The follow on to The Weeping Angels and The Doctor's get out is not as good as one would hope but it moves the plot on....
Mat Smith's Doctor is becoming quite a good one, more manic than David Tennant and prone to being distracted; I think we have a Tom Baker rather than a Peter Davison. "There isn't a manual for this".
The Weeping Angels are not as scary as in Blink but this, and the previous, episode are scary in their own right - maybe in the same way that Aliens is not as scary as Alien, but still good.
Angel Bob on the communicator and Amy counting down were good plot devices, the latter quite scary for me so probably quite terrifying for a child - which is excellent, just what Dr Who should be about.
Then the return of Amy's crack - sorry, the crack in Amy's bedroom wall - is a good device and obviously the running theme in this series. Is this the equivalent of 'Bad Wolf'?
A beautifully written episode with some great acting by Matt Smith and Karen Gillan. One of the most suspenseful episodes for a long way - "for fun, sir". The forest in the spaceship was a nice touch and changed the episode's dynamic. The way that the crew members lose their memories was wonderfully handled and the way that linked to everyone on Earth forgetting massive events (like the Cber King) in previous series was a real 'Ah nicely done' moment - have RTD and Stephen Moffat been planning this overarching theme for quite a while? "Who's Pedro?" "There's worse than Angels".
Amy Pond's amorous advances on The Doctor are well played and believable if a quick 'squee'. Mind you some nice thigh, slurping noises and as for "You really are sweet Doctor but I really wasn't suggesting something quite so long-term". And as for a "sorted out" double entendre...
And so another companion is the key to everything!
So 26 June 2010 is the big day! That's odd as the last episode of this series is on 26 June 2010... Ooh wooo!
