Robert Gibbs' inept attempts at humour and put-downs put me in mind of press secretary Paul Lassiter in Spin City. A character who Wikipedia describe as

"the office cheapskate, suck-up, and noted coward, who has a habit of being a loudmouth and is often kept in the dark about things"

I wonder if someone could call Robert Gibbs, Paul at the next press conference...
