1. The Register report that:
'The peer leading the second Climategate enquiry at the University of East Anglia serves as a director of one of the most powerful environmental networks in the world, according to Companies House documents - and has failed to declare it.Not a word on the BBC about this revelation, I wonder why?
Lord Oxburgh, a geologist by training and the former scientific advisor to the Ministry of Defence, was appointed to lead the enquiry into the scientific aspects of the Climategate scandal on Monday. But Oxburgh is also a director of GLOBE, the Global Legislators Organisation for a Balanced Environment.'
2. Climate Audit on the various oddities surrounding the investigation especially with regard to Muir Russell:
'Thus, according to website documents, after the introductory meeting on January 27, Muir Russell appears not to have ever met with Jones, Briffa or other CRU scientists again – other than perhaps crossing paths at the March 1 Parliamentary hearings.'
3. A comment from someone to 2. above:
'Somewhat off topic – but interesting. It appears that the inquiry ‘Team’ considered looking for additional information in the CRU team’s email, and even rounded up that email for inspection.
However, their consultant decided that this would be too difficult to examine in the time available with the required security:

(I wonder if this avoidance of looking for information would pass muster if this inquiry was actually charged with finding the truth?)
Apparently this activity was only started on 14-May. By 17-May the consultant (Professor Peter Sommer, a lawyer by training) had decided that the task was too difficult because of the need for a ‘very high level of security classification’ and seems to have recommended that the activity be abandoned.
Looks like someone was rather worried about a second leak or theft – and was also extremely keen to avoid finding more information….!'
4. The Register report that:
'Parliament was misled and needs to re-examine the Climategate affair thoroughly after the failure of the Russell report, a leading backbench MP told us today.Again not a word on the 'warmist' BBC.
"It's not a whitewash, but it is inadequate," is Labour MP Graham Stringer's summary of the Russell inquiry report. Stringer is the only member of the House of Commons Select Committee on Science and Technology with scientific qualifications - he holds a PhD in Chemistry.
Not only did Russell fail to deal with the issues of malpractice raised in the emails, Stringer told us, but he confirmed the feeling that MPs had been misled by the University of East Anglia when conducting their own inquiry. Parliament only had time for a brief examination of the CRU files before the election, but made recommendations. This is a serious charge.'
'Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?"
