In August 2005, the State of Israel forcefully evacuated 9,000 Jews from
the Gush Katif "Harvest Belt" of Gaza and from northern Samaria. Orange
was the color of the protest. While billed as an act of peace, the
operation has caused untold devastation to both Jews and Arabs alike.
Ultimately, it was a strategic retreat, an act of appeasement of
Palestinian terror and an act of aggression against innocent Jews. The
story of the Jewish victims of this tragedy has gone largely untold,
until now, in this parody of the Miley Cyrus mega-hit "Wrecking Ball."

Appeasing the terrorists didn't work in 2005 and won't work now.
Rachel Corrie is not the only dead Rachel, do the 'peace activists' care about these eight other dead Rachels?
I prepared this post last night to post when busy at work but have just seen that Fraser Nelson has written about the forgotten Rachels. A very moving article that compares the cult of Rachel 'peace campaigner' Corrie with the forgotten Rachels. Here are some extracts, first about the forgotten Rachels and then about Rachel Corrie (my comments in italics):
'Rachel Thaler, aged 16, was blown up at a pizzeria in an Israeli shopping mall. She died after an 11-day struggle for life following a suicide bomb attack on a crowd of teenagers on 16 February 2002. Even though Thaler was a British citizen, born in London, where her grandparents still live, her death has never been mentioned in a British newspaper. (Why did the British media not report on the murder of this British citizen by terrorists, is it because she was in Israel and 'asking for it'?)

Thaler is by no means the only Jewish Rachel whose violent death has been entirely ignored by the British media. Other victims of the Intifada include Rachel Levy (aged 17, blown up in a grocery store), Rachel Levi (19, shot while waiting for the bus), Rachel Gavish (killed with her husband, son and father while at home celebrating a Passover meal), Rachel Charhi (blown up while sitting in a Tel Aviv cafe, leaving three young children), Rachel Shabo (murdered with her three sons aged 5, 13 and 16 while at home), Rachel Ben Abu (16, blown up outside the entrance of a Netanya shopping mall) and Rachel Kol, 53, who worked at a Jerusalem hospital and was killed with her husband in a Palestinian terrorist attack in July a few days after the London bombs. '
'Unfortunately for those who have sought to portray Corrie as a peaceful protester, photos of her burning a mock American flag and stirring up crowds in Gaza at a pro-Hamas rally were published by the Associated Press and on Yahoo News on 15 February 2003, a month before she died. (Those photos were not used in the British press.)

The International Solidarity Movement (ISM), the group with which Corrie was affiliated, is routinely described as a “peace group” in the media. Few make any mention of the ISM’s meeting with the British suicide bombers Omar Khan Sharif and Asif Muhammad Hanif who, a few days later, blew up Mike’s Place, a Tel Aviv pub, killing three and injuring dozens, including British citizens. Or of the ISM’s sheltering in its office of Shadi Sukiya, a leading member of Islamic Jihad. Or of the fact that in its mission statement the ISM said “armed struggle” is a Palestinian “right”.
According to the “media co-ordinator” of the ISM, Flo Rosovski, “‘Israel’ is an illegal entity that should not exist” – which at any rate clarifies the ISM’s idea of peace.'
The Jewish/Israeli Rachels deaths were not 'missed' by the world's media, they were deliberately ignored. The world is rushing headlong past delegitimising Israel and on towards justifying its destruction. The Jewish state will be sacrificed to radical Islam in the hope that that will satiate their demands; it won't and who or what will be next?
Appeasement does not work as Europe found out in 1939 and being willing to sacrifice others to buy your own peace does not work either: 'First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist. Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for me and there was no one left to speak out for me.
Two articles from this weekend's news show the extent of the dhimmitude of the UK government of whatever colour.
The first is from The Telegraph and concerns the fact that:
'Senior civil servants warned ministers that if they ordered a public inquiry into the July 7 suicide bombings it could "focus negatively" on Britain's Muslim community, it can be revealed.
The warning was delivered in a briefing paper to Charles Clarke, the then-home secretary, as he considered whether or not to launch an inquiry into the 2005 bombings, in which 52 innocent people were killed.
In the paper, Sir John Gieve, the Home Office permanent secretary, said that upsetting Muslims would be a "potential cost" of ministers agreeing to demands for a full inquiry.
After receiving Sir John's paper, Mr Clarke decided not to order a public inquiry – a decision which infuriated many survivors and relatives of those killed.
One survivor said last night that she was "outraged" by the revelation.

As an alternative to a public inquiry the Home Office published, a year after the bombings, a "narrative" drafted by its own officials which merely set out the events leading up to the bombings, with little analysis of underlying causes.
Sir John's note, written four months after the bombings but newly-released under Freedom of Information laws, outlines the determination of senior civil servants to ensure that any inquiries into the atrocity were "low key".
It warned of "potential community tension in the event that any inquiry came to be perceived as an exercise in special pleading by one community, or alternatively if it was believed that it focused negatively on the Muslim community". '
That was the attitude of the last Labour government, be nice to the 'Muslim community' and they might not kill us. Many moderate Muslims are as outraged by this as I am.
Douglas Murray in The Telegraph reveals that this Conservative/LibDem government is just as timid and obsequious around the 'Muslim community':
'I have just been forwarded an email from the UK government which suggests that the new administration does not merely feel blackmailed by Islamists but is also actively trying to placate them.....'

The UK government, no doubt advised by its community advisors, has decided that the best way to avoid further bloodshed along the lines of 7/7 is to try and appease Muslim extremists as much as possible. The fact that this wont work as the hardline jihadis just want us dead, seems to have escaped them. In a months time the public will be reminded of the events of 7/7 and for a while they will think and remember. I think about those that died and those that were maimed by home-grown terrorists almost every day and it hurts, it really hurts that the UK government seems to think that appeasement is the answer.
I am not a happy NotaSheep this morning. The news that our Labour government wants to talk to "moderate" elements of the Tailban is not surprising but Douglas Alexander's comments this morning left me very angry. Apparently this tactic worked in Northern Ireland. If by worked he meant that we released a lot of convicted murderous terrorists, gave areas of our cities over to gang rule and allowed terrorists and their supporters to be elected into public office, then this tactic worked. I prefer to think of it as appeasement.
I presume that if people like Douglas Alexander had been in government in the early 1940s they would have been pushing for talks with "moderate" members of the Nazi government and making pathetic comments about the feelings of the relatives of the war dead.
Just when I think that this vile Labour government could not get any worse, it manages it.

Kissinger no doubt little expected at the time that this would become the democratic world's favoured strategy. No surprise that the main villain for the politically correct West is Israel, the lamb that refuses the honour."
It is "better to jaw-jaw than to war-war" so say the appeasers, quoting Winston Churchill's words from 1954. Everyone is capable of reforming many of the same people say about some vile person who is to be released from prison.
That's an item from the New York Times of 21 December 1924 marking the release on parole from prison in Germany of Adolph Hitler. Adolph Hitler had been imprisoned in April of that year for 5 years for conspiring to overthrow the Weimar government. He was released as part of a general amnesty. The paper reports how :
"His behaviour during imprisonment convinced the authorities that, like his political organization... was no longer to be feared."
The article ends with one of the most inaccurate predictions ever :
"It is believed he will retire to private life and return to Austria, the country of his birth."
I wonder if people really expect the leaders of Hamas, Hizballah, Fatah, Iran, Syria, al-Qaeda etc. etc. etc. to be tamed by our appeasement and so to abandon public life and go back to their homes and live in peace.
