So who would you rather believe, the IMF who predict that growth in the UK will slow sharply to 1.6% in both 2008 and 2009 or Alistair Darling who still believes that "there were grounds for optimism"?
Take a read of this BBC report of Alistair Darling's interview on Radio 4's Today programme this morning. I caught the end of it and even the BBC interviewer lost patience with the great dithering over-promoted Chancellor.
