Whats A Guy Gotta Do

Joe Nichols - 'What's A Guy Gotta Do' - some fun country music

The Day of the Doctor - As live blogging, albeit a few days later on a second watch - One for the Doctor Who obsessives only!

Nice retro titles - very original series
76 Totter's Lane and the Coal Hill School with I. Chesterton as Chairman of the Governors - lovely nod back to the original series
Shouldn't the Doctor be able to escape from a winch?
Why does Matt Smith keep leaving the Tardis doors open, previous Doctors were very careful to always shut that door.
Love Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewwart's granddaughter's choice of scarf, very Fourth Doctor.
Why are the Time Lords fighting massive Dalek spacecraft with hand held weapons, do they not have anything more powerful?
If the Daleks are strafing Gallifrey why are Daleks also on the ground, that is very poor air/ground force cooperation.
What is a 'sky trench'?
The Omega Arsenal in the Time Vaults? Sounds portentous.
'The Moment' is gone, 'The Galaxy Eater' with a 'sentinent operating system', so more intelligent than Windows 8...
Billie Piper with a similar performance to  Idris/Suranne Jones
"Stuck between a girl and a box, story of your life"
If "every moment in time and space is burning" during the 'Time Wars', how come nobody elsewhere in the Universe is ever aware of the Time Wars or their effects?
Windows on The Doctor's future, a little Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future?
The Doctor was appointed 'Curator of the Under Gallery' by Queen Elizabeth 1, that explains her comment in The Shakespeare Code
Stacey/Joanna Page is Queen Elizabeth, was the Queen Welsh? Impressive decolletage nonetheless.
A 'machine that goes ding', how Monty Python - Meaning of Life
The Doctor should not kiss the ladies, or men (Captain Jack included)
Nice scene with the rabbit, most amusing - David Tennant does light and shade very well.
Small penis gag between the Doctors, "compensating.. regeneration is a lottery"
"Reverse the polarity"...
"Timey wimey" good to take the piss out of that phrase
The Black Archive and Men In Black brain wiping technology
Captain Jack's Vortex manipulator, sqweee. But an anti-American film dig.
Nice human to zygon transformation scene
And messages between periods of history was clever
I like the Sonic Screwdriver subroutine cleverness and the way it's shown to be over the top by Clara.
The man who regrets and the man who forgets - nice...
Not the old copies need to keep the originlas alive routine... how original and convenient
So the zygns home planet burnt in the first days of the Time Wars so they need a new plant but if "every moment in time and space is burning" during the Time Wars, how come they escaped and how come Earth wasn't similarly affected?
I see the Doctor's mobile number is still 07700 900461, just as in
Kissing in the future...
Back To The Future name checked (Are they trying to link to as many other SciFi programmes as possible?)
"You've let this place go a bit" - 10th Doctor's (David Tennant) control room
"The round things" return, how 1970s and 1980s
And back to the 11th Doctor's (Matt Smith) Doctor
A Doctor Who pinboard - From left to right - Tegan, Nyssa, Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart and Kamelion
A bit of Timey Wimey within the programme
All three Doctors in the slice of time 'picture' but that's not what happened...!
Nice 10th and 11th Doctor synchronisation
Why aren't the three Doctors memories wiped by that device?
More on the pinboard - Susan and various others from First and Second Doctor that I don't recognise straight off... I started with Third Doctor.
Love the big red button... Rather flower like
Two iterations of the same Tardis in the same place and time, surely that would rip a hole in the fabric of time and space... Although this is Gallifrey  so if it's possible anywhere it would be there
The warrior, the hero and ... a doctor
"Never give up, never give in" - Bizarrely on Sunday I heard that as Galaxy Quest's "Never give up, never surrender" I was wrong...
Clever crossfire idea, how original
Frozen in time, spotted that a while back as a concept.
How did John Hurt's Doctor get back to his Tardis so quickly?
Quick spot of John Hurt's Doctor, need to see more...
Time Lords frozen in a single moment, so they could come back in the future?
All the Doctors including 13 - Peter Capaldi's eyes
The latest Doctor is in charge of the rest at the end, was that the same in The Five Doctors? I sense a re-watch.
When the 13 Tardis's surround Gallifrey, where are the Dalek spacecraft? Not a sign of them? If they were there, couldn't the Tardis's have been hit. They have to be there for the crossfire plan to work...
Inside of National Gallery has very Tardis like hexagonal roundels on the wall.
Is John Hurt now part of the history of The Doctors? If so is a re-numbering of Eccleston, Tennant, Smith and Capaldi in order?
John Hurt's almost last words "Wearing a bit thin" wasn't that  also William Hartnell's?
Nice ears gag bearing in mind who he regenerates into, Christopher Eccleston
That last shot of the regeneration, does it have an Eccleston'ish right eye or is that my imagination?
Trenselor...
"I don't want to go" the last words of David Tennant as he goes into his Tardis and also the last words before he regenerated into Matt Smith. "He always says that" Nice line...
Just realised that there were three iterations of the same Doctor and three iterations of the same Tardis in the national Gallery and nothing happened, is The National Gallery actually Gallifrey?
Old man looking for you, "The Curator"... "I could be a Curator.. I could retire and do that"...
"You know, I really think you might" and there is Tom Baker, the Fourth Doctor, older but still magnificent, certainly an 'old favourite' of mine
No offer of jelly babies
"Oh you have a lot to do"... Looking for Gallifrey
"WHO knows" Doctor Who knows?!
Matt Smith's end of episode voiceovers are rather good, I love his voice.
"I have a new destination... I know where I'm going, where I've always been going, home - the long way round" and a great line-up of Doctors, including John Hurt.

First Doctor/William Hartnell by himself and then alternating inwards from left to right:
L1: Second Doctor/Patrick Troughton
R1: Third Doctor/Jon Pertwee
L2: Fourth Doctor/Tom Baker
R2: Fifth Doctor/Peter Davison
L3: Sixth Doctor/Colin Baker
R3: Seventh Doctor/Sylvester McCoy
L4: Eighth Doctor/Paul McGann
R4: Ninth Doctor/Christopher Eccleston
L5: ? Doctor/John Hurt
R5: Tenth Doctor/David Tennant
Centre: Eleventh Doctor/Matt Smith

But that's not correct anymore, John Hurt was a regeneration between the Eighth and Ninth Doctor, so that makes:
L4: Eighth Doctor/Paul McGann
R4: Tenth Doctor/Christopher Eccleston
L5: Ninth Doctor/John Hurt
R5: Eleventh Doctor/David Tennant
Centre: Twelfth Doctor/Matt Smith

And that presents a whole new issue as Time Lords are meant to only have 11 regenerations which means they are all used up, so how does the Twelfth Doctor/Matt Smith  regenerate into the Thirteenth Doctor/Peter Capaldi? I suppose we'll find out at Christmas... This War Doctor idea just doesn't wash, John Hurt is not Paul McGann nor is he Christopher Eccleston - I demand a proper explanation!

The Credits show "The Doctor" in reverse order with John Hurt between Christopher Eccleston and Paul McGann, so... Am I obsessing a bit much?

The credits also show Billie Piper as 'Rose', surely she was The Moment's operating system projecting as a conscience?

No mention of The Curator in the credits.

All the Doctor's faces in turn, as in the credits.... Yes I know I should get a life! Or 12! Or 13!

Feeling chilly? A Friday Night Rule 5 post

Here's Kate Upton's recent Sports Illustrated winter shoot to warm you up...

Doctor Who: The Day of the Doctor: The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot

A BBC special film revolving around the Fifth Doctor/Peter Davison, the Sixth Doctor/Colin Baker, the Seventh Doctor/Sylvester McCoy (Who's also in The Hobbit) and the Eighth Doctor/Paul McGann and their alleged attempts to be in the 50th anniversary special.

It's quite amusing but no more than that, although the Peter Jackson and Ian McKellen scene is nicely done, incidentally does anyone see the point of adding Radagast the Brown to the original story and John Barrowman's secret family is a nice touch but not as realistic as his obsessive self-promotion and incessant singing. Frank Skinner would surely be too tall to be a Dalek operator, although his two colleagues are bigger. By the way where does one subscribe to the Dalek Operators Gazette? Is it monthly or quarterly?

Favourite lines: Colin Baker's moan about "atmospheric lighting nonsense" and Peter Davison's comment that if you lean on the Tardis interior it "doesn't wobble at all" I did also enjoy the security guard's description of the Three Doctors as "illegal alien, I shouldn't wonder"

Having looked at the credits I see that Katy Manning and Lalla Ward were in this, time for a second watch...

Rampant Islamophobia?

The real threat to good community relations in the West is Islamophobia, or so we keep being told. The trouble is that the facts are at variance to the claims. The FBI's 2012 Hate Crime Statistics show

By bias motivation

An analysis of data for victims of single-bias hate crime incidents showed that:
  • 48.5 percent of the victims were targeted because of the offender’s bias against a race.
  • 19.2 percent were targeted because of a bias against a particular sexual orientation.
  • 18.7 percent were victimized because of a bias against a religious belief.
  • 12.1 percent were victimized because of a bias against an ethnicity/national origin.
  • 1.4 percent were targeted because of a bias against a disability. (Based on Table 1.)

Religious bias
Of the 1,340 victims of an anti-religious hate crime:
  • 62.4 percent were victims of an offender’s anti-Jewish bias.
  • 11.6 percent were victims of an anti-Islamic bias.
  • 7.5 percent were victims of a bias against groups of individuals of varying religions (anti-multiple religions, group).
  • 6.4 percent were victims of an anti-Catholic bias.
  • 2.6 percent were victims of an anti-Protestant bias.
  • 0.9 percent were victims of an anti-Atheist/Agnostic bias.
  • 8.6 percent were victims of a bias against other religions (anti-other religion). (Based on Table 1.)
So it's Jews not Muslims that face hate crimes based on their religion but that's of no interest to the pro-Islam media for whom Jews too often are linked detrimentally to Israel (the hated country).

Lewis Collins R.I.P.

Lewis Collins has died at the age of 67, William Andrew Phillip Bodie is dead... Another part of my childhood lies in tatters.

I wonder if this might herald a re-run of all 57 episodes.

In the meantime, here's some Bodie moments...

Climate Science is settled, 98% of climate scientists accept that.

I keep being told that 'Climate Science is settled because 98% of climate scientists accept that.' this is  (I believe) a way of shutting down debate on man made climate change, the latest attempt being made by @lynnejones_exMP on Twitter, that's former MP Lynne Jones (whose views on climate change are as fixed and wrong as they are on Israel and the genocidal Islamist terrorists that want Israel destroyed and Jews killed) but I digress.

In January 2012, the American Meteorological Society surveyed its professional members and found that 52% believe global warming is happening and is mostly human-caused, while 48 percent do not. The survey also found that scientists with professed liberal political views were far more likely to believe global warming is human-caused than others.

The authors of the survey recommended that the American Meteorological Society should 'acknowledge and explore the uncomfortable fact that political ideology influences the climate change views of meteorology professionals; refute the idea that those who do hold non-majority views just need to be "educated" about climate change; [and] continue to deal with the conflict among members of the meteorology community.'

So is Climate Science settled? No of course not. And why does Lynn Jones want to believe it is? Maybe her left-wing views, not 'liberal' as there's nothing liberal about supporting the rights of genocidal Islamist terrorists over that over the democratic multi-cultural state of Israel, could provide a clue.

Can you tell who's an immigrant by looking at their face? Would it be racist to say you could?

Before you lefty types scream 'that would be racist', look who said it...

Barack Obama saying that "just looking at faces, I could tell there were some folks who are here not because they were born here".

Imagine the media furore if George W. Bush or any other Republican had said this, but as it's the Obamamessiah there's nary a word.

If Sarah Palin had said this, the BBC would be having a collective orgasm of outrage but as it's their great hero Barack Obama, I can be sure that the news will ignore it and that The News Quiz will not pour scorn on their collective hero.

The BBC News do find time to report that 'US President Barack Obama "pardons" two turkeys on the eve of the Thanksgiving holiday, saluting them for their bravery'. The BBC happy to produce yet another puff piece for Barack Obama rather than reporting yet another Barack Obama misspeak.

The BBC choose what to report and what not to report, seemingly to help their Labour Party allies

This BBC report on yesterday's OFGEM chief's comments to the Energy and Climate Change Committee is very detailed about one part of Andrew Wright's remarks:
The energy regulator Ofgem has launched a scathing attack on the record and profits of the big gas and electricity suppliers.

Andrew Wright, the acting chief executive of Ofgem, said there was a "deep distrust of anything the energy companies do or say".
But that BBC report manages not report at all something that Sky News do manage to report:
He also warned that Labour's proposed energy price freeze "puts at risk the proper functioning of the industry"
...
Labour, which has pledged to introduce a regulator with greater teeth, came under fire from Mr Wright over its plan for a 20-month freeze to bills if it wins the 2015 general election.

Energy companies had previously warned such an intervention risked crucial investment in the country's energy infrastructure.

Following Ofgem's report on Monday analysing 2012 energy firm profits, industry body Energy UK argued the figures did not take into account the provision for securing energy supplies for the future.

Npower owner RWE confirmed on Tuesday that significant cost pressures had forced it to pull out of the massive £4bn Atlantic Array windfarm project.
So why are the BBC not reporting the full story? Can anyone persuade me that it's not just because they want to help their Labour allies along?

An idiot tweets, this time it's @_fuck_israel_

I have been having an interminable Twitter conversation with a deeply unpleasant individual whose Twitter handle is @_fuck_israel_ . His level of discourse is pretty low, mostly restricted to telling me how much he loves (indeed worships Hitler), how Israel should be destroyed and how Islam is much better than Israel (apparently it's all down to numbers of followers of a religion).

I will at some point document the many rantings of this Algerian who claims to be a lawyer and to have a Jewish Swedish girlfriend who converted to Islam (hmmm) but for the time being here's just one of his laughable Tweets:

So @_fuck_israel_ claims that Hamas's fight for freedom has no relationship with Islam and that those who claim otherwise are stupid morons.

Here's the beginning of Hamas's Charter

The Charter of Allah: The Platform of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas)

“In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate You are the best community that has been raised up for mankind. Ye enjoin right conduct and forbid indecency; and ye believe in Allah. And if the People of the Scripture had believed, it had been better for them. Some of them are believers; but most of them are evil-doers. They will not harm you save a trifling hurt, and if they fight against you they will turn and flee. And afterward they will not be helped. Ignominy shall be their portion wheresoever they are found save [where they grasp] a rope from Allah and a rope from man. They have incurred anger from their Lord, and wretchedness is laid upon them. That is because they used to disbelieve the revelations of Allah, and slew the Prophets wrongfully. That is because they were rebellious and used to transgress.” Surat Al-Imran (III), verses 109-111 Israel will rise and will remain erect until Islam eliminates it as it had eliminated its predecessors. The Islamic World is burning. It is incumbent upon each one of us to pour some water, little as it may be, with a view of extinguishing as much of the fire as he can, without awaiting action by the others.
 No relationship with Islam?

Here's the eight objectives of Hamas, note the complete absence of references to Islam, Muslims and Allah:

Part I - Knowing the Movement

Article One: The Ideological Aspects
The Islamic Resistance Movement draws its guidelines from Islam; derives from it its thinking, interpretations and views about existence, life and humanity; refers back to it for its conduct; and is inspired by it in whatever step it takes.

Article Two: The Link between Hamas and the Association of Muslim Brothers
The Islamic Resistance Movement is one of the wings of the Muslim Brothers in Palestine. The Muslim Brotherhood Movement is a world organization, the largest Islamic Movement in the modern era. It is characterized by a profound understanding, by precise notions and by a complete comprehensiveness of all concepts of Islam in all domains of life: views and beliefs, politics and economics, education and society, jurisprudence and rule, indoctrination and teaching, the arts and publications, the hidden and the evident, and all the other domains of life.

Article Three: Structure and Essence
The basic structure of the Islamic Resistance Movement consists of Muslims who are devoted to Allah and worship Him verily [as it is written]: “I have created Man and Devil for the purpose of their worship” [of Allah]. Those Muslims are cognizant of their duty towards themselves, their families and country and they have been relying on Allah for all that. They have raised the banner of Jihad in the face of the oppressors in order to extricate the country and the people from the [oppressors’] desecration, filth and evil.

Article Four
The Movement welcomes all Muslims who share its beliefs and thinking, commit themselves to its course of action, keep its secrets and aspire to join its ranks in order to carry out their duty. Allah will reward them.

Article Five: Dimensions of Time and Space of the Hamas
As the Movement adopts Islam as its way of life, its time dimension extends back as far as the birth of the Islamic Message and of the Righteous Ancestor. Its ultimate goal is Islam, the Prophet its model, the Qur’an its Constitution. Its special dimension extends wherever on earth there are Muslims, who adopt Islam as their way of life; thus, it penetrates to the deepest reaches of the land and to the highest spheres of Heavens.

Article Six: Peculiarity and Independence
The Islamic Resistance Movement is a distinct Palestinian Movement which owes its loyalty to Allah, derives from Islam its way of life and strives to raise the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine. Only under the shadow of Islam could the members of all regions coexist in safety and security for their lives, properties and rights. In the absence of Islam, conflict arises, oppression reigns, corruption is rampant and struggles and wars prevail. Allah had inspired the Muslim poet, Muhammad Iqbal, when he said:
When the Faith wanes, there is no security
There is no this-worldliness for those who have no faith
Those who wish to live their life without religion
Have made annihilation the equivalent of life.

Article Seven: The Universality of Hamas
By virtue of the distribution of Muslims, who pursue the cause of the Hamas, all over the globe, and strive for its victory, for the reinforcement of its positions and for the encouragement of its Jihad, the Movement is a universal one. It is apt to be that due to the clarity of its thinking, the nobility of its purpose and the loftiness of its objectives.
It is in this light that the Movement has to be regarded, evaluated and acknowledged. Whoever denigrates its worth, or avoids supporting it, or is so blind as to dismiss its role, is challenging Fate itself. Whoever closes his eyes from seeing the facts, whether intentionally or not, will wake up to find himself overtaken by events, and will find no excuses to justify his position. Priority is reserved to the early comers. Oppressing those who are closest to you, is more of an agony to the soul than the impact of an Indian sword. “And unto thee have we revealed the Scripture with the truth, confirming whatever scripture was before it, and a watcher over it. So judge between them by that which Allah hath revealed, and follow not their desires away from the truth which has come unto thee. For each we have appointed a divine law and a traced-out way. Had Allah willed, He could have made you one community. But that He may try you by that which he has given you [He has made you as you are]. So vie with one another in good works. Unto Allah, you will all return. He will then inform you of that wherein you differ.” Hamas is one of the links in the Chain of Jihad in the confrontation with the Zionist invasion. It links up with the setting out of the Martyr Izz a-din al-Qassam and his brothers in the Muslim Brotherhood who fought the Holy War in 1936; it further relates to another link of the Palestinian Jihad and the Jihad and efforts of the Muslim Brothers during the 1948 War, and to the Jihad operations of the Muslim Brothers in 1968 and thereafter. But even if the links have become distant from each other, and even if the obstacles erected by those who revolve in the Zionist orbit, aiming at obstructing the road before the Jihad fighters, have rendered the pursuance of Jihad impossible; nevertheless, the Hamas has been looking forward to implement Allah’s promise whatever time it might take. The prophet, prayer and peace be upon him, said: The time will not come until Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim! there is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him! This will not apply to the Gharqad, which is a Jewish tree (cited by Bukhari and Muslim).

Article Eight: The Slogan of the Hamas
Allah is its goal, the Prophet its model, the Qur’an its Constitution, Jihad its path and death for the case of Allah its most sublime belief.
So let's compare @_fuck_israel_ 'Hamas fight for freedom no relation with Islam' with Hamas's Article Eight (The slogan of Hamas) 'Allah is its goal, the Prophet its model, the Qur’an its Constitution, Jihad its path and death for the case of Allah its most sublime belief.'

Maybe @_fuck_israel_ has a syntax problem and his 'stupid moron' comment wasn't aimed at @SoldierFrosty and/or @jimborats but at himself.

Lily Allen says it's Hard Out Here

Lily Allen is back and her tongue is firmly in her cheek.

Doctor Who - The Day of the Doctor (post 1)

I watched this Doctor Who special episode yesterday and enjoyed many parts of it but found others to be overblown and maybe a little silly!

One line especially jarred with me, "Never give-up, never surrender" - that's from the wonderful sci-fi film Galaxy Quest (the wrong franchise)...

Is playing for the England cricket team that stressful?

Then opening batsman Marcus Trescothick left the 2005-06 tour of India and the 2006-07 Ashes tour of Australia with a stress-related condition. Now Jonathan Trott has left the current Ashes tour of Australia because of a long-standing stress-related condition.

Now I understand stress-related illness, boy do I understand it... And I don't want to minimise its seriousness but could Jonathan Trott's condition possibly be the first case of Mitchell Johnsonitis?

Of course there might be a non-cricketing explanation as to why Jonathan Trott is depressed...
Jonathan Trott supports Tottenham Hotspur, not a good weekend for a Spurs supporting England cricketer...

Doctor Who - The Day of the Doctor

I was out last night and so missed the 50th anniversary special. Don't worry, I've Sky+ it in HD and will be sitting down to watch it before lunch. So no spoilers please...

In the meantime here's the rather spiffy 'all the Doctors' image that the BBC have released.

It's good to see Paul McGann take his place in the pantheon...

So how does John Hurt's iteration as The Doctor fit (or is there another explanation for his Doctor)? Also if Time Lords are allowed just 12 regenerations (13 'lives'), is the end coming soon for the Doctor, or will a fix be found? I know there have been exceptions found before to this limit, for more (much, much more) on this topic and others relating to Time Lords, try this Wikipedia page - warning GEEK alert!

Usain Bolt in 2003

An interesting Usain Bolt profile piece by Trans World Sport from 2003

An interesting piece and the change in his accent is very noticeable.

A year later and a 17 year old Usain Bolt sets his first world record, albeit a junior one, over 200m.

To celebrate tonight's 'The Day of the Doctor' Doctor Who special - some gratuitious Amy Pond/Karen Gillan images

I am not 100% if the leather catsuit image is kosher.

If you want to see some more images of Karen Gillan, may of which are photoshopped then this search may be of assistance but beware many are definitely NSFW.

The BBC just cannot help themselves

From the BBC's article entitled 'How did Doctor Who reflect the real world?':

The first David Tennant story, The Christmas Invasion, contains a scene which echoes former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher's decision to sink the General Belgrano during the Falklands conflict in 1982.

Penelope Wilton's prime minister orders the destruction of a retreating alien spaceship, a decision condemned by the Doctor.
Doctor Who during the Russell T. Davies years often had politial echoes, this was one of the most clumsy. It was also perpetrtinga falsehood as the Argentinian ship's captain and others have admitted that The Belgarano was not retreating...

La Nación published a reader's letter from Admiral Enrique Molina Pico (head of the Argentine Navy in the 1990s) in 2005 in which Pico wrote that the Belgrano was part of an operation that posed a real threat to the British task force, but was holding off for tactical reasons. Pico added that "To leave the exclusion zone was not to leave the combat zone to enter a protected area". Pico explicitly stated that the sinking was not a war crime, but a combat action.[48]

The Belgrano's captain, Héctor Bonzo, (in) an interview in 2003... stated that the General Belgrano was only temporarily sailing to the west at the time of the attack, and his orders were to attack any British ships which came within range of cruiser's armament.[51]

The BBC, any excuse to blacken the name of Lady Thatcher and the British Armed Forces, truth be damned.

When even Time magazine say that Barack Obama broke his promises is the hero worship over?

Of course I exempt the BBC from this possibility as they will worship the Obamamessiah right up until the time his Democratic Party successor is in position.

Hillary Clinton for 2016?

I'll remind you because the pro-Democratic Party media have forgotten this story. Because nothing must be allowed to stop Hillary Clinton being elected in 2016, after all it's only fair that the first black (well half black) US President is followed by the first female US President - so long as  both are from the Democratic Party of course, I don't think that Sarah Palin would fit the bill.

Hunter Shoots Deer — 63 Seconds Later, Video Shows Him Getting the Absolute Scare of a Lifetime! | Video | TheBlaze.com

A deer coming back to life having been shot, where is that Woody Allen video?

Here it is, although it's a moose not a deer in this instance. I love this piece of Woody Allen standup, he's really good...

The end line is one of my comedy favourites...

Australia: 273-8, Stuart Broad 20.0 - 3 - 65 - 5

You cannot keep a good man down and all that pre-series name calling by the Australian media and some players has only served to gird Stuart Broad's loins. It's going to be a great series for the 'smug Pommy cheat' aka 'Stuart Fraud'...

As the Ashes start here's Gareme Swann doing what he does second best

Impersonating his team mates and David Lloyd

His Kevin Pieterson is surprisingly camp...

Education doesn't mean women should have more freedoms: Kerala Muslim leader - Indian Express Mobile

Yet more Islamic oppression of women that the West will ignore...
' ..Islam has not changed its decrees regarding the life of women. Muslim women should not work in a place where only a woman and a man are present. They should work only in a place where there are enough number of women and trustworthy men. Ninety per cent of jobs do not require men and women to mingle. These rules cannot be changed," he said.'

Abbas Cracks Down on Media, World Looks Other Way via Gatestone Institute

'Palestinian Authority has resumed its security crackdown on Palestinian journalists and bloggers in the West Bank. But the crackdown has thus far sparked protests only from Palestinian journalists.

Western governments that fund the Palestinian Authority continue to turn a blind eye to the breach of freedom of expression in the West Bank.International human rights groups and organizations purporting to defend freedom of the media also continue to ignore the violations against freedom of expression under the Palestinian Authority.

These groups only see what the Israeli authorities do. On the side of the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank, or Hamas in the Gaza Strip, they "see no evil."

They know about the assaults on Palestinian journalists by Palestinian security forces. But they choose to bury their heads in the sand. It is more convenient and safer to criticize Israel than the Palestinian Authority and Hamas.

For Western governments, so long as the Palestinian Authority leadership says it is committed to the peace process with Israel, its leaders are free to rule as a dictatorship.

Western diplomats based in Ramallah say they are fully aware of the anti-democratic measures taken by the Palestinian Authority. But, they add, these measures are an "internal Palestinian issue" that does not concern the international community.

The silence of the international community drove Palestinian journalists to announce that they have had enough and that the time has come to stage public protests against the crackdown.'

But don't expect to read about this on the BBC where Israel can do no right and the Palestinians can do no wrong.

A young Mick Jagger, from 1965

Photos of the Rolling Stones when they were yoiung are rare, and off stage ones from the early days of the band are even rarer. A collection of photos taken by an unknown photographer in California in 1965 have been discovered.

There's some nice shots and it's interesting to see Keith Richards looking youthful...

Watch "Australian in Palestine account of children suicide bombers - תרגום עברי" on YouTube

There are segments of this video where you'll need to be able to understand French or Hebrew but they are relatively short and the rest is very powerful.

So depressing but that's what brainwashing children to hate begets. The Israel Haters ignore such evidence, because they just hate Israel so much, as they themselves have been taught to do.

Insight: Boko Haram, taking to hills, seize slave 'brides'

'In a new development, Boko Haram is abducting Christian women whom it converts to Islam on pain of death and then forces into "marriage" with fighters - a tactic that recalls Joseph Kony's Lord's Resistance Army in the jungles of Uganda.'
The joy that Islamists bring to Africa, more here http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSBRE9AG04120131117?irpc=932

Is criticism of Israel antisemitic?

'... most Jews do not consider criticism of Israel to be antisemitic: but they do consider it to be antisemitic, when it involves calls to boycott Israel, or compares Israel to Nazi Germany.'
Many people quite deliberately make the comparison of Israel to Nazi Germany in order to cause maximum offence to Jews. The anti-Semites know what they're doing and revel in the pain and hurt that they cause.

The United Nations translator that told the truth

I think I posted this story when it broke but here's the video and transcript, thanks to Harry's Place and UN Watch

“I mean, I think when you have five statements, not five, like a total of ten resolutions on Israel and Palestine, there’s gotta be something, c’est un peu trop, non? [It’s a bit much, no?] I mean I know… There’s other really bad shit happening, but no one says anything, about the other stuff.”

The United Nation's obsession with demonising Israel whilst ignoring horrific human rights abuses across  much of the Muslim world is both vile and predictable bearing in mind the malign influence of the OIC.

ANOTHER epic Israel-boycott failure as BDS groups use Israeli tech to build websites | Trending Central

Britain’s Zionist Federation has today highlighted the latest example of a failure of Israel boycotters (BDS campaigners) to hold to their principles as it transpires that various anti-Israel groups have been building their own websites with Israeli-developed technology.

The website of the Cornell University branch of ‘Students for Justice in Palestine’ explains that the group’s campaigns include boycotting skincare products, soft drink manufacturers, and even hummus, while the ‘Palestinian Holocaust Museum’ website actively attempts to smear the Jewish state with claims of a “Palestinian Holocaust”.

The only problem is… both websites were built on the Israeli web-platform “Wix”.

The revelation comes hot on the heels of the viral news story of a student at Oxford University, who pointed out his classmate’s hypocrisy in using an Apple product, which contains parts developed by an Israeli tech-firm, while plastering his Macbook with anti-Israel propaganda.

'Rape porn' possession to be punished by three years in jail, David Cameron to announce | Metro News

Unsurprisingly they haven't thought this through. Are anybody with DVDs, or similar, of one or more of Deliverance, Pulp Fiction, Shawshank Redemption and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo to face a prison sentence?

Watch "CAMERA Video Brief Exposes Economist and al Jazeera Anti-Israel Bias" on YouTube

The Economist -- and al Jazeera following suit -- took biased treatment of Israel to new depths with a segment claiming Israel, in its apparently diabolical attempts to torment Arabs, resorts to setting traffic lights so that Arabs must wait longer than Jews. The absurdity of this false charge led to this video alert, aired on Jewish Life TV, and prompted CAMERA to prepare a detailed video of its own exposing the bogus claims, which can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ectEf4...

Ir wasn't just Barack Hussein Obama who lied, Hillary Rodham Clinton did too

'In 2007, campaigning in Iowa, Clinton like Obama, promised Americans that if they liked their plans they could keep them. Clinton, also like Obama, left out the fine print that her plan had a provision similar to Obamacare which would have kicked millions off of their own insurance plans.'

For when Hillary Clinton becomes the next saviour of the United States and the media (including the BBC) get right behind her after all the USA has never had a woman President.

Guardian columnist blames the persecution of Mid-East Christians on Israel’s creation

'... the plight of religious and ethnic minorities in Muslim and Arab majority countries in the region is ignored due in part to political correctness, cultural relativism and a malign obsession with Israel.'

Because for too many on the left of politics, Israel is always to blame and facts can be ignored in order to make this point.

Freedom of Speech in London 2013

This video is from London's School of Oriental And African Studies (SOAS) aka School of Organised Anti-Semitism where a speaker, Mohamed El-Nabawy, had to be ushered off stage by security guards when around 30 demonstrators stormed a lecture theatre. Mr El-Nabawy has ties to the Tamarod group which opposed ex President Mohammed Morsi and played a key role in the ousting of the Muslim Brotherhood-backed Morsi in June this year.

Israel's 'Apartheid Wall' in context

'97% of this "wall" is only a fence, and it was erected IN RESPONSE to terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians. More than a dozen other countries use the same thing to defend against terrorist attacks, prevent weapons trafficking, and curb illegal immigration, among other things.

Israel is no different.

'See how the Arab world treats their "brothers," the Palestinian Arabs...
The world focuses on Israel's "inhumane" treatment, while Arab nations hold them in horrid refugee camps, using them as political pawns. They were ethnically cleansed, they were massacred, all by Arabs. And the subjugation continues. But no one says a word.

The suitable age for marriage - According to a fatwa from Shaykh `Abdul-`Azeez Bin Baz

The Suitable Age For Marriage
Question:

What is the suitable age for marriage for men and women, because some young women do not accept marriage from those who are older than them? Likewise, some men do not marry women who are older than them. We request a response and may Allaah reward you with goodness.
Answer:

I advise young women not to refuse marriage from a man due to his age, such as being ten, twenty or thirty years older than her. This is not a reason, because the Prophet, sallallaahu alayhi was salam, married 'A'ishah, may Allaah be pleased with her, when he was fifty-three years old and she was a girl of nine years old. So being older does not harm. There is no sin in the woman being older, nor any sin in the man being older, because the Prophet, sallallaahu alayhi was salam, married Khadijah, may Allaah be pleased with her, when she was forty years old and he was twenty-five years old, before the Revelation came to him, sallallaahu alayhi was salam; that is, she, may Allaah be pleased with her, was fifteen years older than him. Then he married 'A'ishah, may Allaah be pleased with her, when she was small - six or seven years old and he was fifty-three years old. Many of those who speak on the radio or television deter people from marriage between men and women of differing ages - this is all wrong & saying such things is not permissable for them. It is obligatory for a woman to look at the (prospective) husband, and if he is righteous and suitable, she should agree, even if he is older than her. Similarly, a man should devote himself to finding a righteous, religious woman, even if she is older than him, if she is still young and still fertile. In short, the age should not be an excuse and it should not be considered something shameful, as long as the man is righteous and the woman is righteous. May Allaah reform the situation of us all.
Shaykh `Abdul-`Azeez Bin Baz
Fatawa Islamiyah, volume 5, The Book of Marriage, page 169-170

This and more at Fatwah Islam

I came across this fatah having first read Sheikh Fawzan's thoughts on Muslim “child-marriage”

'Muslim “child-marriage” — euphemism for pedophilia — is making headlines again, at least in Arabic media: Dr. Salih bin Fawzan, a prominent cleric and member of Saudi Arabia’s highest religious council, just issued a fatwa asserting that there is no minimum age for marriage, and that girls can be married “even if they are in the cradle.”
Appearing in Saudi papers on July 13, the fatwa complains that “Uninformed interference with Sharia rulings by the press and journalists is on the increase, posing dire consequences to society, including their interference with the question of marriage to small girls who have not reached maturity, and their demand that a minimum age be set for girls to marry.”
Fawzan insists that nowhere does Sharia set an age limit for marrying girls: like countless Muslim scholars before him, he relies on Koran 65:4, which discusses marriage to females who have not yet begun menstruating (i.e., are prepubescent) and the fact that Muhammad, Islam’s role model, married Aisha when she was 6 years old, “consummating” the marriage — or, in modern parlance, raping her — when she was 9.
The point of the Saudi fatwa, however, is not that girls as young as 9 can have sex, based on Muhammad’s example, but rather that there is no age limit whatsoever; the only question open to consideration is whether the girl is physically capable of handling her husband/rapist. Fawzan documents this point by quoting Ibn Batal’s authoritative exegesis of Sahih Bukhari:
The ulema [Islam’s interpreters] have agreed that it is permissible for fathers to marry off their small daughters, even if they are in the cradle. But it is not permissible for their husbands to have sex with them unless they are capable of being placed beneath and bearing the weight of the men. And their capability in this regard varies based on their nature and capacity. Aisha was 6 when she married the prophet, but he had sex with her when she was 9 [i.e., when she was deemed capable].
Fawzan concludes his fatwa with a warning: “It behooves those who call for setting a minimum age for marriage to fear Allah and not contradict his Sharia, or try to legislate things Allah did not permit. For laws are Allah’s province; and legislation is his excusive right, to be shared by none other. And among these are the rules governing marriage.”'

Vile? Disgusting? Sanctioned by Fatwa...

Lecturer whose hand was chopped off acquitted of hurting religious sentiments

This happened in India not even a Muslim country:
'A Kerala college lecturer whose hand was chopped off allegedly by radicals over his comments on the Prophet Mohammed in a question paper, has been acquitted by a court of charges of hurting religious sentiments, reports PTI.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate at Thodupuzha on Wednesday let off TJ Joseph, accepting his plea that he had prepared questions for the graduate course "without any mala fide intention."

Mr Joseph, a former lecturer of Malayalam literature at the Newman College, was attacked on his way to church in July, 2010, by religious activists who chopped off his right hand. The attackers allegedly told him he was being punished for his "sacrilegious" reference to the Prophet in the question paper he had set for second-year students.

Despite the shock and condemnation that followed the attack, Mr Joseph was sacked by his college. (read) His plea challenging the dismissal is pending before the University Appellate Tribunal.

Mr Joseph was quoted by PTI has saying that he is writing a book about his experience, which will be published only after the case is over.'

Why are so many Muslims so intolerant?

Those genoicidal Israelis

As posted on Biased BBC by 'Pounce', I couldn't have worded it better myself:
'The bBC and its customary Anti-Israel article and half the story

Israel-Gaza conflict: One year on

Israel launched Operation Pillar of Defence, which it says was aimed at ending rocket fire from Gaza, with the killing of a Hamas military leader. Israel subsequently carried out hundreds of air strikes on the territory, while Hamas and other groups fired hundreds of rockets into Israel.
According to the United Nations, a total of 174 Palestinians were killed, at least 168 of them by Israeli military action, including 101 believed to have been civilians. Hamas’ health ministry says 185 Palestinians, mostly civilians, were killed. Two Israeli soldiers and four Israeli civilians were killed by rocket or mortar fire from Gaza, the Israeli authorities say

So the bBC reminisces, when Israel went to war against Gaza in which to try and stop missile being launched from Gaza into Israel. (funny enough hours after the Emir of Qatar visited and said he would hand over lots of money) but that is by the by. Have a look at the death figures the bBC quotes in which to play the victim card for Hamas. Remember that Gaza is one of the most populated strips of land in the world. I quote:

Israel subsequently carried out hundreds of air strikes on the territory,

Resulting in:

a total of 174 Palestinians were killed, at least 168 of them by Israeli military action, including 101 believed to have been civilians.

So the most heavily armed airforce in the Middle East which carried out hundreds of air strikes (Actually the figure is in excess of 1500 air strikes) on a mostly civilian population and only manages to kill 174 people.

Am I missing something here, but is either the IDF that pants that in carrying out 1500+ air strike they only managed to kill 178 people in one of the most densely populated strips of land in the world, or did they go out of their way in which to target only those who live by the sword. Anybody who has been near a 1000lb bomb when it is dropped will understand what I mean (I was over a mile away)
and yet the bBC doesn’t look at that angle instead it blinds the reader to the blood lust of the jew. which the facts don’t support.'
The BBC's hatred of Israel has fed a deep anti-Israel feeling in this country. I am regularly told that Israel is 'uniquely evil' and am told of all sorts of hateful things that Israel has done, most of which are either made up or nowhere near as bad as that carried out by its Arab neighbours (and Iran who don't like to be called Arabs) but I am also told that as Israel claims to be democratic it should be judged by stricter standards - yes holding Israel (the only nominally Jewish state) to  higher standards than it's very Muslim neighbours is anti-Semitic but then so are most of the anti-Israel brigade.

The BBC are so obvious in their bias

The Bank of England governor, Mark Carney, has said that the UK economy will grow faster and unemployment will fall sooner than expected. So how do the BBC report this?

'UK recovery takes hold, say Bank'
'Peston: Is recovery too robust?'

The BBC aren't scared of showing their bias are they?

Whatever the Robert Peston piece says, the headline for it sends a very deliberate message to the person browsing the news.

David Dimbleby got his tattoo wrong as well

Boing Boing reports that:
'Famous, respected UK journalist and TV presenter David Dimbleby, 75, recently got his first ink: of a six-legged scorpion. Unfortunately, scorpions are arachnids, with eight legs. The scramble is on to identify a face-saving species that the tattoo could represent: the best bet so far is the Whip Scorpion, which has six good legs and two crappy, vestigial ones used as feelers; and various scorpion-esque arthropods.'
Famous - yes, respected - not necessarily.

"No shit, Sherlock"

I for one am fed-up with the way that England, no let's be honest, the way that mostly London and the South East of England support the Scots via the Barnett Formula. In return what do we get? Scots voting on English legislation when the same does not apply in reverse - the West Lothian Question, Scots taking English money whilst moaning about being 'ruled by the English' - since the last three Prime Ministers have been either Scottish, Scottish educated or have Scottish roots I'll take that claim with more than a pinch of salt.

Hey Twitter, where's my $595?

Twitter's floatation has provided a handy basis for measuring the value that each Twitter user has contributed to that company's valuation. Time has produced a simple calculator that tells you how much Twitter 'owes' you based on the value you created for it.

 So where's my $595?

North Korea 'Publicly Executes 80 People' - Yahoo News UK

'North Korea has reportedly publicly executed 80 people for watching South Korean television shows. The unconfirmed killings, said to be the first known large-scale executions by the Kim Jong-Un regime, took place across seven cities earlier this month, a source told South Korea's  JoongAng Ilbo Daily.

Eight people had their heads covered with white sacks and were tied to stakes at Shinpong Stadium in Wonsan, in Kangwon Province, as they were shot dead by North Korean forces, the newspaper reported.

Witnesses apparently told the source that authorities forced some 10,000 people, including children, to watch the execution."I heard from the residents that they watched in terror as the corpses were riddled by machine-gun fire," the source was quoted as saying.'

But to too many anti Semitic idiots, this is of no interest as Israel is the 'evil state'.

The Bechdel Test

The Bechdel Test received quite a lot of coverage on the BBC, Women's Hour were especially excited by the idea of rating films according to how female friendly they were - if only all films could be like Fried Green Tomatoes!

Here's a cartoon that explains a problem with the Bechdel Test...

Well I did really enjoy Alien, mostly for the action and suspense but not at all for the female to female conversation between Ripley and Lambert.

However these images may also partly explain my fondness for Alien and the soft spot that I still have for Sigourney Weaver...

Is the BBC stacking its audiences against UKIP?

'... the BBC could be spicing up its debates by placing people in the audience "who can be relied on to take a rehearsed and provocative line" after producers identify them through BBC-run phone-ins where their names and opinions have been logged for future consideration as audience members. '

To be fair it's not just UKIP that the BBC rig their audiences against, it's the Conservatives as well.

The 1991 World Championship 4 x 400 final - When the Brits beat the Americans - Black, Redmonds, Regis and Akabusi

I remember this well, Bambi on the opening leg, Derek Redmond soon to be famous for needing his father's help to finish the Olympic 400 metre final, Jon Regis doing a typically great 400 metre run (why did he not run it as an individual) and Kris Akabusi showing that on his day a 400 metre hurdles bronze medallist can beat a 400 metre flat gold medallist.

This post should please Jack Whitehall.

Anyway I went to uni with the great grandson of John Venn.
Not at quite the same time – but we overlapped.

    Wonderful!

Barack Obama and health care

There's an image that I've never seen on the BBC, I wonder why!

Thanks to Theo Spark for the spot.

"The question was, do you get through a lot of eggs?"

One of the funniest bits of A League Of Their Own as Richard Ayode grills Jamie Rednapp about eggs.

I am in agreement with Alistair McGowan

I've just watched Room 101 on BBC One and find myself in agreement with Alistair McGowan. He wanted to put children into Room 101 because they are taking over and beer drinking because eating ice cream is better and more civilised.

Update: He also wants to ban headphones that force you to  listen to someone else's choice of 'music'.
