'a unified Ireland'

A strange line in today's Evening Standard. In the report on 'the week-long journey of Olympic torch around London' there is a section that runs thus:

'It will visit every county and borough including the Shetland Islands and the Channel Islands with a visit to Dublin to celebrate a unified Ireland'

Pardon? Shome mistake shurely (as Private Eye would say)...
