James Delingpole vs Richard Bacon (update)

On 22 March I posted this piece about James Delingpole's appearance on Richard Bacon's 5Live show. I was appalled that Richard Bacon didn't sound a) impartial or b) knowledgeable. And wondered if you ever heard him sound so angry throughout an interview and so triumphant when he thought (usually incorrectly) that he'd made a good point? Are BBC interviewers meant to treat interviewees like this? Can anyone think of another interviewee that Richard Bacon has so taken against?

James Delingpole has posted his own reaction to this interview which is well worth a read.

So far as I know Richard Bacon has not revealed if he has found time in his busy schedule to check James Delingpole's rebuttal of the 97% figure.

  1. I listened to that show on iPlayer that day because I saw it mentioned on a blog (may even have been this one). I tried to listen to it again a couple of days later and noticed that there was no mention of Delingpole in the write up of the show on iPlayer and that if you searched for 'Delingpole' on the BBC site it just gave you his appearance on Daily Politics on 9th March. However if you searched for 'Linus Roache' it gave you his appearance on Bacon's show on the same day as Delingpole. Surely the BBC weren't trying to hide anything!
