What did David Cameron say about multiculuralism, extremism and terrorism?

Much has been written and said about David Cameron's weekend speech, much of it nonsense borne of bias against anything a Conservative says about anything in this area of public life; including the disgraceful comments by labour's Sadiq Khan. By way of contrast, Harry's Place has a very good article that you should read.

Possibly the key line in David Cameron's speech was this one "Islam is a religion observed peacefully and devoutly by over a billion people"

What is noticeable is that David Cameron did not simply say, as so many before him have, that Islam is a 'religion of peace'. He said that over a billion people peacefully observe Islam. This does not preclude the fact that there are many, many Muslims who do not peacefully follow Islam and that they can get authority for their actions from the Koran and other writings.
