'EMA is simply part of a system that expects so little from our kids, giving them everything for nothing, never teaching them the vital skills of planning long term, working hard to be rewarded, valuing learning for learning’s sake. EMA tells our children that education is something they need to be paid to undertake – not that it is a privilege they need to take advantage of in order to better themselves. Hence taking/demanding EMA and doing nothing with it, except to sit in a school building every day and feel satisfied for having done so.'

The wonderful Katharine Birbalsingh in The Telegraph in a piece that deserves reading in full. This woman should be given a role in Michael Gove's team; soon.
Else maybe Toby Young should offer her a position in his free Schools organisation.
