That's odd

When the BBC report on upcoming public sector job cuts in the UK it is all doom and gloom and news of protests and denouncements. However when they report on far more extreme measures in Cuba there's not a word of protest; why? In fact the Cuban trade unions are reported as saying
'Our state cannot and should not continue maintaining companies, productive entities and services with inflated payrolls and losses that damage our economy and result counterproductive, create bad habits and distort workers’ conduct... Job options will be increased and broadened with new forms of non-state employment, among them leasing land, co-operatives, and self-employment, absorbing hundreds of thousands of workers in the coming years.'
