'THE senseless stabbing of a Hull teenager could have been prevented if police had acted on crucial intelligence, it has been claimed.
Andrew Lee Fenn, 20, stabbed 22-year-old Jonathan Scarah in the stomach "in a random and motiveless" attack, after he discovered he was from a different part of Hull to himself.
Mr Scarah required major surgery to repair his intestine and was deeply traumatised by the attack.
Now, it has emerged Fenn threatened to stab another teenager, Daniel Osbourne, five days earlier, but police did not apprehend him.
Daniel, 17, of Anlaby, said he cannot understand why it took officers three days to take his statement.
The Hull College student said: "I told police if they didn't get him, he would stab someone. That was in my statement.
"You do not go around with a six-inch kitchen knife without intending to stab someone."'

ReplyDeleteOsbourne only found out that Fenn had stabbed Scarah when he saw a picture of him in the paper after the event. When he told police about Fenn earlier, he didn't know his name and gave a physical description only, of a young male, reddish hair with blue tracksuit trousers and a red shirt.
