Sunday's papers had details of new technology to be fitted to cars that would report back to councils about pot-holes and congestion whilst receiving information about traffic jams etc. This is a front, the real purpose of such devices will be to track the movements of all cars at all times and of course to measure vehicle speeds and so issues fines.
