Immigration from the new EU countries

This Labour government estimated there would be between 5,000 and 13,000 immigrants a year from the East European countries after the first enlargement in 2004. Three years on, the latest figures show that there are 13,300 Poles working in Ealing alone. In fact 19% of the workforce in Ealing are new migrants. Since 2004 a total of 1.8 million foreign workers have come to Britain to work, including 700,000 from Easter Europe. So Labour's estimate was between 15,000 and 39,000, the actual total being between 1,200 and 461 times higher. Labour government as accurate as ever with its predictions, even more out than the Olympic Bid, the NHS IT system or the National Identity Register/ID Cards programme.

Take a look at Migration Watch for some debunking of the pro-immigration arguments.
