Someone didn't study economics

I learn that the manufacturer of Crocs, those ugly waterproof clogs, is facing bankruptcy. But why, they are so popular? Indeed they are, but they also are too durable, and that seems to be a large part of the problem; people just don't need to replace them. "Built-in obsolescence", there's a reason!
