I have been shopping at the same wet fishmonger for well over 30 years (man and boy) so what I saw today was most bizarre. Take a look here for the latest piece of government/EU pointless legislation.
Fishmongers have to display an authorised name for the fish they sell and display the above chart showing the Latin species name for the fish. Now I like fish and am quite happy to buy salmon, tuna, swordfish, hake, lemon sole etc. without feeling the urge to check that the fish I am purchasing is from is of the right species name. I trust my fishmonger to tell me if I am purchasing Thunnus or Katsuwonus pelamis.
Do we really need these people to... Sorry I'll rephrase that, do we really need these people.
