Is Barack Obama untouchable because he is black?

This is something that I have been considering for a while not just in relation to Barack Obama but Lee Jasper, Dianne Abbott, Paul Boateng and others. It seemed to me that one had to be very careful about criticising a black politician in case you were called a racist and thus had your argument stopped in its tracks.

Today I read an interesting piece by Rachel Lucas that covers this area quite nicely, take a read of it. Here's an extract..."The guy is untouchable on so many levels. You can’t say anything that even remotely hints at a reference to his blackness unless it’s very clearly positive. The Clinton superdelegates are being bullied and being called Uncle Toms. It’s all about race to half the people voting for him, but if you vote against him, it better not have ANYTHING to do with that! You racist!"
