Winston Churchill on Europe

Some pro-EU fanatics are prone to claim that Winston Churchill was in favour of a United Europe. There are being disingenuous; he was in favour of a unified Continental Europe but he did not want the UK to form part of such a state. As he said:

"We are with Europe, but not of it. We are linked but not comprised. We are interested and associated, but not absorbed. and should a European address us and say "Shall we speak for thee?" we should reply, "Nay sir, for we dwell among our own people".
