Do not be so sure that Labour electing Ed Miliband as leader will be a disaster for Labour. The next general election, presuming that this coalition goes the distance is likely to be held against a background of years of endless Labour/Unions/BBC narrative about 'savage cuts'. There will also have been numerous disruptive strikes and probably civil unrest.
The BBC will ensure that the new Labour leader's part in the Gordon Brown and Tony Blair's government and thus the creation of the economic disaster is forgotten; all blame being laid at the feet of greedy bankers, heartless Tories and compliant LibDems.
Against this background do you really think that Labour will not be able to get back into power. Don't forget that labour have a bedrock of support comprised of the non-working classes and immigrants whose reliance on the benefit system and thus support for Labour is no accident. Add to this the extra workers employed by Gordon Brown's massive expansion of the public sector who will want to protect their (often) unnecessary jobs and large state pensions, again a constituency created by design and you have enough people ready to vote in any Labour leader in order to save their lifestyles and let the country go hang.
When you have a Trade Union leader saying that spending cuts are unnecessary as we could just borrow more money and that Trade Union leader's words being treated with respect by the BBC and his fellow Trade Unionists then you know that this Coalition government may well be just an interruption to the 13 years of destructive Labour government. Come 2015 we could have Ed Miliband as Prime Minister with a very left of centre cabinet & party and Ken Livingstone looking for a fourth term as Mayor of London; not a very appetising prospect is it? Would the last wealth producing member of society please close the door when they have left the UK...
