In touch with reality?

I see that our beloved Home Secretary has decided that rather than imprison scrotes for carrying knives she will make them
"visit hospitals where stabbing victims are treated, in a bid to shock them into changing their behaviour."
Apparently
"Jacqui Smith said seeing "gruesome" injuries would be a tougher deterrent than sending all knife carriers in England and Wales to jail."

It would seem that our Home Secretary has in fact lost all touch with reality. What she is proposing is that, assuming that they are ever caught in the first place, knife carrying "youths" should be confronted with the fact that knives hurt people. As I have been wont to say, "no shit, Sherlock". You see Ms Smith the "youths" know that knives hurt and kill people, that's why they carry them.

Home Secretary; stop trying to excuse the scum who rule our streets, stop trying to save money by doing anything rather than imprison them. Start looking after the people you were elected to serve, start protecting the victims and start acting like a Home Secretary rather than a social worker.

Apparently Jacqui Smith has said that "it is simplistic and wrong to pretend that prison is an easy answer to all of society’s problems." Indeed it is simplistic but it's a better solution then bloody hospital visits.
