A marriage made in heaven?

Tonight's film was directed by one of my favourite directors - Werner Herzog whose Fitzcarraldo is one of the truly great films.

Tonight's film starred the always watchable Nicolas Cage - a genius at portraying the drunk, drugged and/or unhinged - Con Air is the one of the truly great 'bad' films, Lord of War is fantastic.

Tonight's film is Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans.

A seriously good film in which Werner Herzog crosses his usual style with more than a touch of David Lynch and finds in Nicolas Cage someone almost as talented as Klaus Kinski at portraying a man on (or maybe beyond) the edge. Of course Nicolas Cage starred in David Lynch's tremendous Wild at Heart.

I thoroughly recommend this film.
