Pointy headed comments

Channel 4's 7pm News and a report on the EU Treaty debate and the reporter talking to Jon Snow reports on William Hague's stand-up routine, gets in a jibe at Tory splits and remarks upon the "pointy headed" remarks of William Cash. What is the definition of pointy headedness? Is this sort of remark considered OK to make about an MP? Oh, sorry it is just a Conservative Euro-Sceptic MP so he is fair game - I despair of our Europhile media.
