Princess Michael of Kent sorry for wearing 'racist' brooch per BBC News

'Blackamoor figures and sculptures are exotic figures which usually depict African men and were prominent in the 17th and 18th centuries.'

Why is that 'racist'?

  1. I just wonder how many of those complaining were white "do-gooders" and how many were actual black people.
When I was working, I had a friend from Barbados who got quite angry about the people who complained about racism. He felt that they were the racists; they were assuming he couldn't decide for himself what was racist, that he couldn't complain on his own behalf and that if he wasn't offended, he ought to be! A good argument in my view.
As he liked to point out, if any of them wanted to see real racism, they should visit the A&E at the local hospital, where his wife was a nurse, during a Friday or Saturday evening shift
