Gordon Brown's upset

Apparently "At times since the Labour conference, the PM has been in a state of barely controlled fury. I am told this grew to a crescendo during the conference speech by the shadow defence spokes man, Liam Fox. If Britain does go to the polls, the following passage may turn out to be the tipping point: "You, Prime Minister - in your self-indulgent, plagiarised, 67-minute speech, how much did you dedicate to Iraq, Afghanistan and our armed forces? One hundred and twenty-six words. One hundred and twenty-six words. One word for every two servicemen or women killed in Iraq and Afghanistan.", so says Martin Bright in the new edition of The New Statesman.

So poor Gordon can dish it out but cannot take it, tough. The Conservative party have given Gordon Brown far too easy a ride over his first 100 days as Prime Minister and in fact prior to that when he was Chancellor of the Exchequer. Gordon Brown's record on the economy is not the majestic marvel that he claims, and the BBC promote, and as the economy starts to unravel, more and more people will see this.

Gordon Brown has underfunded the UK armed forces for 10 years. The army have had to patrol Iraq and Afghanistan in inadequate vehicles, with inadequate personal armour, supported by inadequate numbers of helicopters and so on. Tony Blair and Gordon Brown have not made a single visit to meet the families of dead soldiers and airmen when the bodies have been flown back to Britain. These men died as a result of a policy that Blair and Brown foisted upon Parliament and yet Blair and Brown have not had the decency to show their respect. 126 words in Gordon Brown's conference speech, what a tribute to the men and women fighting in the heat because of his Government's policies. 126 words that show how much he cares and values the lives of our armed forces. 126 words, I don't need that many to sum up Gordon Brown, just one will do...
