Major Nidal Malik Hasan - The Fort Hood jihadi - update

I have written about the Fort Hood shootings before, here, here, here, here, here and here, and was wondering what was happening to the murdering Major. American Thinker has some updates:

'We have been hearing for years that the White House is withholding evidence on the Fort Hood jihadi, Major Nidal Malik Hasan.  Now comes direct confirmation of this from Hasan's own lawyer.

... in October 2010, a soldier at Fort Hood who caught Hasan's jihad murders in two videos on his cell phone camera was ordered by his commanding officer to delete both videos.

And back in April 2010, Senators Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and Susan Collins (R-ME) had to subpoena the Obama White House to get information it was withholding for a congressional investigation into the Fort Hood jihad massacre.'

There's more in that article, take a read, but it does all point to an American establishment that seems incapable of confronting radical Islam even in their own armed forces. They line that spoke to me was this one:

'... despite the staggering loss of U.S. soldiers in Hasan's Fort Hood massacre, the chief concern of Army Chief of Staff Gen. George W. Casey, Jr. in the bloody aftermath of the Fort Hood jihad was that "speculation could potentially heighten backlash against some of our Muslim soldiers and what happened at Fort Hood was a tragedy, but I believe it would be an even greater tragedy if our diversity becomes a casualty here."'

As recently as July of this year I blogged that:

'The US Army psychiatrist accused in a deadly shooting rampage at a Texas base will face a court martial and possible death penalty, a general has ruled.

Maj Nidal Malik Hasan is accused of killing 13 people and wounding 32 more in November 2009 at Fort Hood.'

You will not be surprised to learn that the BBC manage not to report Major Hasan's blood-curdling cries as he attacked the soldiers but prefers to say this:

'He has been described as a devout Muslim and a poor-performing military officer who alarmed his superiors with his eccentric behaviour.''

So I was interested to read this on the BBC that:

'It also emerged after the Fort Hood incident that Awlaki had given the US Army psychiatrist charged with killing 13 people, Maj Nidal Malik Hasan, religious advice by email. He had also seen Awlaki preach in Virginia in 2001.

In July 2009, the cleric posted a blog saying a Muslim soldier who fought other Muslims was a "heartless beast, bent on evil, who sells his religion for a few dollars". Following the shootings, Awlaki called Maj Hasan a hero.

"My support to the operation was because the operation brother Nidal carried out was a courageous one," he told al-Jazeera.

"And I endeavoured to explain my position regarding what happened because many Islamic organisations and preachers in the West condemned the operation."'

 So Major Nidal Hasan was 'a devout Muslim' and went to see Anwar al-Awlaki preach. You wouldn't have thought so from the BBC's previous coverage of the murdering major's activities.

I also read at Investigative Project that:

'Fort Hood attack: The Nov. 5, 2009, shootings in Fort Hood, Texas, killed 13 people and wounded at least 30 others. Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, the accused killer, communicated with Awlaki by email about 18 times in 2008, records show. After the shootings, Awlaki posted a message on his website calling Hasan a hero.'

The dangerous blindness of the politically correct

James Corum in The Telegraph reports that: "Pentagon report on Fort Hood is a travesty that doesn't even mention Islam "

Here's an extract from James' sadly unsurprising piece on the investigation into the Jihadi attack on Fort Hood :

"For decades, the military fostered “diversity” and “affirmative action” policies that established lower recruitment, promotion, and performance standards for politically favoured ethnic groups. Despite the negative effects on morale and efficiency these policies have had, they could not be criticised by anyone who valued his or her career.

Unfortunately, my prediction that the Obama administration report on Fort Hood would be a whitewash has proven spot-on correct. The Defence Department just released the official report called “Protecting the Force: Lessons from Fort Hood.” The document is worse than nonsense; it is a travesty and an insult to US armed forces.

In an 86-page report dealing with a mass murder that has clearly been linked to radical Islam, the authors failed to mention Islam once! The most fundamental questions about the shootings were studiously ignored. Not only was there no mention of the role Islam and Islamic radical teaching played in the killings, the question of how an officer as incompetent and troubled as Major Nidal Hassan could make it through personnel reviews and even be promoted was never directly asked. If it had been, West and Clark would have had to question the policies they had established – and that would never do.

The report failed to note some of the central facts of the case. For example, the perpetrator, Major Hassan, was never refereed to by name but as “the alleged perpetrator.” The report concentrated its efforts on issues such as base emergency response plans. In a way, this is a good idea because the politically correct policies of the Obama administration will do nothing to prevent future Islamist-inspired attacks and so we’d better have a good casualty response system ready for the next mass killing."

Read it all and realise that our leaders don't really care about the war on terror. In their overview we the public are expendable.

Another terrorist attack on the US Army in the USA?

CBN News are reporting that:

"CBN News has learned exclusively that five Muslim soldiers at Fort Jackson in South Carolina were arrested just before Christmas. It is unclear whether the men are still in custody. The five were part of the Arabic Translation program at the base.

Patrick Jones, the Deputy Public Affairs Officer for Fort Jackson, confirmed for CBN News Thursday afternoon that an investigation was ongoing.

Prior to this posting, CBN News learned that these details were also confirmed by a government official with knowledge of the investigation.

The men are suspected of trying to poison the food supply at Fort Jackson.

A source with intimate knowledge of the investigation, which is ongoing, told CBN News investigators suspect the "Fort Jackson Five" may have been in contact with the group of five Washington, D.C., area Muslims that traveled to Pakistan to wage jihad against U.S. troops in December. That group was arrested by Pakistani authorities, also just before Christmas.

Coming as it does on the heels of November's Fort Hood jihadist massacre, this news could have major implications. "

Interestingly Sean Linnane reports on the other recent Islamic Jihadi attacks on US soil that apart from the Fort Hood murders have hot been at all widely reported. It is almost as though the MSM want to keep news of these Jihadi attacks from the attention of the populace; why?

The Fort Hood multiple murder story and the BBC

Whoosh and it's all but gone. Today the Fort Hood murder story has almost disappeared from the BBC news front page, all that is left is Obama praises army base heroism. So we travel to World News where we find the Fort Hood murders are still the top story. So how are the BBC reporting the story, what are the prisms through which they see the horrific events? The top story is the aforementioned Obama reaction piece which tells us that "President Barack Obama praises the "valour" of those who responded to the deadly attacks at a US army base in Texas. " This piece like many others on the BBC news website then goes on to "investigate" the possible causes of the murderer: "Investigators are waiting for Maj Hasan to emerge from his coma but have examined his home and computer records to try to find any clue to the motive of his attack.

Reports suggested that he had been increasingly unhappy in the military and that his work at his previous post - Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington DC - had been the subject of concern.

His cousin told US media that Maj Hasan had been opposed to an imminent deployment overseas, describing it as his "worst nightmare".

He also said that Maj Hasan had been battling racial harassment because of his "Middle Eastern ethnicity."

The manager of his apartment complex told Associated Press news agency that Maj Hasan's car had been badly scratched recently by an army employee who had returned from Iraq and objected to Maj Hasan's faith.

AP also quoted a former classmate on a Maryland university course as saying that Maj Hasan was a "vociferous opponent" of America fighting conflicts in Muslim countries."
It's a mystery isn't it? He had become "increasingly unhappy in the military", a "vociferous opponent" of America fighting conflicts in Muslim countries", hmmm no I can't fathom it either. Further, much further down the article the BBC do finally report what may be a clue as to motive

"The commander of the base, Lt Gen Robert Cone, told NBC News that, according to eyewitnesses, Mr Hasan had shouted the Arabic phrase "Allahu Akbar!" [God is great] before opening fire."

Let's see: "increasingly unhappy in the military", a "vociferous opponent" of America fighting conflicts in Muslim countries" and shouted "the Arabic phrase "Allahu Akbar!" [God is great] before opening fire." Almost inexplicable isn't it?!


The next BBC "report" is the bizarrely entitled "Shooting raises fears for Muslims in US army " in which "The BBC's Penny Spiller considers how it may affect the thousands of Muslims in the US military?" Oddly enough bearing in mind that this is not the first incident, remember in 2003 when Sergeant Hasan Akbar threw hand grenades and opened fire on a tent full of sleeping soldiers in the early hours of the morning; he killed two officers and injured 14 other personnel. This was in Kuwait as his unit prepared to move into Iraq. Back then the murderer's family said he had been suffering religious and racial harassment from other soldiers, although no witnesses came forward to say this at his trial. The prosecution described him as a "hate-filled, ideologically driven murderer", which seems closer to the truth.

I may be wrong here but might the story be to ask how many other Muslims in the US military might take similar action against their fellow soldiers and how at risk normal members of the US military might be? Maybe the BBC will consider this angle elsewhere...


The next BBC piece is entitled "Coping with stressed soldiers" and repeats the mantra like claim "While it is still unclear what led a US army major to shoot dead 13 people on a Texas army base" before going on to consider the psychological stresses face by the military. It's a good piece on a worthwhile subject but I feel it is a diversion from the subject at hand.


The next BBC piece is by Mark Mardell and he gets right into the defensive speculation

"The truth is of course cloudy. The alleged murderer was clearly a Muslim, but there is very little to suggest that he adhered to a hard-line interpretation of his religion or that he had political or religious motives.

He may or may not have posted something on the internet defending suicide bombers. But he also appears to have been traumatised by the idea of being sent to a combat zone. "

What no mention of the shouted "Allahu Akbar!", no that can't be relevant.

"Still, people will speculate - as I am doing. Life may become more uncomfortable for his innocent co-religionists, a regrettable consequence of any such attack."

Again worries over what the 'backlash' might be rather than over whether another similar attack might take place.

"We search for certainty and for answers. Some will go down blind alleys: reports of his "religious attire", for example, may turn out to be a red herring."

Interesting how Mark Mardell states as fact that "Some will go down blind alleys" and links that to the factual "religious attire" of the murderer. Very neatly done.

Mark Mardell's piece, after he has excused Barack Obama from any responsibility - in the Mardell world praise for the Obvamamessiah is a key part of any article he writes - end thus

"Still, searching for patterns and for answers is part of what it is to be human. I loathe cliche, but perhaps, for once, this is a "senseless tragedy", devoid of deeper meaning."

"perhaps"? Perhaps not. Do take a read of the comments underneath Mark Mardell's piece; they split between the bleeding-heart liberals who have swallowed every piece of the multicultural phrasebook and can regurgitate it at will, the islamaphobes (although quite a few of their comments have likely fallen foul of "house rules") and the sorrowful realists who can see what happened because they allow themselves to look at the facts and are deeply worried about where we are heading.

Major Nidal Hasan's murderous jihadi attack or workplace incident at Fort Hood

I've written about this case before and have noticed that the BBC are incredibly uninterested in reporting the ongoing case. Thanks to Jihad Watch I have an update:

'I received this email today from Neal M. Sher, attorney for the victims of Nidal Hasan's murderous jihad attack at Fort Hood on November 5, 2009.

As the attorney for the victims of the Ft. Hood massacre, and their families, I can say unequivocally that at every turn the Administration and the Army have twisted rules, regulation and common sense into pretzels to avoid acknowledging what Hasan himself has admitted prior to the attack and now in court: that he is a committed and devout jihadist who is fighting for an enemy.

The question which needs an answer: in light of his admission why has he not been tried for treason, as was Bradley Manning? While his crimes are most serious, he's not a mass murderer.'

So why is Barack Hussein Obama so keen to 'avoid acknowledging what Hasan himself has admitted prior to the attack and now in court: that he is a committed and devout jihadist who is fighting for an enemy'? It's a mystery.

Fascinating CNN video spotted by A Tangled Web.

This fear of a Muslim having to fight another Muslim is just another manifestation for some Muslims of the loyalty to the Ummah overriding any other loyalty.

The BBC report the story with the excusing line "He also said that Maj Hasan had been battling racial harassment because of his "Middle Eastern ethnicity"."

Personally I am more interested in the real reasons behind Major Hasan's killing spree and I think The Telegraph may have some clues: apparently he shouted "Allahu Akbar" before opening fire -

"Soldiers who witnessed the shooting rampage that killed 13 people at Fort Hood military base in Texas have reported that gunman Major Nidal Malik Hasan shouted "Allahu Akbar" - God is great - before opening fire."

The Telegraph also reveal that

"Col Terry Lee, a retired officer who worked with him at the military base in Texas, alleged Maj Hasan had angry confrontations with other officers over his views.

Maj Hasan was reportedly fighting orders to be deployed to Iraq at the end of the month, claiming that he was the victim of harassment and insults because of his Arab background and his faith.

The major is a psychiatrist who had been treating soldiers returning from Iraq for post-traumatic stress and alcohol and drug abuse problems.

"He was making outlandish comments condemning our foreign policy and claimed Muslims had the right to rise up and attack Americans," Col Lee told Fox News.

"He said Muslims should stand up and fight the aggressor and that we should not be in the war in the first place." He said that Maj Hasan said he was "happy" when a US soldier was killed in an attack on a military recruitment centre in Arkansas in June. An American convert to Islam was accused of the shootings.

Col Lee alleged that other officers had told him that Maj Hasan had said "maybe people should strap bombs on themselves and go to Time Square" in New York. "

The same Telegraph piece also reveals that:

"Federal law enforcement officials have said Maj Hasan had come to their attention at least six months ago because of internet postings that discussed suicide bombings and other threats.

The officials said the postings appeared to have been made by Maj Hasan but they were still trying to confirm that he was the author. "

Is there anything to fear from the Muslim Brotherhood?

The BBC would try to persuade us that we have nothing to fear from the Muslim Brotherhood, Andrew McCarthy at the National Review thinks differently:

'One might wonder how an organization can be thought to have renounced violence when it has inspired m4ore jihadists than any other, and when its Palestinian branch, the Islamic Resistance Movement, is probably more familiar to you by the name Hamas — a terrorist organization committed by charter to the violent destruction of Israel. Indeed, in recent years, the Brotherhood (a.k.a., the Ikhwan) has enthusiastically praised jihad and even applauded — albeit in more muted tones — Osama bin Laden.

The Brotherhood did not suddenly become violent (or “more violent”) during World War II. It was violent from its origins two decades earlier. This fact — along with Egyptian Islamic society’s deep antipathy toward the West and its attraction to the Nazis’ virulent anti-Semitism — is what gradually beat European powers, especially Britain, into withdrawal.

Islamism is not a right-wing movement. The Brotherhood’s is a revolutionary program, the political and economic components of which are essentially socialist. It is no accident that Islamists in America are among the staunchest supporters of Obamacare and other redistributionist elements of the Obama agenda. But Akef affirmed the Brotherhood’s support for al-Qaeda’s “activities against the occupiers.”

no more than we should be surprised when the Brotherhood’s sharia compass, Sheikh Yusuf Qaradawi, approves suicide bombings or unleashes rioting over mere cartoons; no more than when the Ikhwan’s Hamas faction reaffirms its foundational pledge to destroy Israel. Nidal Hasan, the Fort Hood killer.

To this day, the Brotherhood’s motto remains, “Allah is our objective, the Prophet is our leader, the Koran is our law, Jihad is our way, and dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope. Allahu akbar!” Still, our see-no-Islamic-evil foreign-policy establishment blathers on about the Brotherhood’s purported renunciation of violence — and never you mind that, with or without violence, its commitment is, as Qaradawi puts it, to “conquer America” and “conquer Europe.”

The Obama administration has courted Egyptian Islamists from the start. It invited the Muslim Brotherhood to the president’s 2009 Cairo speech, even though the organization is officially banned in Egypt. It has rolled out the red carpet to the Brotherhood’s Islamist infrastructure in the U.S. — CAIR, the Muslim American Society, the Islamic Society of North America, the Ground Zero mosque activists — even though many of them have a documented history of Hamas support. To be sure, the current administration has not been singular in this regard. The courting of Ikhwan-allied Islamists has been a bipartisan project since the early 1990s, and elements of the intelligence community and the State Department have long agitated for a license to cultivate the Brotherhood overtly. They think what Anwar Sadat thought: Hey, we can work with these guys.

There is a very good chance we are about to reap what they’ve sown. We ought to be very afraid.'

I am more inclined to believe Andrew C. McCarthy, a senior fellow at the National Review Institute, the author, most recently, of The Grand Jihad: How Islam and the Left Sabotage America than the BBC's choice of 'experts;.

“the bloody beast is back.”

Pajamas Media print a large section of a sermon given by Rabbi S. Lewis on Rosh Hashona, entitled “Ehr Kumt” (He is Coming). It's a sobering piece that fits in with my view that israel's time is nearly up, here's part of it:

'I thought long and I thought hard on whether to deliver the sermon I am about to share. We all wish to bounce happily out of shul on the High Holidays, filled with warm fuzzies, ready to gobble up our brisket, our honey cakes and our kugel. We want to be shaken and stirred – but not too much. We want to be guilt-schlepped – but not too much. We want to be provoked but not too much. We want to be transformed but not too much.

I get it, but as a rabbi I have a compelling obligation, a responsibility to articulate what is in my heart and what I passionately believe must be said and must be heard. And so, I am guided not by what is easy to say but by what is painful to express. I am guided not by the frivolous but by the serious. I am guided not by delicacy but by urgency.

We are at war. We are at war with an enemy as savage, as voracious, as heartless as the Nazis but one wouldn’t know it from our behavior. During WWII we didn’t refer to storm troopers as freedom fighters. We didn’t call the Gestapo, militants. We didn’t see the attacks on our Merchant Marine as acts by rogue sailors. We did not justify the Nazis rise to power as our fault. We did not grovel before the Nazis, thumping our hearts and confessing to abusing and mistreating and humiliating the German people. We did not apologize for Dresden, nor for The Battle of the Bulge, nor for El Alamein, nor for D-Day.

Evil – ultimate, irreconcilable, evil threatened us and Roosevelt and Churchill had moral clarity and an exquisite understanding of what was at stake.

Not all Germans were Nazis – most were decent, most were revolted by the Third Reich, most were good citizens hoisting a beer, earning a living and tucking in their children at night. But, too many looked away, too many cried out in lame defense – “I didn’t know.” Too many were silent. Guilt absolutely falls upon those who committed the atrocities, but responsibility and guilt falls upon those who did nothing as well.

In WWII we won because we got it. We understood who the enemy was and we knew that the end had to be unconditional and absolute. We did not stumble around worrying about offending the Nazis. We did not measure every word so as not to upset our foe. We built planes and tanks and battleships and went to war to win … to rid the world of malevolence.

We are at war. … Let me mince no words in saying that from Fort Hood to Bali, from Times Square to London, from Madrid to Mumbai, from 9/11 to Gaza, the murderers, the barbarians are radical Islamists.

To camouflage their identity is sedition. To excuse their deeds is contemptible. To mask their intentions is unconscionable.

...

I remember one Shabbos in 1938 when Vladimir Jabotinsky came to the shul... When Jabotinsky came, he delivered the drash on Shabbos morning and I can still hear his words burning in my ears. He climbed up to the shtender, stared at us from the bima, glared at us with eyes full of fire and cried out. ‘EHR KUMT. YIDN FARLAWST AYER SHTETL – He’s coming. Jews abandon your city.’”

We thought we were safe in Lithuania from the Nazis, from Hitler. We had lived there, thrived for a thousand years but Jabotinsky was right — his warning prophetic. We got out but most did not.”

We are not in Lithuania. It is not the 1930s. There is no Luftwaffe overhead. No U-boats off the coast of long Island. No Panzer divisions on our borders. But make no mistake; we are under attack – our values, our tolerance, our freedom, our virtue, our land.

Today the enemy is radical Islam but it must be said sadly and reluctantly that there are unwitting, co-conspirators who strengthen the hands of the evil doers…The good Muslims must sponsor rallies in Times Square, in Trafalgar Square, in the UN Plaza, on the Champs Elysee, in Mecca condemning terrorism, denouncing unequivocally the slaughter of the innocent. Thus far, they have not. The good Muslims must place ads in the NY Times. Their silence allows the vicious to tarnish Islam and define it.

Brutal acts of commission and yawning acts of omission both strengthen the hand of the devil.

Lighten up, Lewis. Take a chill pill, some of you are quietly thinking. …It’s not that bad. It’s not that real.” But I am here to tell you – “It is.” Ask the member of our shul whose sister was vaporized in the Twin Towers and identified finally by her charred teeth, if this is real or not. Ask the members of our shul who fled a bus in downtown Paris, fearing for their safety from a gang of Muslim thugs, if this is an exaggeration. Ask the member of our shul whose son tracks Arab terrorist infiltrators who target – pizza parlors, nursery schools, Pesach seders, city buses and play grounds, if this is dramatic, paranoid hyperbole.

Ask them, ask all of them – ask the American GI’s we sit next to on planes who are here for a brief respite while we fly off on our Delta vacation package. Ask them if it’s bad. Ask them if it’s real.

…From sea to shining sea, we must stand tall, prideful of our stunning decency and moral resilience. Immediately after 9/11 how many mosques were destroyed in America? None. After 9/11, how many Muslims were killed in America? None. After 9/11, how many anti-Muslim rallies were held in America? None. And yet, we apologize. We grovel. We beg forgiveness….

Israel is the laboratory – the test market. Every death, every explosion, every grisly encounter is not a random, bloody orgy. It is a calculated, strategic probe into the heart, guts and soul of the West….

As Israel, imperfect as she is, resists the onslaught, many in the Western World have lost their way displaying not admiration, not sympathy, not understanding, for Israel’s galling plight, but downright hostility and contempt. Without moral clarity, we are doomed because Israel’s galling plight ultimately will be ours. Hanna Arendt in her classic Origins of Totalitarianism accurately portrays the first target of tyranny as the Jew. .. If the Jew/Israel is permitted to bleed with nary a protest from “good guys” then tyranny snickers and pushes forward with its agenda…

Isaiah warned us thousands of years ago — “Oye Lehem Sheh-Korim Layome, Laila v’Laila, yome – Woe to them who call the day, night and the night, day.” We live on a planet that is both Chelm and Sodom. It is a frightening and maddening place to be.

I know that there are those sitting here today who have turned me off. But I also know that many turned off their rabbis seventy five years ago in Warsaw, Riga, Berlin, Amsterdam, Cracow, Vilna. I get no satisfaction from that knowledge, only a bitter sense that there is nothing new under the sun…

A rabbi was once asked by his students….“Rebbi. Why are your sermons so stern?” Replied the rabbi, “If a house is on fire and we chose not to wake up our children, for fear of disturbing their sleep, would that be love? Kinderlach, ‘di hoyz brent.’ Children our house is on fire and I must arouse you from your slumber.”

Democracies don’t always win.

Shock horror; murderous Muslim Major had connections to 9/11 bombers

The Telegraph report that

"Major Nidal Malik Hasan worshipped at a mosque led by a radical imam said to be a "spiritual adviser" to three of the hijackers who attacked America on Sept 11, 2001.

...

Hasan, the sole suspect in the massacre of 13 fellow US soldiers in Texas, attended the controversial Dar al-Hijrah mosque in Great Falls, Virginia, in 2001 at the same time as two of the September 11 terrorists, The Sunday Telegraph has learnt. His mother's funeral was held there in May that year.

The preacher at the time was Anwar al-Awlaki, an American-born Yemeni scholar who was banned from addressing a meeting in London by video link in August because he is accused of supporting attacks on British troops and backing terrorist organisations.

Hasan's eyes "lit up" when he mentioned his deep respect for al-Awlaki's teachings, according to a fellow Muslim officer at the Fort Hood base in Texas, the scene of Thursday's horrific shooting spree."

I will just check the BBC to see if they are covering this aspect of the story or if they are still wondering and looking "for answers" and stating that "reports of his "religious attire", for example, may turn out to be a red herring."".

FBI national domestic threat assessment omits Islamist terrorism | Fox News

' The FBI's most recent national threat assessment for domestic terrorism makes no reference to Islamist terror threats, despite last year's Boston Marathon bombing and the 2009 Fort Hood shooting—both carried out by radical Muslim Americans.

Instead, the internal FBI intelligence report concluded in its 2013 assessment published this month that the threat to U.S. internal security from extremists is limited to attacks and activities by eight types of domestic extremist movements—none motivated by radical Islam.

They include anti-government militia groups and white supremacy extremists, along with "sovereign citizen" nationalists, and anarchists. Other domestic threat groups outlined by the FBI assessment include violent animal rights and environmentalist extremists, black separatists, anti- and pro-abortion activists, and Puerto Rican nationalists.

"Domestic extremist violence continues to be unpredictable and, at times, severe," the report states.'

The Telegraph report that

"Major Nidal Malik Hasan, the gunman who killed 13 at America's Fort Hood military base, once gave a lecture to other doctors in which he said non-believers should be beheaded and have boiling oil poured down their throats. "

Meanwhile the BBC are still insisting that the Major's motives are unclear and that:

"Army Chief of Staff George Casey warned against speculation.

He told ABC's This Week programme on Sunday that focusing on Maj Hasan's religion could "heighten the backlash" against all Muslims in the military.

Reports suggested that Maj Hasan, who was due to be sent to Afghanistan, had been increasingly unhappy in the army.

His cousin told US media last week that he had been opposed to his imminent deployment, describing it as his "worst nightmare".

Mr Hasan's cousin also said the gunman had been battling racial harassment because of his "Middle Eastern ethnicity."

Maj Hasan was born in the US of Palestinian parents and has been described as a devout Muslim."

Thursday morning catch-up

Usual story, too many open tabs in Firefox and not enough time, oh and this time so many that Firefox keeps crashing:

1) Peter Ferrara for Fox News explains how the US budget can be balanced, after all Republicans did it the last time the Democrats broke the economy. There are of course major parallels with the UK when Margaret Thatcher needed to undo the socialist policies of the previous Labour government. Policies that the left in the UK regularly deride and spew hatred at but were necessary and rescued the UK from bankruptcy; sound familiar? The problem now is that David Cameron is no Margaret Thatcher and has already shown himself to be a coward and no Conservative.


2) This Daily Mail article sings the benefits of nudism; not much to disagree with there.


3) The Metro, a London free paper, shows a worrying lack of mathematical knowledge, let alone understanding of global warming. Under the headline 'Melting Arctic ice 'to flood London in 100 years' if global warming continues' The Metro reports that 'London could be flooded within 100 years as melting Arctic ice causes sea levels to rise by up to 900cm (3ft), a new study shows.' One slight problem is that there are around 30cm to a foot, not 300cm. So either this is 90cm (3ft) or 900cm (30ft); maybe they meant 900mm, maybe the journalist doesn't check facts. Whatever the reason if the journalist cannot report a simple pair of related numbers correctly, what hope do we have that the rest of the reporting in that article is any more than writing what the press briefing said? For some real analysis I suggest reading The Daily Bayonet.


4) The BBC reported
that

'The US Army psychiatrist accused in a deadly shooting rampage at a Texas base will face a court martial and possible death penalty, a general has ruled.

Maj Nidal Malik Hasan is accused of killing 13 people and wounding 32 more in November 2009 at Fort Hood.'

You will not be surprised to learn that the BBC manage not to report Major Hasan's blood-curdling cries as he attacked the soldiers but prefers to say this:

'He has been described as a devout Muslim and a poor-performing military officer who alarmed his superiors with his eccentric behaviour.'

5) VDare wonders at the pairings of the last 20 dancers on America's 'So You Think You Can Dance' - he thinks he may have spotted a patten...

Reasons to be angry - 1,2,3

1) The Telegraph report that: '

“The radical Islamic cleric Anwar al-Awlaki who is accused of inspiring the cargo bomb plot has been backed by a prominent British campaign group which has financial support from leading charities.
Cageprisoners, a self-styled human rights organisation, has a long association with Anwar al-Awlaki, who was last week accused of being one of the figures behind the terrorist plot to blow up cargo planes which saw a powerful device defused at East Midlands Airport.
Awlaki is believed by Western intelligence services to be an ideological figurehead of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the group blamed for the cargo bombs. Last year he praised the Muslim US soldier who killed 13 colleagues at Fort Hood, Texas.
Cageprisoners was set up to lobby on behalf of terror suspects held at Guantanamo Bay and those monitored under control orders in the UK. The Sunday Telegraph can reveal that it is being funded by the Joseph Rowntree Trust, a Quaker-run fund set up by the chocolate-maker and philanthropist a century ago, and The Roddick Foundation, a charity set up by the family of Anita Roddick, the Body Shop founder, after her death three years ago. The Joseph Rowntree Trust is giving Cageprisoners £170,000 in donations over three years – with the latest payment due this month – and The Roddick Foundation another £25,000

2) The Telegraph's Andrew Gilligan reports that:

An investigation by The Sunday Telegraph has established that the education watchdog has published positive reports praising Muslim schools for their contribution to community cohesion -- even in the case of a school which openly states that Muslims "oppose the lifestyle of the West".

The Ofsted inspector responsible for many of the reports, Michele Messaoudi, has been accused of having links to radical Islamist organisations.

This newspaper can reveal that another recent Ofsted inspector, Akram Khan-Cheema, is the chief executive of a radical Muslim educational foundation, IBERR.

Its website describes Islamic schools as "one of the most important factors which protect Muslim children from the onslaught of Euro-centrism, homosexuality, racism, and secular traditions".

Ofsted has also passed the inspection of dozens of Muslim schools to a new private "faith schools watchdog", the Bridge Schools Inspectorate, which is co-controlled by Islamic schools' own lobbying and trade body, the Association of Muslim Schools.

The Bridge Schools Inspectorate allows Muslim head teachers to inspect each other's schools.

Among the schools directly inspected by Ofsted was the Madani Girls' School, a private Islamic school in London's East End.

Its Ofsted report, written by Mrs Messaoudi, said it made pupils "aware of their future role as proactive young British Muslim women" and left them "well-prepared for life in a multicultural society".

However, the Madani Girls' School's own website openly states: "If we oppose the lifestyle of the West, then it does not seem sensible that the teachers and the system which represents that lifestyle should educate our children."

It says that under western education "our children will distance themselves from Islam until there is nothing left but their beautiful names".

Last month, this newspaper revealed how girls at the school were being forced to wear the Islamic veil, a fact that was not mentioned in its 2008 Ofsted report. The Madani School declined to comment last night.

Ofsted also inspected the Tawhid Boys' School in Hackney, north London. Its Ofsted report, written by Mrs Messaoudi, said the curriculum was "good ... broad and balanced in Key Stages 2 and 3".

However, the school's prospectus says that the curriculum is kept strictly "within the bounds of Sharia [Islamic law]." Its art syllabus bans pupils from drawing human beings, animals and objects that Islam deems "unlawful". The school did not return calls.

Mrs Messaoudi also wrote the Ofsted report cited by Ed Balls, the then schools secretary, as "clearing" schools run by supporters of the racist, extremist sect Hizb ut Tahrir.

The schools, the Islamic Shakhsiyah Foundation establishments in Haringey, north London, and Slough, Berks, received more than £113,000 of public funding and became the subject of national controversy after being exposed in The Sunday Telegraph.

One of the Foundation's trustees, Farah Ahmed, who is also headmistress of the Slough school, wrote a chapter in a Hizb ut Tahrir pamphlet attacking the National Curriculum for its "systematic indoctrination" of Muslim children "to build model British citizens".

She criticised "attempts to integrate Muslim children" into British society as an effort "to produce new generations that reject Islam".

She described English as "one of the most damaging subjects" a school can teach and attacked fairy tales, saying that these "reflect secular and immoral beliefs that contradict the viewpoint of Islam".

She also attacked the "obvious dangers" of Shakespeare, including "Romeo and Juliet, which advocates disobeying parents and premarital relations".

Mrs Messaoudi's Ofsted report on the Haringey school said it was "satisfactory." [...]

Unlike "mainline" Ofsted inspections, which are carried out entirely by professional inspectors, BSI inspections of Muslim schools are often done by a team of three which always includes one head teacher of another Muslim school.

The BSI report into Bury Park Educational Institute, a mixed but gender-segregated Muslim secondary in Luton, claims that "the quality of education is good" even though the report itself admits that girls at the school get less teaching than boys.

"Some aspects of National Curriculum subjects are in a few respects currently less for the girls than for the boys," it says, and there is not yet "full, equal access to National Curriculum subjects" between girls and boys.

3)  The Telegraph also reports that: At least 46 convicted Islamic terrorists who have been either released from prison or are close to being freed “pose a risk” to the public and face tight new controls on their freedom, a secret Government document discloses.


So we have  UK charities supporting 'charities' with seeming links to Islamic terrorists, Islamic schools being inspected to a lesser standard than non-Islamic schools & apologies being made for their lack of equality and finally Islamists who 'pose a risk' to the public being freed from jail so they can 'pose a risk' to the public.

Reasons to be angry? I should say so!

The cry of "Allahu Akhbar" that the BBC ignores

In Libya rebel forces cry it as they advance through the dessert


In Frankfurt the killer of two US soldiers cried it as he shot at them on the bus:

'Running on to the bus screaming "Allah Akbar" - meaning "God is Great" - he fired nine times before the gun jammed and other passengers subdued him, ABCNews reported.'

At Fort Hood, Major Nidal Hasan  cried it as he went on his rampage:

'he heard the gunman shout out "Allahu Akbar" just before the firing began.
"After I heard that I pretty much froze up because I knew what that meant," said Zeigler, referring to the Arabic phrase meaning "God is great."'

Many of the crowd on the streets of Cairo shout it:


The men who shot Israeli border guard Isam Abu-Rish were shouting 'Allahu Akbar' as they shot him in the back


Of the Islamist Chechens who massacred three people in Grozny last year:

'One blew himself up and two others went on the rampage inside, spraying bullets and screaming "Allahu Akbar" ("God is Greatest"), a witness at the parliament building said.'

The attempted Portland bomber Mohamed Osman Mohamud began shouting “Allahu Akbar!” and struggled to get away from arresting officers when the “explosive” laden van failed to detonate and agents swooped in on him.

In Jerusalem in 2008 a

'Palestinian terrorist screams "Allahu Akbar" as he rams bulldozer into pedestrians, cars and packed buses'

And yet when I search the BBC website for the phrase Allah Akhbar I find just six instances:

1) 'Hopes fade after Java landslide' - 2006 -

'One man described watching helplessly as dozens of his neighbours were buried alive.

"They were yelling 'Allah Akhbar', and then were slowly buried," 50-year-old Saryono told the Associated Press. '

2) 'Bosnia leader was war crimes suspect' - 2003 -

'The main streets in Sarajevo were closed to traffic, and thousands of people queued outside the presidency building where Mr Izetbegovic was lying in state, his coffin draped in the blue and gold Bosnian flag.

Crowds prayed and chanted Allah Akhbar (God is great) as his coffin was driven through the streets. Some carried the coffin on their shoulders for the final part of the journey. '

3) 'Saddam tape' - full text - 2003 -

'Be united all under your flag, under the Iraqi flag, under the slogan Allahu Akhbar, all in one trench. '

4) 'Israel orders army restraint' - 2002 -

'The Israeli army has been told to exercise restraint and refrain from initiating attacks inside Palestinian-controlled areas, government sources say.

...

Hours after the announcement of the new measures, a Palestinian man was killed at an Israeli military outpost Halhul - near the West Bank town of Hebron.

An Israeli army statement said the man - identified by Israeli public radio as Firas al-Bau, 22 - was killed at the fence after running towards the outpost shouting "Allahu Akhbar" [Allah is Great] - a phrase believed to be uttered by militants before an attack. '

5) 'Anti-war protest in Nairobi' - 2001 -

'Thousands of Muslims in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, have defied a police ban and protested against the American-led attacks against Afghanistan.

Demonstrators came out onto the streets after Friday prayers carrying pictures of Osama Bin Laden, the main suspect behind last month's attacks on New York and Washington.

Banners criticising the United States, Britain and Israel were held aloft and there were chants such as "Down, Down, USA!" and "Allah Akhbar" (God is great) '

6) 'Egyptian death sentences passed' - 1997 -

'A security court in Cairo has issued death sentences on three Islamic militants convicted of killing a large number of Egyptian policemen in attacks carried out five years ago. The men, two of whom were sentenced in absentia, are members of the same faction which carried out the massacre at a temple in Luxor in November, in which nearly 60 foreign tourists were killed. Our Middle East correspondent Jim Muir reports:

The three convicted men are from a group of more than thirty members of the Gama'at al-Islamiya who are on trial for carrying out a series of attacks in upper Egypt in 1992 and 93, in which more than 20 Egyptian police officers were killed.

Only one of the three condemned men was in court to hear the sentence pronounced. His response was to chant 'Allah Akhbar' -- god is greatest. The sentences meted out by the military and security courts are not subject to appeal. '

So across the whole of the BBC news website there are just six reported instances of people crying "Allah Akhbar" and only one of these is associated with Islamic terrorism, and that one is from 1997. Is it any wonder that many people believe that the BBC is deliberately underplaying the influence of Islam on Islamic terrorism?

Let's give the BBC the benefit of the doubt though I thought, maybe the BBC's search engine is playing up; so I searched for Major Nidal and found plenty of article but none that included the reports that he had shouted "Allahu Akbar" as he opened fire. I tried similar searches on the Frankfurt Airport attack and the Cairo protests and not a word on the BBC, it's as though the BBC do not want to report the fact that Islamic terrorists are crying "Allah Akhbar" (God is great) as they make their attacks; why not?

The BBC a contrast in coverage and more on Major Hasan

Do you remember when the news of 9/11 was conveyed to President George W. Bush as he read to children at a school? The BBC and other media used the footage of a shocked and tongue-tied Dubya as an example of how dumb the US President was. Oddly the BBC seem less interested in reporting Barack Obama's initially cringe-making address re the Fort Hood murders some hours after the atrocity took place, just the time to make a "shout out".


Interestingly I read that

"Nidal Malik Hasan was born in Virginia but didn’t think of himself as an American: on a form he filled out at the Muslim Community Center in Silver Spring, Maryland, he gave his nationality not as “American” but as “Palestinian.” A mosque official found that curious, saying: “I don’t know why he listed Palestinian. He was not born in Palestine.”"

I wonder if the BBC will report this story or will they stick to line that religious explanations are a "red herring".

"On May 20, 2009, a man giving his name as “NidalHasan” posted this defense of suicide bombing (all spelling and grammar as it is in the original):

There was a grenade thrown amongs a group of American soldiers. One of the soldiers, feeling that it was to late for everyone to flee jumped on the grave with the intention of saving his comrades. Indeed he saved them. He inentionally took his life (suicide) for a noble cause i.e. saving the lives of his soldier. To say that this soldier committed suicide is inappropriate. Its more appropriate to say he is a brave hero that sacrificed his life for a more noble cause. Scholars have paralled this to suicide bombers whose intention, by sacrificing their lives, is to help save Muslims by killing enemy soldiers. If one suicide bomber can kill 100 enemy soldiers because they were caught off guard that would be considered a strategic victory. Their intention is not to die because of some despair. The same can be said for the Kamikazees in Japan. They died (via crashing their planes into ships) to kill the enemies for the homeland. You can call them crazy i you want but their act was not one of suicide that is despised by Islam. So the scholars main point is that “IT SEEMS AS THOUGH YOUR INTENTION IS THE MAIN ISSUE” and Allah (SWT) knows best.

Of course, it may not be the same Nidal Hasan. But there is more. One of his former colleagues, Col. Terry Lee, recalled Hasan saying statements to the effect of “Muslims have the right to rise up against the U.S. military”; “Muslims have a right to stand up against the aggressors”; and even speaking favorably about people who “strap bombs on themselves and go into Times Square.”

Draw your own conclusions, I have.

Why did nobody challenge Major Hasan?

Lt. General Boykin claims that political correctness allowed the murderous Major Hasan to kill 13 soldiers at Fort Hood, and many would agree with him.
