Parental leave

When Labour launched this idea I remember the BBC's airwaves being full of people saying what a progressive move this was and how pleased they were. Any businessmen who raised objections were dismissed as old-fashioned and it was explained how business would just have to come into the 21st century. Now that the Conservative/LibDem coalition government are going ahead with these plans, suddenly the BBC are very interested in the adverse views of business and in promoting them. It is almost as though the BBC's first reaction is to support Labour proposals and oppose Conservative/LibDem ones...

For the avoidance of doubt, I was opposed to this policy when proposed by Harriet Harman and am just as opposed now.

  1. It is certainly a sure way to kill off small businesses.
