Could this change the balance of economic power in the Middle East

Since Israel handed back the Sinai's oild fields in a 'land for peace' deal with Egypt, Israel has had to deal with the problem  of how to generate power when the raw materials are held by countries that hate israel. So I was intrigued to read that the small gas field find I reported a while back is actually somewhat larger:
'16 trillion cubic feet of gas—making it the world's biggest deepwater gas find in a decade, with enough reserves to supply Israel's gas needs for 100 years.'
The Wall Street Journal  has more details.

Could these have to be the best defended gas platforms in the world?

  1. That's a brilliant piece of news to find for to kick off the New Year NAS - thanks!

What with Israel's economy growing 4.5% in 2010 and this new gas find, Israel will really be jealously despised by the international "community".
