Has Sadiq Khan thought this through?

LBC report that

'Sadiq Khan Backs Amnesty On Grenfell Tower Illegal Immigrants

The Mayor of London has called on the government to ensure any illegal immigrants who lived in Grenfell Tower to be protected.'

Apparently:

'Sadiq Khan has told LBC that he is backing a complete amnesty. He said: "No action must be taken against anybody in Grenfell Tower who comes forward.

"There may be some people who are sub-letting, breaching their tenancy agreement.

"There may be people who have got friends and family visiting, who they are worried about if they report them because they haven't got immigration status.

"All of those people should feel confident that if they come forward and speak to the authorities, that no action will be taken."'

Leaving aside the questionable sense in giving people an amnesty on immigration matters because they were illegally occupying a building that burnt down, is this not an invitation for other illegal immigrants to claim that they were living in Grenfell Tower at the time of the fire and so should get citizenship and a new flat?

Well it's only money after all...

The EU Referendum - an interesting point

All day I have been hearing the BBC call the referendum split as whilst England and Wales voted for Leave, Scotland and Northern Ireland voted for Remain. The BBC have also been explaining how London also voted Remain and Nicola Sturgeon said that she would ally with Sadiq Khan in negotiations.

I looked at the BBC's own results front page which splits the vote by UK constituent country and saw this...

Do you note that whilst the BBC's analysis is correct there is something else of note here. The two nations that voted Leave had a higher turnout than the two nations that voted Remain. That's the sort of inconvenient fact that the BBC won't be highlighting. What they are highlighting is that:

'A petition calling for Sadiq Khan to declare London an independent state after the UK voted to quit the EU has been signed by thousands of people.

The petition's organiser James O'Malley, said the capital was "a world city" which should "remain at the heart of Europe".

Nearly 60% of people in the capital backed the Remain campaign, in stark contrast to most of the country.'

If Remain had won, imagine the BBC reaction to some areas calling for independence for themselves. Laughter, derision, pointing out what democracy means and so on. But as it's a view that the BBC agree with...

Logic fail of the day

I'll repeat that:
'... "Uncle Tom" is as needlessly abusive as "self hating Jew" don't use this terms. Vote @SadiqKhan'

So Meirion Jones thinks that using the term "Uncle Tom" is "needlessly abusive" but that we should vote for the man who used that term... That seems logical, well for a Labour supporter I suppose it may be.

BBC Newsnight's political editor Nick Watt says Mr Khan plans to keep Mr Corbyn away from his victory celebrations should he prevail and the two men would not be seen together for several days.'

Several days, that'll show people that Sadiq Khan and the man he nominated for Labour Party leader are really far apart...

Note nothing about the 'uncle Toms' comment by Sadiq Khan. The BBC just have to keep that quiet for one more day...

Sadiq Khan shared platform with five Islamic extremists per London Evening Standard

It doesn't matter how much the BBC cover-up for Sadiq Khan, the truth keeps creeping out. Of course by running cover for Sadiq Khan the BBC are doing their best to ensure that he is elected London Mayor in two weeks time. 

Here's something that the pro Labour Party BBC won't be reporting...

'Labour's candidate for Mayor of London took part with an activist who has threatened "fire throughout the world", a supporter of terror group Hamas, a preacher who backs an Islamic state and a Muslim leader accused of advocating attacks on the Royal Navy if it stopped arms being smuggled into Gaza.

Also on the platform was a controversial Surrey vicar and conspiracy theorist who has claimed Israel could have been responsible for the terrorist attack on New York's Twin Towers.

Mr Khan was billed on the list of speakers as Labour's parliamentary candidate for Tooting, despite his insistence that he attended "as a human rights lawyer".'

An unbiased national news broadcaster would cover stories like this but the BBC isn't unbiased.

The BBC have played a clever game with their coverage of this London mayoral election. They've not given it as much prominence as they have to previous contests. This has enabled them to minimise the amount of reporting of criticism of their preferred candidate Sadiq Khan.

The BBC are minimising coverage of the London mayoral election thus hoping their favoured candidate, the Labour Party one  gets elected.

Labour's Sadiq Khan savages Jeremy Corbyn over anti-Semitism per Daily Mail Online

'Khan also backed claims that Corbyn's links with Palestinian terror groups could fuel anti-Semitism in the UK.

Asked to comment on Corbyn's Hamas and Hezbollah connections, he said Labour had to ditch its 'anti-Jewish' image, which was not acceptable' in Britain.

Khan said there was a direct link between Middle East tension and anti-Semitic attacks in London, saying synagogues and Jewish schools in London needed 24-hour guards as a result.'

Sadiq Khan - a question

The BBC are quite ecstatic that Sadiq Khan has been elected to Ed Miliband's Shadow Cabinet, their pen portrait of him runs thus:

'One of the most high profile Muslim MPs, Sadiq Khan was an early backer of Ed Miliband to be Labour leader and went on to run his campaign. Before becoming an MP for Tooting, in South London, in 2005 he was a leading human rights solicitor and chairman of pressure group Liberty. He is a former government whip, local government minister and transport minister, who was promoted to shadow transport secretary when Lord Adonis stood down after the 2010 general election. Leading light in Labour think tanks The Fabian Society and Progress. A supporter of Liverpool FC and Surrey County Cricket club, Mr Khan also turns out for the Parliamentary football team.'

Now almost every article I have ever read about Sadiq Khan refers to him being a Muslim and his Wikipedia entry includes this: 'In 2009, he became the first Muslim in British history to attend the cabinet when he was appointed as Minister of State for Transport'.

However I have also read a comment in the New Statesman that:

'Sadiq Khan is NOT Muslim. He's agnostic, with a Muslim background.

Question Time on BBC1, David Dimbleby turned to Khan and referred to him as a Muslim. Khan replied "Actually I'm agnostic" and carried on with his answer.'

Did this happen, is there video anywhere?

It is interesting as Muslim Aid and MPAC certainly regard Sadiq Khan as a Muslim.

So is Sadiq Khan a Muslim or an agnostic? I wonder about this because the Sharia Law punishment for a Muslim who leaves the faith, commits apostasy, is death.

So (assuming he did say it) was Sadiq Khan telling the truth when he said he was not a Muslim but an agnostic and if so why have the death threats from outraged Muslims not poured forth or was he not being entirely straight with Question Time, or is there another explanation?

I certainly am not and can't recall saying that. I do recall getting into a heated exchange with Nigel Farage MEP about the idea of politicians telling women what they can and cant wear in the context of "banning the nikab". I think David Dimbleby asked my personal view as a Muslim. I meant to say (and thought I did say) I am agnostic about whether women should wear the nikab or not. My point was it's not for me, as a male politician, to tell women what to wear - let alone legislate to ban or criminalise it.

And for the avoidance of doubt, I am not agnostic about my faith!'

I would like to see the video itself to see what Sadiq Khan actually said, rather than read what he 'meant to say', any sources?

Labour minister Sadiq Khan in another expenses row

The Telegraph report that:

'Senior Labour minister Sadiq Khan has been accused of abusing House of Commons expenses to support his election campaign.

Days before the dissolution of Parliament for the election, Mr Khan, a transport minister, used Commons stationary and pre-paid envelopes to write to hundreds of voters in his marginal seat lauding his own record.

The Conservatives will on Monday make a formal complaint to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards about Mr Khan, the MP for Tooting in south London.'

This is of course the same Sadiq Khan who had recent problems over some rather peculiar printing receipts.

Back in March the BBC ignored this story of Labour malpractice and I unsurprised to note that they are ignoring this story as well. Sadiq Khan is quite clearly untouchable so far as the BBC are concerned.

It's a Labour MP so not a word on the BBC

Whilst Guido Fawkes is able to report that:

"Transport Minister Sadiq Khan is in hot water this afternoon after it has been revealed that he lied to the press and to the Parliamentary authorities. He is paying back £2,500. Having had over a grands worth of greeting card receipts rightly rejected from his Communications Allowance claims, Khan then went back to the printers and had them create a new receipt, for the same amount, but without the birthday cards itemised on them. This fraudulent receipt was then accepted by the Fees Office."

The BBC seem unable to report the same news; I presume that they are either waiting to find a Conservative MP with a major honesty issue or are awaiting instructions from Labour's spin department as to how to report this story.

What did Jack Straw know?

The line that the BBC are pushing this morning is that:

"Ministry of Justice officials were told on 14 December about allegations that Labour MP Sadiq Khan had been bugged, an internal investigation has revealed.

They and Justice Secretary Jack Straw's special adviser were told of press interest - but Mr Straw was not told.

He was only informed there was a story about Mr Khan and Woodhill Prison, and assumed it was a political smear...

BBC political editor Nick Robinson said Mr Straw was not told about the allegations that conversations between Mr Khan and Babar Ahmad had been bugged."


Very strange indeed:

1) officials from Jack Straw's department were told about allegations that Sadiq Khan had been bugged

2) officials from Jack Straw's department and Jack Straw's special advisor were told of press interest

3) Jack Straw was only told that there was a story about Mr Khan and Woodhill Prison and he assumed that was a smear


Does this ring true? Will everyone involved (and I include the BBC) hold this line? Are there more revelations about Gordon Brown's knowledge of this matter to leak out today? What will the next development be? Has David Cameron got a surprise up his sleeve for PMQs at noon?
