UN Security Council seat

The EU wants our Security Council seat and Lord Malloch-Brown wants to give it to them. Lord Malloch-Brown is Gordon Brown's "Minister for Africa, Asia and the UN attending Cabinet" and is renowned as being anti the current US government if not the US in general. He stated recently regarding the UK's seat on the UN Security Council that "I think it will go in stages. We are going to see a growing spread of it institution by institution," and that he hoped it would happen "as quickly as possible. I'm a huge fan of it.". This is the man who thinks we should be more independent of the US, obviously he's happy for us to become less independent of Europe, why the double standard?

Anyone who believed that Gordon Brown was less in favour of closer integration with Europe than Tony Blair must be a trifle confused now.
