"That is why the flag of St George will fly above City Hall today. I will be getting on a Routemaster bus and going across the river to the famous Leadenhall Market to join traders and Londoners in celebration.
Last weekend, the Globe Theatre held a celebration event to mark Shakespeare's birthday. This weekend, there will be an English music festival in Trafalgar Square."
I am not a sheep, I have my own mind
I have had enough of being told what and how to think
Whilst we are still allowed the remnants of free speech,
I will speak out.
I also reserve the right to discuss less controversial matters should I feel the urge.

A rather late Happy St George's Day
It's been an odd day hence this rather late posting but today is the English National Day, a day that most on the Left would rather went uncommemorated as they continue the social and political destruction of England. Ken Livingstone always gave me the impression that he would rather not acknowledge St George's day, preferring to fund the celebrations of St Patrick's Day, the Mela and any other multi-cultural event his advisers could find to fund. Boris Johnson is a different kettle of fish and he celebrates St George's day in word and deed:
I think a home-grown saint would be cause for more celebration than St. George. I can't personally see his link to England. Or Germany. Or Catalonia. Or anywhere in particular outside the Roman Empire. His link to the Normans is tenuous at best. A saint who actually lived in the country and had some impact here would command plenty of interest from the English public, although possibly not Labour.
ReplyDeleteThe left's position is to denigrate and cast doubt on historical accuracy; don't fall prey to the same disease. For better or worse, St George is England's patron saint so celebrate his day.
