"Rocky Horror Show - Once in a While"

Rocky Horror Show -  "Once in a While"

The one song from the stage musical that was cut from the film.

This is the scene cut from the film, I'd never seen that scene until today... I love YouTube!

Skyfall question

I'm just watching Skyfall again and that bit where Javier Bardem comes down in that lift rang a bell.

Does anyone else think it's reminiscent of Frankenfurter's entrance in the Rocky Horror Picture Show?

Tim Curry

I hear today that Tim Curry has had a major stroke. I wish him a full recovery.

Here's Tim at his finest...

'Sweet Transvestite' from The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

What is going on in British schools?

Yesterday's Telegraph informed us about the Queen's visit to Dersingham Infant and Nursery School on the 60th anniversary of her accession to the throne. It would have been just another article had it not been for this passage about the entertainment laid on by this a class of three and four year old children:
'... she had a tour of the classrooms and watched a 15-minute play about the changes that the country has seen during her 60-year reign.

She beamed throughout the performance as all 130 pupils performed the Time Warp, complete with dance moves, from the Rocky Horror Show.'
I love the Rocky Horror Show and enjoy doing the Time Warp myself but wonder if a song that enjoins people that "it's the pelvic thrust that really drives me insaaaaane" is really appropriate for children as young as three.

A very odd speech in the Australian Parliament - including a bit of The Time Warp

The Liberal Party's 'Senator Mary Jo Fisher does an unusual speech in the Australian Parliament, She does the Hokey Pokey and the Time Warp and talks about Julia Gillards new carbon tax in one session, good on ya senator Mary Jo Fisher!'

I can't imagine this being allowed in the House of Commons and since the retirement  of Michael Portillo I am not sure who would best play Dr Frank-N-Furter...

Thanks to Guido Fawkes for the spot.

The sexiest scene in any movie?

Salma Hayek's Vampire Dance from 'From Dusk to Dawn'

Any other suggestions? Apart from Rocky Horror related which has at least three...

The Dresden Dolls - "Science fiction (double feature)"

A duo who really get The Rocky Horror (Picture) Show.

A new chanteuse - Amanda Palmer (part 2)

Amanda Palmer and The Danger Ensemble perform Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl". Something tells me that Amanda Palmer may have seen The Rocky Horror Show/The Rocky Horror Picture Show a couple of times or more - the 'behind the sheet' trick!

More Amanda Palmer at her site.

NotaSheep is Frank N. Furter

I have just discovered why Frank N. Furter has the number 4711 on his thigh, it is a reference to the same brand of cologne that I use; a brand that was apparently "very popular with Gays in the 70's".

Well there you go.

Rocky Horror Picture Show opening titles

Here are two alternative opening title sequences for the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Allegedly this one is
"The original idea by Richard O'Brien for "Science Fiction/Double Feature" for The Rocky Horror Picture Show. The test audience reaction was negative and it was changed to feature the lips of Patricia Quinn lip-syncing to the song."
I am just about to start reading "Rocky Horror - From concept to cult", maybe the answer as to whether this claim is true will be in there.

This is a tribute to the album artwork.
"The Rocky Horror Picture Show vinyl LP sleeve on the Ode album has always been a favorite of mine. It was designed by John Pasche of Gull Graphics and has a very different style from other Rocky Horror merchandise. Before I was old enough to see the film during its midnight circuit, I would listen to the soundtrack and examine the sleeve artwork and wonder what it was like to see the movie. This is a tribute to the Ode record. "

Rocky Horror Picture Show v Priscilla Queen of the Desert

Courtesy of the Drew Carey Show. I think you know on which side of the debate you would find me; I would wear my basque with pride albeit with a degree of discomfort theses days...

A female Rocky Horror!

A female Rocky Horror! Did anyone read the lyrics?
"A weakling, weighing ninety-eight pounds
Will get sand in his face when kicked...to the ground
And soon in the gym, with a determined chin
The sweat from his pores, as he works for his cause
Will make him glisten...and gleam
And with massage...and just a little bit of steam
He'll be pink and quite clean
He'll be a strong man, oh honey...
But the wrong man
He'll eat nutritious high protein and swallow raw eggs
Try to build up his shoulders, his chest, arm, and legs
Such an effort...if he only knew of my plan
In just seven days, I can make you a man
He'll do press-ups and chin-ups
Do the snatch, clean and jerk
He thinks dynamic tension
Must be hard work...
Such strenuous living
I just don't understand...
When in just seven days, oh baby, I can make you a man!"

Well I never knew that - Rocky Horror & Monty Python related

Patricia Quinn, Magenta in The Rocky Horror Picture Show is the same actress as John Cleese's wife in the sex education scene in The Meaning of Life.

Well I never knew that...

For all the Rocky Horror Fans out there here's a couple of clips:

Part of "Sweet Transvestite"
