"I've always told the truth"

From 1:04 in this extract from Nick Robinson's interview with the Prime Minister you will hear Gordon Brown say "I've always told the truth", twice.

Come on let's list all the times that Gordon Brown has not told the truth, send them to David Cameron so he can ask Gordon Brown about them at next week's PMQs.

Maybe Gordon Brown means that he has "always told the truth" but not all the time.

The more I watch that piece of video the more I notice the look on Gordon Brown's face the first time he says "I've always told the truth", very different from the expression when he repeats the risible claim seconds later. Take a look and see what you think.

Do also note Gordon Brown's turn on fake smiles at random points during this interview. Not as creepy as his recent YouTube appearance or his infamous Countdown appreciation video, but still just plain odd.

  1. That's a real "I know where you live" expression the first time he says it, isn't it?
