One job vacancy that nobody seems to want to fill

The Mail reports the unsurprising news that:
"The Prime Minister’s attempt to boost his image suffered a humiliating blow last night after it was disclosed that he struggled to find anyone to take on a plum post as an £80,000-a-year Downing Street spin-doctor.

A senior aide to David Miliband, favourite to succeed Gordon Brown as Labour leader, turned down the job, saying his loyalty was to the Foreign Secretary.

And the political editor of a national newspaper also turned down the post – despite a personal plea by the Prime Minister to work for him."
Come on, be reasonable, who in their right mind would want to be spin doctor for Gordon Brown. Why would anyone want to work for a man whose grip on reality seems almost as tenuous as his grip on the levers of power? Why would any PR expert want to join the last days of a failing government? Why would any up and coming spin doctor want working for the man with the wonky 'moral compass' on his CV? Why would any young and thrusting spin doctor want his or her name associated with failure and the stench of decay?

What is also interesting bearing in mind my recent piece about Alastair Campbell's recent appearance on 5Live is that The Mail article also informs us that:
"The Mail on Sunday understands that Tony Blair’s former spin-doctor Alastair Campbell.... has taken on an increasingly influential role at No10.

...

Insiders say Mr Campbell, who was forced to quit No 10 after the death of MoD weapons expert David Kelly, has made several visits to advise Mr Brown on how to combat David Cameron in their weekly Commons clashes."
It is odd that the vile Victoria Derbyshire did not mention Alastair Campbell's current position at Number 10, official or unofficial, when interviewing him about Tony Blair and the EU Presidency the other day. No Conservative 'advisor' would go unidentified, but then the normal rules do not seem to apply to the twin Labour spin gurus Mandelson and Campbell.
