The idiotic fairness of "the right" compared to the comparative intolerance of "the left"

Time after time The Telegraph treats us to a soft piece about Sarah Brown or a piece written by Gordon Brown, Alistair Darling, Jack Straw or one of the other self-serving fools/criminals who have done their best to destroy the UK's economy and social fabric over the last 12 years. Contrastingly The Guardian seem less keen to show the same misplaced kindness to Conservative politicians who have not screwed up the UK economy and its people.

Likewise when Tony Blair's New Labour government was elected in 1997, Conservatives and others on the right were expected to 'suck it up', smile and get on with it after accepting the verdict of the masses. Contrastingly when Labour lose badly in local elections and EU elections, Labour voters are enjoined to come back to the party and winning parties are not allowed to feel victorious. It used to be said that the Conservative Party was the 'natural party of government'; now it seems that Labour is the only party that should be allowed to govern the UK. Gordon Brown's oddly threatening turn of phrase at PMQs the other week that seemed to say that "that is not going to be allowed to happen" was missed by much of the media.

"The left" see politics as a battle between good and evil and many will happily fight dirty to keep the 'evil Tories' out of power. Too many Conservatives see the battle as less important than other matters and they may be right BUT unless they learn to fight fire with fire then I am afraid that the Labour dirty tricks departments will defeat them again.
