How do you fight a suicidal nation

Double Tapper is a blogger who is not afraid to tackle the big issues or fears telling it like it is. This piece is scary in its conclusions but well worth a read. It includes some quotations from Iranian leaders that illustrate what the problem is:
'"We have a strategy drawn up for the destruction of Anglo-Saxon civilization... we must make use of everything we have at hand to strike at this front by means of our suicide operations or by means of our missiles." - Hassan Abbasi, "strategic adviser" to Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

"We are in the process of an historical war between the World of Arrogance [the West] and the Islamic world, and this war has been going on for hundreds of years... Is it possible for us to witness a world without America and Zionism? ...you had best know that this... goal [is] attainable." - Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

"Our revolution's main mission is to pave the way for the reappearance of the 12th Imam, the Mahdi." - Mahmoud Ahmanutjob

"Is there art that is more beautiful, more divine, and more eternal than the art of martyrdom? A nation with martyrdom knows no captivity." - Same nutjob
And then some decent analysis of which this is just one extract:

'How do we fight a nation that is hell-bent on destroying you, at all costs? How to you deter such a nation when that very deterrence is seen as the ultimate reward? How do you frighten a person who spends each day conjuring up the scariest Armageddon scenarios and gleefully pursues them?

First, let's think about how you don't fight them: you don't 'engage' them. You don't talk to them. You don't deter them. MAD worked fine during the cold war against the evil (but quite sane) Soviet Empire. It is not relevant here. Similarly, the Samson Option is also not a valid military strategy. The Samson Option is a theoretical doctrine (not officially adopted by the Israeli government) that brings down the house around the Philistines, and in effect wipes out the country that destroyed you with a second strike capability. The Samson Option is not a viable military strategy as while it may provide some satisfaction to the surviving three submarine crews, it does nothing for the victims of the nuclear holocaust.'
Do read the whole piece but it won't be a cheering experience.

Gorillas are special

A very moving video that should remind us humans how much we have in common with other of God's creatures

'http://aquavitafilms.com In the African jungle, conservationist Damian Aspinall searches for Kwibi, a lowland gorilla he hasn't seen for 5 years. Kwibi grew up with Damian at his Howletts Wild Animal Park in England. When he was five, he was released into the forests of Gabon, West Africa as part of conservation programme to re-introduce gorillas back into the wild. Now Kwibi's 10 years old, much bigger and stronger. Will Damian find him? Will Kwibi attack him? '

''Here we are, the Jews again.''

The Telegraph report that the unpleasant Gerald Kaufman has been at it again.
'Sir Gerald Kaufman, a Labour MP, has apologised after exclaiming ''here we are, the Jews again'' when a fellow Labour MP stood up in the House of Commons.

The Manchester Gorton MP made the remark from his seat when Louise Ellman made an intervention during a debate on the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Bill.

It is understood that Mrs Ellman, who represents Liverpool Riverside, was ''very upset'' by the remarks and made a formal complaint to the Labour Party. '
The apology was not exactly fulsome and in fact was the sort of mealy mouthed one that we have come to expect from Labour MPs over the years.

Gerald Kaufman is not only rather unpleasant he also pushed the expenses system quite hard. In case you had forgotten here is The Telegraph article about his expenses, here's a few extracts (my emphasis):
'Sir Gerald Kaufman charged the taxpayer £1,851 for a rug he imported from a New York antiques centre and tried to claim £8,865 for a television.

...

On one occasion he asked a civil servant “why are you querying these expenses?” and on another threatened to make a complaint unless a dispute was settled by noon on the day in question. In one document, an official in the fees office noted that invoices Sir Gerald had submitted took him to “within 6p” of his annual limit. He also claimed £1,262 for a gas bill that was £1,055 in credit.

Between 2001 and 2008 the Manchester Gorton MP, one of the Labour party’s longest-serving members, claimed a total of £115,109 in additional costs allowances on his London flat, which he owns outright. In June 2006, he submitted a claim for three months’ expenses totalling £14,301.60, which included £8,865 for a Bang & Olufsen Beovision 40in LCD television. The maximum amount MPs are allowed to claim for TVs is £750.

...

In March 2007 Sir Gerald submitted a claim for £1,461.83 for a “second-hand rug replacing 24-year-old carpet”, with an additional £389.91 for “customs duty on rug”, which was paid. The receipt showed that Sir Gerald bought the rug from the Showplace Antique Centre on West 25th Street in Manhattan for $2,750. The Green Book strictly forbids “antique, luxury or premium grade” furnishings.

...

Sir Gerald was also challenged over regular claims for “odd jobs” which he submitted without receipts at a rate of £245 every month — £5 below the then limit for unreceipted expenses. He replied: “Why are you querying these expenses?”

On May 18, a senior official in the fees office noted details of another conversation about the kitchen and bathroom, saying: “MP believes that I have seen a detailed breakdown of the £12,416.51 claim he has submitted [for that financial year]… MP is becoming agitated and will be making an official complaint against me, if this matter is not resolved by 12 noon today.” When detailed invoices were submitted, they included £575 for undertile heating in the shower room and £2,695 for Bosch and Miele kitchen appliances. Sir Gerald was asked to attend a meeting with officials on the matter and the fees office eventually agreed to pay him £15,329 of the £28,834. Sir Gerald accepted, saying that he wanted to “draw a line under the issue”.

In June last year Sir Gerald submitted a £1,262 claim for his gas bill, covering the period March 2006 to May 2008. The fees office pointed out that his gas account was £1,055.60 in credit, and only agreed to pay £122.46.

A note in the file on July 10, 2008 quotes Sir Gerald as saying: “I received a letter from [official] saying not pay as is credit. I paid £1,252 THIS year so want reimbursing!!!”

The fees office wrote to him on July 14 to say: “You might wish to ask British Gas to repay you the credit.”

Sir Gerald’s claims between 2004 and June 2008 also included £19,200 for food — close to the maximum — and £4,692 for cleaning.

Last night Sir Gerald offered to repay the money for the rug and admitted that his claim for the £8,000 television was “a bit daft”.

He said that his flat had been in need of complete refurbishment because he had “neglected” it over the years and he had overclaimed for the gas bill because he “misunderstood” the invoice.

He said that his odd jobs bill was actually more than £245 a month, so he had claimed close to the limit. His food claim was “appropriate” because his job meant he often had to “spend a lot of money” eating out, he added. '
Unpleasant and a trougher to boot.

"We don’t think that it’s fair for us to continue borrowing money to live a lifestyle that we simply can’t afford – burdening our children with unnecessary debt that they will have to pay back."

Rally Against Debt are bravely trying to counter the accepted media narrative in the UK re the evil of massive spending cuts. Somehow I doubt that they will succeed but I wish them well, although part of me does wonder if this is a satirical effort...

A well mannered, polite rally for civilised people who don’t wish to see their hard earned money being spent on pointless government initiatives and instead would like government spending to actually fall and our national debt to be cut.

We don’t think that it’s fair for us to continue borrowing money to live a lifestyle that we simply can’t afford – burdening our children with unnecessary debt that they will have to pay back.

Any visits to Fortnum and Mason’s by protestors will only be to marvel at their selection of quality goods and perhaps make the occasional purchase.

Bonfires will be strictly forbidden: it’s out of season anyway

Trips to see Vodafone and other high street chains will result in congratulations to the company for providing jobs and growth in the UK.

Finally some British Muslims ready to stand up for what is true and right, somehow I doubt that they will get positive coverage from the BBC

Melanie Phillips writes:
'A warm welcome to a new and very brave kid on the block – British Muslims for Israel. As I have often said, where someone stands on Israel is for me the litmus test of whether they are a decent and rational human being or pose a threat not merely to Jewish interests but to civilised values. Unfortunately, even among those many Muslims who are opposed to the jihad and support western democracy, animosity towards Israel often runs horrifyingly deep. Any Muslim who speaks up in defence of Israel runs significant personal risks. So those behind British Muslims for Israel, which has emerged from the Institute for Middle Eastern Democracy, merit a huge amount of praise and support. They also offer a ray of hope for the future. They show that there are Muslims who pass that key civilisational litmus test with flying colours.

Listen here to their spokesman Hasan Afzal, explaining that the group was set up  to counter the dangerous notion which is gaining ground that Israel should cease to exist at all; that Muslims get a better deal if they live in Israel rather than  Saudi Arabia; and even that he would happily volunteer to be involved in Israeli hasbara – or public relations -- in the face of the ‘sophisticated internet campaign to delegitimise Israel’.
If they go on in this vein, not only will these Muslims show they are very much more enlightened, decent and rational than so many others in the British intelligentsia – they will be doing rather better at hasbara and show rather more courage in openly saying what so desperately needs to be said than the Jewish community itself.'
I am very pleased but somehow doubt that the BBC will pay this group any heed, after all they are running counter to the BBC's narrative of an evil  Israel oppressing poor innocent Palestinian Muslims.

An interesting email re the London School of Economics

DISGRACED JOURNALIST RESIGNS JUST HOURS AFTER APPOINTMENT TO LONDON SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS

In a speedy turn of events, the journalist Nir Rosen has resigned his position from the London School of Economics.  The original story follows below.  A statement from the London School of Economics said, “Nir Rosen today resigned his temporary visiting fellowship at LSE - which was an unpaid position. LSE had already made clear it condemned the offensive comments he made about Lara Logan and others."

Raheem Kassam, Director of Student Rights said, “It is an incredible U-turn by Rosen who clearly understands that he would be further compromising the LSE.  How the university management even could appoint this man in the first place is anyone’s guess.  He clearly acknowledges that he deserves no such role as his resignation insists and now we need to see a full transparent investigation into this ridiculous occurrence.”

Contact: Raheem Kassam, Director, Student Rights – Raheem.Kassam@studentrights.org.uk
Notes for Editors: Student Rights is a two year old anti-extremism pressure group focusing on university campuses.  The organisation played an integral role in exposing the LSE-Gaddafi money and continues to monitor hate-speech, intolerance, and bias on campuses.

ORIGINAL STORY:

LONDON SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS’ GADDAFI FUNDED CENTRE APPOINTS ‘DISGRACED’ JOURNALIST WITH HEZBOLLAH FACEBOOK LINK
It has emerged that London School of Economics has appointed Nir Rosen as a research fellow at the Gaddafi funded Global Governance Centre.  Rosen recently quit the New York University 'in disgrace' following offensive tweets regarding CBS and CNN correspondents who were physically and sexually abused in Egypt during the recent uprising.
Reportedly to be paid up to £50,000 from the LSE, Rosen has also been criticised for his Facebook account which allegedly hosted a picture of his son wearing a Hezbollah (terrorist organisation) t-shirt.   Raheem Kassam, Director of Student Rights has said, "If what Mr. Rosen is alleged to have said is true, then this is a sickening twist in an already lurid saga of extremists and hateful people using the LSE as the Gaddafi's recent did."
This weekend, Mr Rosen used his Twitter account to announce: "I am now a Fellow at the London School of Economics Center for the Study of Global Governance.
So now I write Center "centre". Cheerio!"  These reports will be especially damaging for the LSE given their recent admission of guilt over the Gaddafi bloody money, stories of their Middle East Centre bias and the previous incident regarding an alleged member of Hizb-ut-Tahrir teaching on campus.

Kassam went on to comment, "If indeed Mr. Rosen is a Hezbollah sympathiser as some reports suggest, then the management of the LSE must immediately halt operations of the Global Governance Centre and launch a full transparent investigation."

Am I right to be excited by the apparent defection of Moussa Koussa?

In theory the defection of Gaddafi's Foreign Minister and former spy chief Moussa Koussa should be good news as it will weaken Colonel Gaddafi's regime that bit more and also maybe bring out some facts that otherwise may remain hidden. Facts such as who was it in the Libyan embassy that shot and murdered WPC Yvonne Fletcher, what was the real level of involvement of Libya in the Lockerbie bombing and what deals were done (formally or informally, directly or indirectly) with Tony Blair, Gordon Brown and other Labour figures in order to secure the release of the Lockerbie bomber Abdelbaset Mohmed Ali al-Megrahi?

What worries me is two fold; first that Moussa Koussa will not necessarily tell the truth about any of the above events as he is looking to save his skin and maybe advance his career (to become the interim President of Libya?) and so will only reveal what he thinks he has to and secondly this Conservative government lacks the killer instinct (that Tony Blair and Gordon Brown's government's had) to push for all Moussa Koussa knows about the invoilvement of the last Labour government in the release of al-Megrahi etc. In a similar situation the last Labvour government would have tried to get as much dirt as possible on the Conservatives, David Cameron and his team seem to not want to play as dirty and just as in the last election they will suffer for it.

So whilst Moussa Koussa's defection looks like good news, I have my doubts as to what will result from it will be as  advantageous to the truth coming out as people are hoping.

PS: It seems that I have misspelled 'involvement' in the above, however the misspelling seems somehow appropriate for the matter being discussed, so I have left it uncorrected.

It's the return of 'Israel Apartheid Week'

The David Horowitz Freedom Center's chilling video about the campaign in US college campuses and elsewhere to destroy Israel. I defy any Jew to watch this video and feel scared. I defy any right thinking non-Jew to do the same.

Please note the quotation from the man Ken Livingstone invited to London and defended by saying that he represented 'a more progressive strand of Islam than the Wahhabi sect'. Does this sound 'progressive'? Does this sound like the words of a man that the mayor of a multicultural city like London should welcome?
"Throughout history, Allah has imposed upon the [Jews] people who would punish them for their corruption. The last punishment was carried out by Hitler. By means of all the things he did to them – even though they exaggerated this issue – he managed to put them in their place. This was divine punishment for them. Allah willing, the next time will be at the hand of the believers."
Those words were part of a speech by Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi aired on Al-Jazeera on 30 January 2009. What do you have to say about your 'progressive' Islamist now Ken?

Thanks to Theo Spark and American Power for the spot.

"What is second base now? Fisting!"

The topically named Joe Tripoli being interviewed about his Naughty Comedy Show. Leaving aside the jokes the section from 3:34 to 5:40 about how sensitive 'progressives' are about jokes at their expense.

Is Big Brother tracking your every move?

Zeit online (in English) explains how:
'Green party politician Malte Spitz sued to have German telecoms giant Deutsche Telekom hand over six months of his phone data that he then made available to ZEIT ONLINE. We combined this geolocation data with information relating to his life as a politician, such as Twitter feeds, blog entries and websites, all of which is all freely available on the internet.

By pushing the play button, you will set off on a trip through Malte Spitz's life. The speed controller allows you to adjust how fast you travel, the pause button will let you stop at interesting points. In addition, a calendar at the bottom shows when he was in a particular location and can be used to jump to a specific time period. Each column corresponds to one day.'
Fascinating stuff and it does make you wonder about the position in the UK where all network operators store their customers' historical locations for a year. The police aren't allowed to ask for the kind of data Malte Spitz obtained in Germany, they are supposedly restricted to asking specific questions such as where a phone was at a specific time. However the data is available for interrogation should the law be changed... Please note therefore that it would take only a minor change in the law and a reasonable increase in processing power for all of our telephone's movements to be tracked in real time 24/7.

Melanie Phillips on Israeli television accusing the British media of inciting hatred and murder of Israelis

Melanie Phillips expressing her disdain for the British media and the Israeli government's failure to standup for itself to this media. She's oh so right but the British media, especially the BBC, will never take notice of 'mad Melanie' as I have heard her called.

Islam's Role in the Holocaust

Written because whilst Germany has apologised for its major part in the holocaust and the attempted destruction of world Jewry, the Islamic world has not apologised for its part. Atlas Shrugged has 29 posts detailing the active participation of Muslim troops in the German armed forces and in the carrying out of the holocaust. The 29 articles are long and exhaustive, here are just a few very short extracts:
'Many Muslims fought on the German side during World War II. The Wehrmacht had six legions with a Muslim majority and the SS had three Muslim divisions, a brigade and a Waffenbrigade. Each Muslim unit got a mullah as an adviser. In November 1944, an SS mullah school was established in Dresden, founded by Himmler.

...

Ideological whip this alliance was the notorious anti-Semite, Mohammed Amin al-Husseini (1893-1974), who as Grand Mufti of Jerusalem had a certain religious authority. The Muslims from the Soviet Union (Azerbajan, Crimea and Volga Tatars, North Caucasians, Bashkir, Uzbek and other Central Asian peoples) wer with other members of non-Russian minority peoples of the Soviet Union (Armenians, Georgians, Ukrainians) in the armed forces as may be determined Ostlegionen, in which only Non-Russians were. They were recruited mainly among Soviet prisoners of war.

...

What did Heinrich Himmler and Grand Mufti Amin el-Husseini have to do with each other? Oh, here, Küntzel again. "Heinrich Himmler enthused about the ideological bond between National Socialism and Islam. " He also introduced the term, "Muselgermanen" and el-Husseini pointed out the ideological similarities between Muslims and Germans. These were said to include obedience and discipline, the will to battle, and the honor of falling in battle, community, family and offspring, the glorification of labor and creating, and relations to the Jews. The Mufti declared, 'in fighting Judaism, Islam and the Nazis are coming very close to one another.'

...

Islamic Jew hatred. It's what drives the genocide of the Jews in the Muslim world today. It's what drove the Muslim world in their partnership with Hitler, and it fueled the oppression, humiliation, and slaughter of the Jews throughtout Islamic history.
The role of the Mufti and the Muslim world in World War II has been whitewashed from history. Why? So that they might rise again to commit the same unspeakable, horrific crimes againt humanity?
Haj Amin al-Husseini should have been executed at Nuremberg. Instead, he was given the same status of The Jewish Agency at the UN in 1947, when it was debating the partition of the Jewish State, despite the stunning evidence (documents, files, etc.) against him (outlined here) and presented to the UN.
According to testimony by Nazi war criminals, the Mufti's influence was critical to the German decision to annihilate the Jews of Europe. At the Nuremberg Trials in July 1946, Eichmann's deputy Dieter Wisliceny (subsequently executed as a war criminal) testified: (here)
"The Mufti was one of the initiators of the systematic extermination of European Jewry and had been a collaborator and adviser of Eichmann and Himmler in the execution of this plan... He was one of Eichmann's best friends and had constantly incited him to accelerate the extermination measures. I heard him say, accompanied by Eichmann, he had visited incognito the gas chambers of Auschwitz."
Now we find that the Nazis promised the leader of the Muslim world, Haj Amin al-Husseini,
leadership of Palestine after slaughter of its Jews, according to a US report.

...

A newly released report by the US National Archives details the close collaborative relationship between Nazi leaders and the grand mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini, indicating that Nazi authorities planned to use Husseini as their leader after their conquest of Palestine.

Husseini was paid handsomely by the Nazis for his efforts, recruited Muslims for the SS and was promised that he would be made Palestine’s leader after its Jewish population of 350,000 had been murdered.

The report, Hitler’s Shadow: Nazi War Criminals, US Intelligence and the Cold War, was prepared on the basis of thousands of documents declassified under the 1998 Nazi War Crimes Disclosure Act.

“Hitler’s Shadow” is an addendum to a 2004 US government report, US Intelligence and the Nazis.

The new report’s authors, Norman J.W. Goda of the University of Florida and Richard Breitman of American University, said the addendum was particularly important.

“We thought the information was significant and detailed,” Breitman told The Jerusalem Post regarding the newly uncovered facts on the Jerusalem mufti in particular.

“We thought the April 1945 contract between the [German] Foreign Office and Husseini was striking evidence of an ideological collaboration both sides hoped would continue after the war.”

Husseini, who died in Beirut in 1974, was apparently paid 50,000 marks per month, and 80,000 additional marks a month for living expenses, according to a contract with the Germans. This was a time when a German field officer typically earned 25,000 marks a year.

According to the report, on November 28, 1941, Adolf Hitler told Husseini that the Afrika Korps would “liberate” Arabs in the Middle East and that “Germany’s only objective there would be the destruction of the Jews.”

“SS leaders and Husseini both claimed that Nazism and Islam had common values as well as common enemies – above all, the Jews,” the report states.

...

What follows are excerpts from the 1947 Maurice Pearlman book, The Mufti of Jerusalem:

“Perish Judea”
Extermination of European Jewry

“Arabs, rise and fight as one for your sacred rights. Kill the Jews wherever you find them. This pleases God, history and religion. This saves your honour, God is with you.”

This, and similar appeals recurred time and again in the ex-Mufti’s broadcast addresses, during the war. They occur in almost every extract reproduced in the chapter on Haj Amin’s propaganda activities. It was known during the war that Jews in Europe were being exterminated. It was known that the ex- Mufti had had a hand in the massacres of Jews in the Arab countries. But it was not known until after that war that Haj Amin’s anti-Jewish activities had extended beyond the incitement stage.

It has now been established that five million seven hundred thousand Jews in Europe were exterminated in Nazi concentration camps. It has now also been established that the Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin el Husseini, played an active role in that unprecedented massacre of a people. Records found in Nazi archives and evidence produced at the Nuremberg trial reveal in specific terms that the ex-Mufti was a leading henchman of the SS Obersturmbannfuehrer Eichmann, principal executive officer in the liquidation of European Jewry. It is now established that, but for Haj Amin, the scale of murder might not have been so extensive, and hundreds of thousands of Jewish lives might have been saved.

Suspicions that the ex-Mufti’s voice was not being used for the microphone alone were first aroused in 1942 when the first European Jewish refugees managed to reach Palestine. They brought stories from some of Europe’s ghettoes where German Templars (see chapter 9, page 55) were reported to be in charge of the liquidation of Jews under the supreme direction of Eichmann. Eichmann, who had himself spent some years in Palestine as a Nazi agent, was an expert on Jewish affairs, and he had directed the Gestapo department of Jewish affairs at the Gestapo head office in Berlin since 1936. It was he who before the war had directed the expropriation and dispatch to concentration camps of German Jews. It was he who after the war had started organized the deportation of Jews from Germany and the occupied territories to what eventually became the extermination camps in German, Czechoslovakia, and Poland. It was he who planned the gas chamber method of mass murder.

It was assumed that there might be some connection between Haj Amin and Eichmann as soon as it was learned that he had roped in the Palestinian German Templars as some of his key men. This assumption was strengthened bt a Radio Berlin broadcast of 5th October, 1943, which reported that “Haj Amin el Husseini, Mufti of Jerusalem, has arrived in Frankfurt for the purpose of visiting the research Institute on Jewish Problem. At the time of his visit, Haj Amin declared that the Arabs and the Germans are partners and allies in the battle against world Jewry.”

Subsequent German broadcasts showed that the ex-Mufti was a leading figure at most of the anti-Jewish conventions in Germany and the occupied territories. In July, 1943, the Nazis announced that, unable to attend that Nazi conference of journalists held in Vienna, the Mufti had sent them a message “congratulating them on the success of their anti-Jewish campaign and conveyed special greetings to Arab and Indian delegates.”

Then came a hint in one of Haj Amin’s broadcasts which was not fully understood at the time. In a Berlin radio speech on 21st September 1944, the ex-Mufti asked: “Is it not in your power, O Arabs, to repulse the Jews whose number does not exceed eleven millions?”

Why “eleven millions”? No one outside Germany knew at the time the scale of Jewish extermination. It was known that before the war the Jewish population numbered nearly seventeen millions. The ex-Mufti’s figure was written off at the time as a slip of the tongue, or an error in the script. But now the facts are known. It was no arithmetic error. Haj Amin knew then what only Hitler, Himmler and Eichmann knew: that more than five million Jews had been liquidated.

But real evidence of Haj Amin’s complicity emerged only with the defeat of Nazism, the Allied occupation of Germany, and the evidence of produced at the Nuremberg trial.

The first revealing document to be discovered was Document No. 1752- PS headed “Preparations already made for the International Congress.” It was dated “Berlin, 15th June 1944,” and it opened with this sentence: “Reichsleader Alfred Rosenberg received the order from the Fuhrer to stage an anti-Jewish congress….It was fixed for the 11th July and held in the eastern Reich, under the auspices of Himmler, Goebbels, Dr. Frank and Von Ribbentrop. Representatives of most of the satellite countries attended it. The document adds:

Italy: Minister for National Enlightenment, Mezzasoma (hon. Committee).

The former Minister of State, Preziosi (congress committee and congress lecturer.

France: Minister for Education, Avel Bonnard (hon. Committee).

Secretary of State, Paul Marion (congress committee).

Hungary : Minister for the Interior, von Jarosh (hon. Committee and congress lecturer).

Holland: Leader of the NSB, Mussert (personally invited by Reichsleader Rosenberg during the latter’s stay in Holland).

Arabia: The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem (hon. Committee and congress lecturer).

Norway: At the present moment, a representative of Reichsleader Rosenberg has arrived here in order personally to convey an invitation to a Prime Minister Quisling to attend.”

It is a digression but nevertheless a point of interest that of all these congress committee members mentioned above, the ex-Mufti is the only one who is free and alive. The rest were either executed or condemned to death in absentia. Mezzasoma was shot with Mussolini on 28th April, 1945; Marion is, at the time of writing, in a French prison awaiting trail; Bonnard fled to Barcelona with Laval and was sentenced to death in absentia on 7th April 1946; Jarossh was condemned to death by a Hungarian People’s Court in January, 1946; Quisling of Norway was sentenced to death and executed 24th October, 1945.'

The reports go on and on and on and can be a little repetitive as the same subjects and photos do crop up more than once however this is a story that hardly ever gets a mention in the main stream media (MSM) and is one that explains a lot about modern Islam's war against Israel and Jews in general. Why this story is not something that the MSM wants to explore I will leave to your imagination but I think the reasons are self-evident.

The sort of people that make my blood boil

On Canadian TV Michael Coren and David ? take on Krisna Saravanamutta and Marilyn ? The ignorance and doublespeak employed by the left is right on display and I love the horror expressed when David ? uses the word Islamophobia.

Here's another piece of Michael Coren video this time "Is it about Islam" and he obviously knows more than his guest Andrea Calver on this matter as well about Sudan and elsewhere. Michael Coren's points about the difference between India and Pakistan are also well made.

Finally here is Michael Coren interviewing Mark Steyn about his book 'America Alone' and the fraud of multiculturalism. It's odd to see Mark Steyn being given a non confrontational interview, rather refreshing...

Someone else who doesn't know the difference between deficit and debt - this time Johann Hari

Johann Hari describes himself at great length on his website, take a read of the 672 words and wonder what he has missed. Oh yes he's missed 'economically ignorant'. In this piece entitled 'The biggest lie in British politics' Johann Hari first claims that:
'British politics today is dominated by a lie. This lie is making it significantly more likely you will lose your job, your business, or your home. The lie gives a false explanation for how we came to be in this crisis, and prescribes a medicine that will worsen our disease. Yet it is hardly being challenged.

Here’s the lie. We are in a debt crisis. Our national debt is dangerously and historically high. We are being threatened by the international bond markets. The way out is to eradicate our deficit rapidly. Only that will restore “confidence”, and therefore economic growth. Every step of this program is false, and endangers you.

...

Our debt is not high by historical standards, and it is not high by international standards. For example, Japan’s national debt is three times bigger than ours, and they are still borrowing at good rates.'
I think this is a poor argument and may return as to why this is the case another time. However it is the next passage that needs to be repeated:
'David Cameron claims that, despite these facts, they need to cut our debt by slashing our spending because the bond markets demand it. If they do not obey, then our national credit rating will be downgraded, and we will have to pay much higher interest on our debt. But here’s the flaw in that plan. That’s not what the bond markets say.'
There's just one problem, actually there's several, David Cameron isn't planning on cutting the debt at all (if only he was) he's just planning on cutting the deficit. The deficit is the annual overspend, the debt is the total amount owed. If the deficit is just reduced and that is all that the coalition government is planning then the debt is still increasing.

Johann Hari ends his article with this thought:
'The real reason why David Cameron is imposing these massive cuts has nothing to do with the national debt. It is because he regards himself as, in his words, “the child of Thatcher”, and he wants to pursue her agenda harder and faster than she ever dreamed. He can do the difficult job of selling that to the British people if he wishes – but he should stop doing it on the basis of a swollen, suppurating lie. '
I end my article with this thought: If Johann Hari does not understand the difference between debt and deficit then may I suggest that he should stop pontificating about matters of economics or more people may start to agree with Busted (see the end of his profile page).

Blame the bankers, always blame the banker and the UK's debt is not serious

Mark Littlewood, of the Institute of Economic Affairs, versus Paul Brandon of the Right to Work Campaign. One seems to be talking sense and one nonsense. However I really don't think that David Cameron and George Osborne are ready for the hell that the left are prepared to unleash on this government later this year. Neither David Cameron or George Osborne look like they will have the bottle that got Margaret Thatcher through the miners strike.

Israel's primary partner in peace?

Never mind about Hamas, at least Fatah recognise Israel's right to exist, so the argument goes. Or not, as this protest made to the United Nations explains (my emphasis):
'WORLD UNION FOR PROGRESSIVE JUDAISM
UN HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL – 16th session (28 Feb. – 25 March 2011)
Statement by David G. Littman (read for him by an NGO colleague) 21 March (pm)

The PLO Charter still precludes the possibility of a peaceful solution

Thank you, sir. I have been asked to read this statement for Mr David Littman who is unfortunately indisposed.

Sir, Israel is surrounded by states calling for its destruction, which has created a climate of fear for all Israelis.

Despite many calls for the 1968 Fatah Charter to be changed, the main principles remain: (1)

In the Palestinian state only Jews who lived in Palestine before 1917 will be recognized as citizens [Article 6]:
– Only the Palestinian Arabs possess the right of self-determination, and the entire country belongs to them [Articles 3 and 21].
Any solution that does not involve total liberation of the country is rejected. This aim cannot be achieved politically; it can only be accomplished militarily [Articles 9 & 21].
Warfare against Israel is legal, whereas Israel's self-defence is illegal [Article 18]. (2)

All public promises since 1989 to amend the Palestinian National Charter have led nowhere. This was confirmed in 2009 [Fatah’s 6th General Conference] by Central Committee member 'Azzam Al-Ahmad: “The movement's charter remains as it was, without any changes.” (3)

The Palestinian Authority thus still refuses to recognise the historic reality of a “Jewish State of Israel” – even the term ‘Jewish’ – in less than 20% of its ancestral homeland, thereby denying Israel’s international legitimacy for 64 years. (4)

We appeal to the Council to ask why the 1968 PLO Charter calling for the destruction of Israel and the massive exodus of 99% of its Jewish population has still not been amended by the Palestinian Authority, despite official promises to that effect for over 20 years. And we appeal to the Council to examine the 1988 genocidal Hamas Charter, since Hamas is the de-facto government in Gaza. So long as these two Palestinian Charters remain valid – and without any olive branches offered by either side – any peace negotiations, and a two state solution, will remain problematic.

Thank you, sir.'
For more background on this matter I recommend a look at this Jihad Watch article may be of interest, it gives full references for all points made.

William and Kate's big day

It looks as though Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding day is going to turn into a bit of a brawl. First I heard that the protesters in Parliament Square will not be evicted in time and so will form an interesting backdrop to the wedding procession, second I hear rumours that UK Uncut and/or their comrades are planning a large protest on the day of the Royal Wedding (April 29) and then finally I read that Islamists are threatening even worse (my emphasis):
'On 29th April 2011, what is probably one of the most anticipated events in recent years will be due to take place at Westminster Abbey; Prince William and Kate Middleton, will soon exchange matrimonial vows, in the presence of a global audience.

Unfortunately, Britain's continued interference in Muslim lands is showing no signs of abating; the plundering of resources, the murdering of innocent (Muslim) men, women and children and the forced indoctrination of the satanic democratic creed have become hallmarks of a brutal regime led by a very brutal dictator.

In the backdrop of all this, we find that one of the biggest advocates of British imperialism, Flight Lieutenant Prince William, wishes to enjoy an extravagant wedding ceremony, ironically at the expense of the tax-payer.

His direct involvement with the murderous British military and eagerness to inherit the reigns of a kingdom built on blood and colonialism clearly demonstrate what type of legacy he wishes to leave.

In light of this, sincere Muslims have decided to organise a forceful demonstration, to once again highlight that as long Britain continues in its quest to occupy Muslim land and wage war against the religion of God (Allah) that we too shall continue in our efforts to undermine their regime and condemn all of their representatives, military or otherwise.

We strongly advise Prince William and his Nazi sympathiser, to withdraw from the crusader British military and give up all affiliation to the tyrannical British Empire.

We promise that should they refuse, then the day which the nation has been dreaming of for so long will become a nightmare and that it will inshaa'allah (God willing) eclipse the protests in Barking, Downing Street and the events of November 11.'
That last sentence sounds like a threat to me so will the British police be asking their American colleagues to ask some questions or maybe arrange the extradition of the owner of that domain: 'Abdullah Muhammad, c/o Dynadot Privacy, PO Box 701, San Mateo, CA 94401, United States'?

All in all it looks as though Prince William and Kate Middleton's big day may be in jeopardy; I wonder if it is too late to change their plans and fly off to Barbados and have their wedding on the beach there?

Absolutely brilliant blogging

Not from me of course... but from Anna Raccoon who has excelled herself with three recent posts on her excellent site. The first is about who is deemed worthy of public displays of grief when they die, it's a very thought-provoking piece and one that set me nodding in agreement. I remember the aftermath of Diana, Princess of Wales's death and the wailing and emotion that spewed forth for no logical reason. Here's an extract from Anna Raccoon's piece:
'Why would the country ‘expect’ that one tragic death should be marked in this way rather than any other tragic death? Who selected Sian O’Callaghan as the poster girl of ‘tragic deaths’? Why not Joanna Yeates or any other murder victim? Did she not die ‘tragically’?

...

Another two corpses passed by unnoticed. Two corpses that were equally described as having died ‘tragically’ by the same paper. At RAF Lyneham, the bodies of Major Matthew Collins and Lance Sergeant Mark Burgan were making their way home, untroubled by ‘S’ shaped balloons, or the ‘under-12 football team’ wearing black armbands, children lighting candles, or thousands of strangers sending lanterns into the lush night sky.

Their family will mourn them, their regiment will mourn them, and their friends will mourn them.

They were, in their way, as iconic as Princess Diana, they represented all of us.

They, of course, didn’t die making their way home un-chaperoned at 3am from a ‘girl’s night out’. Their death didn’t command front page news.

‘Hundreds of people’ may line their route just ten miles away, but ‘thousands’ will not brave the cold night air to express their love for someone they did not know.

They hit a roadside bomb in Afghanistan, on patrol, on behalf of us all.

Nothing for the media to see, move along there……'
Wonderful writing from one of Britain's top bloggers.

The second piece was this piece that is beautifully written and I won't spoil it by saying any more than that.

The third piece examines what the vandals attached to Saturday's march achieved, here's an extract from a must read piece:
'Britain owes £876bn in total – all that Osborne and co are promising to do is not borrow any more than that – in four years time! In the meantime they have made no attempt to actually pay off that £876 billion, no one is even talking about it – the argument is totally about how much we should increase it by.

...

They smashed up the premises of a charitable organisation whose 450 employees relieved the rich of £56 million and returned it to its holding company which promptly redistributed £37.6m to 1518 different charities. In Milibandland this is obviously a despicable way of carrying on. If Fortnum and Mason’s have any business savvy whatsoever, they will not promptly relocate to somewhere like Monaco, where they can continue to relieve the rich of their millions and despatch their hampers by mail order without feeling any ethical need to support Britain’s helpless or disadvantaged.

They smashed up the offices of Singapore based HSBC, the one High Street Bank which neither asked for, nor needed, bailing out by the government, and which is shortly to make a decision as to whether to pull out of Britain altogether.

...

The BBC, 100% owned by the British public, was cringingly supportive of this nonsense, Newsnight produced this gem:

‘UK Uncut is a new kid on the block. They only got together after the Chancellor’s Budget cuts last year but they’ve already got quite a following. They are a social media success story and more than 1,000 of them will be out tomorrow. They think that’s more than enough to close down shops and banks.’
Right, so you close down all the banks and shops, you chase all the entrepreneurs out of your God forsaken communist haven, no more tax relief for anyone left, who is going to pay for all those helpless vulnerable poor then?'

I wish I could write like Anna Raccoon!

What is the population of the UK

As people send off their census forms, I have not yet, the question as to how many people live in the UK is more relevant than normal. So I was intrigued to read this article in The Independent from 2007, here's an extract to make you wonder how mcuh we can trust the results of the 2011 vensus and what the actual figure means for the true level of immigration:
'the population of the UK is presently somewhere between 77 and 80 million.

The 2001 census, already hopelessly out of date and easy to avoid for those who find filling in forms a trifle inelegant, numbered us at a little under 59 million. But as statistics go, that one's most definitely a damned lie.

My sources for the above statement are good, but scared of admitting the truth for fear of incurring the wrath of Whitehall. It's like the best way of monitoring illegal drug consumption: forget the pious statements from ministers – the foolproof method is to sample our water and the effluent in it. That's easily the best way of monitoring what the nation has been consuming.

Consumption – that's the thing. Based on what we eat, one big supermarket chain reckons there are 80 million people living in the UK. The demand for food is a reliable indicator; as Sir Richard Branson says, you can have all the money in the world but you can only eat onelunch and one dinner.

The supermarket in question was privately lobbying the Competition Commission to let it grow its market share. The argu- ment, reasonably enough, was that the market was far bigger than the regulator realised, so expanding the network was fair.

I have a second, respectable, source. A major, non-commercial agricultural institution reckons there are 77 million of us in the UK. Again, its reckoning is based on what we eat.

That faint background noise you're hearing as you read this is the sound of everyone slithering off the record. Why? In political terms, standing behind these figures would be to toss a hand grenade into a vat of gasoline. People would be hounded out of a job for scaremongering.

The Office for National Statistics' figures, published last week, predict a population of 75 million by 2051. It's an honest estimate but horribly wide of the mark because number counting doesn't work effectively. If you want to know how many there are of us, ask a food firm.

If the true numbers were revealed, the Little Englanders and xenophobes would come out in force about the evils of immigration. But that's what made America great in the 19th century, and it's a driving force of our economy right now. It's also anti-inflationary.

David Buik, a money manager with broker BGC Partners, was talking of "one million Eastern Europeans unaccounted for in London" on television last week. I suspect he's right if somewhat conservative in his estimate. How many do you see working in the construction industry and waiting at tables?

And when I say "anti-inflationary", I mean they are getting rotten wages. Dignified by the term "cheap labour", the hidden hordes will do well for the services sector, among others. People are assets – to maintain and to be maintained – so we are wealthier as a nation.

All of which is reflected in strong economic demand and markets see-sawing between optimism over what we all see on the streets (that 77 million figure feels right to me) and the possibility of something nasty if the Bank of England credit-crunch prognosis is correct (to echo last week, I think next spring will be unpleasant).

As for housing, property magnates and chief executives of housing associations alike say the expanding population means serious demand for the foreseeable future, credit crunch or no. Next week, I'll look at the detail of this argument.'

The BBC and that missing word (or words) again

The BBC manage to report on womens lives in Saudi Arabia and the restrictions that make it, in the words of one of the interviewees, "the biggest women's prison in the world", without mentioning why Saudi Arabia is such a living hell for women.

The report tells us that:
'the restrictions on women are scarcely believable in the 21st Century. A woman can't drive and she is not allowed to work or travel without the permission of her male guardian, father or husband.

Customs such as arranged marriages, under-age marriage and polygamy still prevail.

...

A 17-year-old girl sends in an e-mail complaining of boredom. Dina tells her to take up a hobby like painting or photography which, because an unaccompanied girl is not allowed to leave the house, she will have to do at home.

If an 18-year-old wrote in asking how to meet a member of the opposite sex, Dina says she would respond by saying, "It is not possible and [you] must accept it - it is our culture".

At the end of her shift, her boss accompanies her down on to the street and waits until her brother's car pulls up to collect her.

"You present your own radio show and yet you can't drive?" I asked. "It's normal," she said, and closed the car door.

She has to watch what she says. The radio station receives angry calls from the country's religious conservatives who are appalled that women like her are allowed to sit in the same room as an unrelated man.

Any false step or unguarded remark could see the station closed.

Reem Asaad, a 38-year-old college lecturer in finance at a Jeddah women's college, believes that women will never be allowed to drive in Saudi Arabia and that there should be a public transport system.

But would women be allowed to use it? "Probably not," she admitted, "unless chaperoned."

Women in the kingdom are not allowed to come into contact with any man who is not a family member. Even the few women who run businesses have to employ a male manager to negotiate with other men.

"It is limiting, restricting and humiliating," Ms Asaad said bitterly, "but we are used to it." '
And on and on and on the report goes but all without mentioning Islam, Muslims or Sharia Law; how odd. Well it would be odd anywhere except on the BBC for whom criticism of Jslam is just not acceptable.

The BBC's odd definition of 'cross party'

The BBC Twitter account @BBCPolitics tweeted that 'Ed Miliband shares a platform with Charles Kennedy, Baroness Williams and Green Caroline Lucas at cross party Yes'

Hmm so Labour leader shared a platform with:
1) ex-Lib Dem leader now on left of that  party
2) ex Lib Dem leader in Hose of Lords, prior to that founder of SDP and prior to that Labour MP
3) Green MP with views well to the left of mainstream politics

To the BBC that may seem 'cross party' but to me it looks more 'left of centre'. Nobody from the Conservative party, the largest party in this House of Commons. Nobody from UKIP who mostly support the Yes2AV campaign and who are gaining ground at elections to vie with LibDems for fourth place?

No to the BBC the concensus of British politics is centre left so the above four people are a cross section.

Is the global warming propaganda not working?

I think this graphic speaks for itself, but for more detail take a read of Watts Up With That.

It looks as though the public are seeing through the Man Made climate Change propaganda. Take a read of this recent post of mine for another example, this time from the UK.

The bravest man alive?

Hideaki Akaiwa may be the bravest man alive; for the story of how he dived into the tsunami waters to rescue his wife, then his mother and then others take a read of this bad ass of the week article, there is a language warning but the story is uplifting.

Hideaki Akaiwa I salute you.

"Should Muslims adapt to Britain or should Britain adapt to Muslims?"

Raheen Kassam asks "Should Muslims adapt to Britain or should Britain adapt to Muslims?" on Channel 4's 4Thought TV and speaks a lot of sense. Well done Channel 4.

Unfortunately Moazzam Begg spoils it by comparing modern Muslims to 1930's Jews. That is not a fair comparison and he should know it. Watch it here if you must. Not clever Channel 4.

A sensible article about radiation on the BBC news website

I am in shock there is a sensible article about radiation on the BBC news website. Admittedly it is just a Viewpoint article and it does not get many links to it but it is there. The views expressed by Wade Allison are sensible, rational and well argued but the BBC will still give more time on phone-ins to people with no scientific knowledge who just know that anything nuclear is bad.

The whole article is a definite must read and I will be printing out copies for all the nuclear-phobes that I meet on a daily basis. Here are a few extracts:
'Chernobyl? The latest UN report published on 28 February confirms the known death toll - 28 fatalities among emergency workers, plus 15 fatal cases of child thyroid cancer - which would have been avoided if iodine tablets had been taken (as they have now in Japan). And in each case the numbers are minute compared with the 3,800 at Bhopal in 1984, who died as a result of a leak of chemicals from the Union Carbide pesticide plant.

...

A map of Chernobyl in the UN report shows regions shaded according to rate, up to 3,700 kBq per sq m - areas with less than 37 kBq per sq m are not shaded at all. In round terms, this suggests that the radioactive fallout at Fukushima is less than 1% of that at Chernobyl.

The other important radioisotope in fallout is iodine, which can cause child thyroid cancer.

This is only produced when the reactor is on and quickly decays once the reactor shuts down (it has a half life of eight days). The old fuel rods in storage at Fukushima, though radioactive, contain no iodine.

But at Chernobyl the full inventory of iodine and caesium was released in the initial explosion, so that at Fukushima any release of iodine should be much less than 1% of that at Chernobyl - with an effect reduced still further by iodine tablets.

Unfortunately, public authorities react by providing over-cautious guidance - and this simply escalates public concern.

...

To cope with the friendly fire of such nuclear propaganda on the home front, ever tighter radiation regulations were enacted in order to keep all contact with radiation As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA), as the principle became known.

This attempt at reassurance is the basis of international radiation safety regulations today, which suggest an upper limit for the general public of 1 mSv per year above natural levels.

This very low figure is not a danger level, rather it's a small addition to the levels found in nature - a British person is exposed to 2.7 mSv per year, on average. My book Radiation and Reason argues that a responsible danger level based on current science would be 100 mSv per month, with a lifelong limit of 5,000 mSv, not 1 mSv per year.

...

Some might ask whether I would accept it if it were buried 100 metres under my own house? My answer would be: "Yes, why not?" More generally, we should stop running away from radiation. '
And who is Wade Allison?
'Wade Allison is a nuclear and medical physicist at the University of Oxford, the author of Radiation and Reason (2009) and Fundamental Physics for Probing and Imaging (2006).'

A sign of the times in the USA?

Engadget reports that:
'The Athlon-powered M5030 from Dell... is being released with its keyboard and Windows 7 installation customized in Spanish, neither of which would be unusual were it not for the fact that it's going to be on sale in the US. It's not exactly a vast overhaul, as only a couple of physical keys are swapped out and switching Win 7 into and out of Spanish mode can be done in the time it takes to click a mouse, but still, it's significant in that it services the speakers of the States' second most commonly used language...'
Interesting?

Full complaint:
Your article about an Israeli air strike was as biased as I would expect from the BBC and I would not normally have bothered even taking the time to complain but then you decided to include this passage: 'In the past week at least 10 Palestinians, including several civilians and children, have been killed by Israeli attacks. In the same period, militants in Gaza have fired more than 80 rockets and mortar shells into southern Israel.' No mention of the five members, including three children, of the Fogel family who were stabbed and slashed to death whilst they slept. No mention of the British woman Mary Jean Gardner who was blown up by a terrorist bomb in Jerusalem. Do the deaths of Israelis not count to the BBC? Does the life of a British woman killed abroad not concern the BRITISH Broadcasting Corporation?

I wonder how the BBC will justify their decision to ignore the deaths of the Fogel family and Mary Jean Gardner.

The Fogel family erased from history

The BBC report that 'An Israeli air strike has killed two militants in the northern Gaza Strip, Israeli and Palestinian officials say.' and to give background explain two things. First that 'The air strike comes a day after militant groups in Hamas-run Gaza said they would halt rocket attacks on Israel if the Israelis reciprocated.' For the BBC it is always Hamas that is the reasonable party and the Israelis the intransigent ones; this is of course almost 100% the opposite of the truth. The second comment was this:
'Sunday's air strike is a blow to those calling for calm after the recent escalation in violence, the BBC's Jon Donnison in Gaza reports.
In the past week at least 10 Palestinians, including several civilians and children, have been killed by Israeli attacks.

In the same period, militants in Gaza have fired more than 80 rockets and mortar shells into southern Israel.'
What about the Fogel family and indeed Mary Jean Gardner? Do the deaths of Jews and Christians in Israel not count?

This being the BBC there is the near compulsory end note to ensure that you know where your sympathies should lie:
'...Israel's military power is vastly superior to the Palestinian militants, and if there were another major conflict - similar to Israel's major offensive more than two years ago - Gaza would again come off worse.
More than 1,300 Palestinians died in the war two years ago. Thirteen Israelis were killed.'
What percentage of the Israelis were civilians? What percentage of the Palestinians were civilians? What percentage of the Palestinian civilians were killed because Palestinian terrorists/fighters were using them as cover?

How many people were really on Saturday's march?

The initial claims were for 250,000 later claims were for 500,000. Conservative Home think it was nowhere near that many, probably around 150,000.

Who do I believe? Well for as long as I can remember protest march organisers have made inflated claims that the BBC have willingly accepted and sometimes inflated. When faced with a choice between unsubstantiated claims and some empirical evidence, I tend to plump for the latter; so that's around 150,000 then!

Facts v Scaremongering

CNN's Nancy Grace goes to war with Bernie Rayno, an Accuweather meteorologist as to whether radiation leaked at Fukushima is an imminent mortal threat to people in the continental United States.

Maybe we should see this as encouraging news!

I know I am usually a 'glass half empty' blogger but this morning's news as reported by Biased-BBC that 49% of schoolchildren rate climate change as the second biggest threat facing humanity leaves me quite heartened. If after being exposed to years and years of incessant pro-climate change propaganda from their schools and media only 49% have fallen for the lie then maybe there is hope.

The left do not care?

The case for invading Libya compared with Iraq? The portryal of that type of Obama supporter is very accurate.

Three surprising things you probably didn't know about Islam.

A fascinating and well put together video that covers some of what I know and some that I did not. The charity example quoted near the end I have not verified.

'A group calling themselves "White Roses" created this video to inform non-Muslims about Islam. The name of this video is "Three Things About Islam."

White Roses is headquartered in Sweden. The name "White Roses" is based on a student resistance group "Die weiße Rose" in Nazi Germany. The group became known for an anonymous leaflet campaign, from June 1942 until February 1943, which called for active opposition to Adolf Hitler's regime.'

Who are the modern day 'enemy within'?

The Telegraph have some names and history for you.

Did the 'Distinguished global leader in residence' aka Gordon Brown get upgraded causing others to lose their paid for seats?

The Mail report a rather odd story:
'Gordon Brown sparked a mutiny on a British Airways flight after he was blamed for an attempt to downgrade a heavily pregnant woman and Red Cross doctor into more cramped seats.

The extraordinary scenes - dubbed Mutiny On The Brown-ty - unfolded on a flight from Abu Dhabi to London, when passengers lost their seats before the former Prime Minister's six-strong entourage got on board.

It prompted an angry war of words with an 'aggressive' Brown aide, and led to a formal complaint to BA and an offer of compensation described as 'derisory' by those involved.'
Read the story and the denials from Gordon Brown and British Airways and decide who you believe. For my part I doubt practically everything Britain's worst ever Prime Minister and main reason (along with Ed Balls) for the UK's dire economic position.

Sunday morning catchup

1) Creeping Sharia report that it was not just the UK's last Labour government that rolled over backwards for the Gaddafi Libyan regime.
'A son of Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi toured U.S. ports and military facilities just weeks before he helped lead deadly attacks on rebels protesting his father’s authoritarian regime.
Khamis Gadhafi, 27, spent four weeks in the U.S. as part of an internship with AECOM, a global infrastructure company with deep business interests in Libya, according to Paul Gennaro, AECOM’s Senior Vice President for Global Communications. The trip was to include visits to the Port of Houston, Air Force Academy, National War College and West Point, Gennaro said.
The West Point visit was canceled on Feb. 17, when the trip was cut short and Gadhafi returned to Libya, Gennaro said. The uprising there began with a series of protests on Feb. 15.'

2) Haaretz reports that Argentina has no more backbone to stand up to terrorist controlling countries than the UK under the last Labour governmnet:
'In secret negotiations with Iran, Argentina has offered to “forget” the bombings of the Israeli embassy and the Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, in 1992 and 1994, respectively, in exchange for improved relations between the two countries.
According to the Argentine weekly Perfil, which broke the story yesterday, Foreign Minister Hector Timerman is personally involved in the talks. The Argentinean Foreign Ministry has so far declined comment.
For his report, the veteran investigative reporter Pepe Eliaschev relied on a classified document that indicated the Argentinean government “would be ready to freeze the investigations of terrorist bombings attributed to Iran in 1992 and 1994, in exchange for renewing and improving trade relations between the countries, which at their height reached $ 1.2 billion a year.”
According to the article, Timerman made the offer via Syrian President Bashar Asad and Foreign Minister, Walid Moallem, who were brought in as mediators.
The three met in Syria on January 23, and the details of the conversation were conveyed to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.'

3) Archbihop Cranmer thinks that Ed Miliband's speech testerday in which he said "I am Nelson Mandela; I am Emmeline Pankhurst; I am Martin Luther King!" 'has echoes of his predecessor windbag, Neil Kinnock. Except that Ed Miliband is smaller and shriller in every sense.'

4) Big Peace report that:
'Patrick Åserud has had enough of pressure about salami-free food, blond-hate and horrible language skills.

“I will not let my children grow up here. I do not dare to.”

...

“It has become difficult to be an ethnic Norwegian in Groruddalen. There are huge language problems, and additionally a pressure that we [Norwegians] must adjust to norms that feel completely foreign to us, who have a Western lifestyle and mindset.

“There are kindergartens where almost no children or parents speak Norwegian, and there are schools where children are threatened with beatings if they bring salami with them for their school lunch.

“Girls are bullied for being blond, and they colour their hair dark to avoid it and fit in. It is especially not okay to be gay at the school, nor atheist, and especially not Jewish.'
Isn't multculturism grand.

5) JPost reports on the absolute hell that is life in the palesinian West Bank:
'Palestinian new car sales numbers reflect growing prosperity and are one of the best measures to see how the economy is faring.

RAMALLAH -- On a blustery, winter day in Ramallah, new car sales are hot.

“You can see the numbers are escalating tremendously,” says Samech Masri, a Detroit-educated civil engineer and general manager of the United Motor Trade Co., the largest car dealership in Ramallah. “It’s gone from about 1,000 cars to 20,000 cars within about 10 years and that is something to talk about.”

Not nearly as high as the record 216,000 vehicles sold in nearby Israel last year, still, the Palestinian new car sales numbers reflect growing prosperity and are one of the best measures to see how the economy is faring.

Set among swank coffee shops and designer boutiques, Masri’s upscale automobile dealership is the sole importer of Volkswagen, Audi and Skoda vehicles. He accounts for a quarter of all car sales in the West Bank and counts among his clients Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad.

While peace efforts between the Palestinians and Israelis may be stalled, Fayyad has been pushing ahead with plans to declare a Palestinian state by September. He believes a prospering economy is the best way to wean the Palestinian Authority off international aid, but, as an professional economist and former senior official at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Fayyad sees a free market system as the best way to achieve this goal.'
I presume the BBC will be reporting this good news story about life in the Palestinian territories or does it not meet their narrative?

The surprising world of 'parody porn'

"How's it going Mr Peterson?

Going down like a $2 whore when you hand her a 50.."
From  XXX Parody of Cheers ; there is a whole world of 'parody porn'out there, many on that probably NSFW website. Parodies include TV programmes such as X-Files, Scrubs, Seinfeld, Friends and 30 Rock and I hear that there is a Star Trek (The New Generation) on the way too.

For some great parody titles Pop Crunch has 25 of 'the best' - I particularly like 'Missionary Position Impossible 2', 'Raiders of the Lost Arse', 'Edward Penishands' - 'Take Tim Burton’s tortured modern Frankenstein and then replace his arms with a pair of gigantic meat truncheons. Porntastic! He won’t be trimming your hedges but he’s essentially perfect for porn. And if you think like the makers of Penishands did, you’ll probably find that hilarious. Spawning a sequel, we can only imagine that this one did better than the Johhny Depp original' and of course 'Womb Raider'.

What's newsworthy and what is not

Yesterday the London's prime, if low-rate, shopping street was closed by a march but this was one that the BBC did not cover. The cause was 'Sharia Law for Libya' and everywhere else.

In fact I only found about it thanks to Archbishop Cranmer and the Africa Press.

The one hundred and twenty third weekly "No shit Sherlock" award

This week's winner is Israel's Vice Prime Minister, Moshe Yaalon, for the astounding revelation that the Israeli government believes that "behind the scenes, Iran is involved" in the increase in rocket attacks against Israel and has given its terrorist proxies, like Hamas, the green light to intensify attacks against Israel.

Here's the video...

"No shit, Sherlock"

Although the BBC still haven't managed to put two and two together to make four on this issue.

Weird story of the week

The Sun report that:
'WACKY Bob and Lizzie Gibbins share their bungalow with a world-beating collection - of 240 love dolls.

The couple choose and name the "girls" together and go shopping once a month for new outfits, wigs and make-up, costing £100,000 so far.

...

Dad-of-two Bob, 60 - who takes a favourite, Patsy, for drives - said: "A lot of love doll owners use them for sex but I've never been interested in them in that way."

...

Lizzie, 55, added: "It is a hobby Bob and I share together. We just enjoy dressing them up."'
Here's the video...

There are plenty of photos on the Sun website....

Does Denis MacShane really not understand the difference between deficit and debt ?

That is a very poor analogy Denis. The deficit is not the mortgage, debt is the mortgage.

Thus if the UK only reduces the deficit over 4 or 5 or 6 years the amount of the debt/mortgage is increasing as are the interest payments payable to service that debt/mortgage. If the amount of the debt/mortgage increases too much and interest rates rise (a predictable result of Labour's Quantitative Easing policy) then ceteris paribus the annual deficit increases and thus the mortgage/debt. At some point the money markets lose confidence that the UK can service its debt, reduce its credit rating and thus make it harder to borrow more money (for if there is still a deficit we are still borrowing money and increasing the debt/mortgage). Now the UK is in a downward spiral of an increasing deficit and rising debt/mortgage and reducing confidence in the country - that way Sovereign debt default and penury lies.

Labour's plan to cut the deficit in half over four years was not an adequate solution, it only reduces the amount by which the country's debt is being increased year after year. Do you not understand that Denis?

Tasteful?

Crown Jewels Condoms ask us to 'Lie back and think of England' as they announce that:
'To celebrate the engagement of Prince William of Wales to Ms. Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, Crown Jewels Condoms of Distinction has commissioned a unique heritage edition Royal Wedding Souvenir boîte de capotes.

Combining the strength of a Prince with the yielding sensitivity of a Princess-to-be, Crown Jewels condoms promise a royal union of pleasure. Truly a King amongst Condoms.

* Presented in a timeless souvenir heirloom collector's box.
* Contains three individually wrapped condoms.
* Includes a collectable portrait of the Royal Couple as they might appear on their wedding day – exclusively created for Crown Jewels.'
Tasteful, very tasteful. And then the pretty unnecessary disclaimer:
'Crown Jewels Royal Wedding Souvenir Condoms are not supplied to, or approved by, Prince William of Wales, Catherine Middleton or any member of the Royal Family.'
I am shocked!  And not just by the misspelling of collectible...

Also bear in mind that:
'Crown Jewels Royal Wedding Souvenir Condoms are a novelty condom not suitable for contraception or protection against STDs.'
pardon my ignorance but other than preventing pregnancy or avoiding STDs why would you wear a condom? Patriotism excepted!

Unzipping Keira Knightley

Keira Knightley in the latest Chanel Coco Mademoiselle advert.

Another Rule 5 posting...

The "tyranny of the minority."

American Power writes a fantastic piece about the Democrat state walkouts in several US States. Do read the whole piece but what I found interesting is how what he and others in the US perceive as the Democratic party's belief that as a political party they are entitled to power so fits in with how many on the left in UK feel.

As I have said before when Labour wins a general election Conservatives are meant to accept the result with good grace and live with whatever decisions are made. However when Conservatives win a general election (even if in a coalition) Labour supporters and those further to the left feel entitled to rant and rave and protest at every decision taken.

Odd isn't it?

Thinking about this reminds me of something else that I have blogged about before. A Labour supporter feels able at any Conservative dominated social occasion to lecture Conservatives about the correct views to hold without fear of insult or attack but a Conservative at a Labour dominated social occasion knows to keep very very quiet lest he engender at best silence and at worse having to leave.

Wiping Israel off the map

Wiping Israel off the map was formerly the aim of Iran's President Ahmadinejad but it seems that Egypt Air has got there first. The Telegraph report the story thus:
'Israel has quietly dropped off Egypt Air’s route map this week.
The airline’s explanation is that “flights to Tel Aviv are operated by Air Sinai, which is a separate company.” It explains that “our website exclusively show destinations to which our own EA flights travel to.”
I’ve been unable to find a phone number, website or postal address for Air Sinai. That’s because it doesn’t seem to exist.  Wikipedia states it “ceased airline operations in its own right in 2002 and operates as a ‘paper airline’ for its parent company, Egypt Air.”
Like a fair few other people, I suspect, I’m wondering if this is a sign of things to come in the Egypt-Israel relationship, because of the growing influence of people who would like to see Israel erased from maps, not just route maps.'

The trouble with that explanation is that Egypt Air's route map purports to include 'code shares'.
Maps of the World  says this about Air Sinai:
'In order to run scheduled flights between Egypt and Israel, EgyptAir launched its subsidiary, Air Sinai, in the year 1982. This route was previously served by the Nefetiti Aviation. Presently Air Sinai, operating under EgyptAir, also runs a number of charter flights to various destinations. Air Sinai also runs wet lease services for other airlines.

The central hub of Air Sinai is Cairo in Egypt from which it operates Flights to Tel Aviv in Israel. Therefore, the only destination of Air Sinai, besides Cairo, is Tel Aviv. The airline runs three weekly flights from Cairo to Tel Aviv. Air Sinai also runs a number of charter flights between Egypt and Israel.

The fleet of Air Sinai consists of only one aircraft namely Boeing 737-500. This sole airplane of Air Sinai has served the airline for years without a mark on its body.

The airline offers several in-flight services and facilities. The services of Air Sinai include complementary food and drinks, various articles for in-flight shopping, newspapers, magazines and special facilities for old people and for the sick.

Contact: (Main Office)
Address:
Nile Hilton,
Cairo,
Egypt'
It looks as though Egypt Air was ashamed of its flying to Israel even before the recent revolt; I wonder why?

It should be remembered that Israel captured the whole of the Sinai during the 1967 war and gave it all back to Egypt in return for peace. The Sinai being larger in area than Israel and containing oil fields.
