The Labour government have not built enough prisons to house our rising prison population, rising because crime is rising. So what should they do? Their answer, to build small bail hostels for up to four people each to house criminals released from prison early. Less than four people so they can avoid planning controls and so they can try and justify not having any on-site supervision. So what we have here is prisoners being released from prison early to live in paid for accommodation with no supervision in a house near you... but presumably not near Gordon Brown or Jack Straw, the current and the next Labour party leader.
