Climate Change experts

Writing this after an extremely wet end to a very wet August in London I am thinking of four things:

1) The certain knowledge that The Guardian exhibited in the summer of 2006 when they asserted that:
"Scientists know a lot about how events will unfold...which means that whatever we do, our climate destiny is fixed for the next few decades... Rainfall will decline in the summer and the increased deluges in winter will struggle to replenish thirsty reservoirs because much of the water will run off the baked ground."
Hmmm, the summers of 2007 and 2008 have really shown up those experts. I wonder if these experts will be apologising for their mistake?

2) The sighting yesterday of an article in the Sunday Times about which tomatoes will ripen "under the greyest of skies". Rather a change from 2006 when we were told in numerous articles that the only gardening future for England were drought resistant plants. Looking at our garden, I think marsh plants might be a better choice.

3) The news yesterday that
"The second wet summer in succession has left water levels in many reservoirs at the highest levels seen in recent memory... "It is really exceptional, I've never known it so full at the end of August," he said... Usually you would expect it to be 50 per cent down at this time of year."
...
In south west England Wimbleball and Burrator reservoirs in Dartmoor are at 100 per cent of their capacity, creating a dramatic waterfall effect as excess water flows over a weir in a storage area."
Hmmm remember
"Scientists know ...whatever we do, our climate destiny is fixed for the next few decades... Rainfall will decline in the summer and the increased deluges in winter will struggle to replenish thirsty reservoirs because much of the water will run off the baked ground."
"Scientists know"?

4. The ever reliable Christopher Booker's piece in yesterday's Telegraph entitled "The catastrophe behind climate change". A piece which destroys the veracity of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and that of its unquestioning followers and eager followers. Do read the whole of Christopher Booker's article and spread its message widely.

Still I have friends and colleagues who fervently "believe" in the dangers of Man Made Climate Change and they just wont listen to any evidence that contradicts "the facts". Of course as long as there are people who are that gullible and willing to believe fairy tales, Governments will be able to raise "green taxes" and push money the way of friendly green energy companies.
