If dithering was an Olympic sport he would have a gold medal"

David Cameron's comment on Gordon Brown's decisive courage re attending (or not) the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony - "If dithering was an Olympic sport he would have a gold medal".

If you fancy a further laugh, take a read of the BBC's current coverage of this matter here. It is nicely entitled " Cameron Olympic 'dithering' claim" so the casual reader might think it was David Cameron that was being accused of dithering rather than he being the person accusing Gordon Brown of dithering.

The Brown Broadcasting Corporation then reassure us that there is only "apparent confusion" not real confusion over whether Gordon Brown was going to attend the opening ceremony.

Read on and you can really feel the BBC trying desperately to square this particular circle and so please Gordon and his team of "highly skilled" PR men.

Even if Gordon Brown really did always intend to only attend the closing ceremony, he has handled this affair so badly that people won't even care. The Labour government has gone from being respected by many to being ridiculed by more in the space of six months.
