A minor one but the BBC have an all-but automatic statement that they make when discussing Andy Murray's nationality - "he's British when he wins and Scottish when he loses" as is the case with all non-English sportsmen. This is crap of the highest order, the opposite is in fact true. Colin Jackson was always referred to as Welsh when he won, Mary Peters was a Northern Irish athlete when she won Olympic gold and Allan Wells Scottishness was always to the fore.
This line of BBC thought is part of the usual BBC programme of insidious brainwashing that England/English is bad whilst other intra-UK nationalism is good. It's all part of their support for the breakup of the UK and integration into the EU.
