'Julia Hartley-Brewer got into a fiery dispute with a member of Labour's National Executive Committee over the texts David Davis sent about Diane Abbott. 

The Brexit Secretary has issued an apology after texts in which he appeared to insult the shadow home secretary's appearance were leaked to the press. 

In the texts, Davis was asked if he had tried to hug Abbott in a bar after the final vote on the Article 50 bill in the House of Commons, and replied "I am not blind."

Claudia Webbe, a former advisor to Ken Livingstone, said the texts were "racist, sexist, was absolutely vile and should not have happened."

However, Julia took the view that David Davis was "treating her like one of the boys", and challenged her to explain why the texts were racist.

Julia also rather cheekily asked Claudia whether she herself fancies David Davis - a question which didn't go down well..."
