Another Labour Government waste of money

DEFRA here are publicising news about public rights of way, a very laudable thing. What they are not currently publicising is that the project launched to discover "lost" byways and footpaths is about to be scrapped after spending £4.5million. So how many "lost" byways and footpaths would you think would justify spending that amount of money? 1,000 would mean each would cost £4,500 but maybe 100 at £45,000 each would still be not too excessive. How about 10 at £450,000 each, probably a bit excessive. Well in fact the cost per "lost" byway appears to be infinite as this government project has managed to discover precisely zero "lost" byways and footpaths. Never mind, I'm sure it kept a number of civil servants "usefully" employed for a few years. I wonder what vital project they will move onto next.
