I'm the right leader, says Brown

The Brown Broadcasting Corporation are "reporting" that Gordon Brown
"has said he is the right person to take the British economy through "difficult times" - and said that it is "more resilient than most"."
The state media article about the latest pronounceents of Our Glorious Leader continues
"The prime minister, who is at the G8 summit, said his experience of economic matters and negotiating deals with world leaders was very important.... Mr Brown said the economy was still growing, with "very high" employment and comparatively low interest rates."
The amusing article continues:
"Asked whether he would step down as Labour leader, if he became a liability to the party, Mr Brown said: "If I thought I wasn't the right person I wouldn't have stood for leader - the test of leadership is taking people through difficult times."

He added: "I think I'm the right person to take people through these difficult times.""

Unfortunately only Labour Ministers and the terminally stupid (these are not mutually exclusive sets of people) believe that we are not heading for recession and that the UK economy is well placed to weather the storm. How Gordon Brown must regret not calling a general election last autumn, he called it off because he was scared that he might not win as big a victory as Tony Blair did on 2005, something tells me that he is going to do far worse than that in 2010.

Many are predicting that Gordon Brown will go after a Glasgow East by-election defeat. For what it is worth I don't think he will. Why would Jack Straw, Harriet Harman, Ed Balls or any of the other Labour front-runners want to take over the reigns of a dying horse. Surely they wouldn't do it just for the increased pension rights, they wouldn't be that mercenary - would they?

And how exactly is he going to 'lead' us through these times? By eating lots of expensive food at the G8 summit? By telling us to buy electric cars? Hardly what I'd call leadership.
