Lib Dem MP shows her mettle

Liberal Democrat Lynne Featherstone was accused of wasting fire brigade time for ringing the emergency services when her boiler began making strange noises.

You missed the bit about it making the property shake, which I'll happily admit would have made me rather worried about what was about to happen if that was me.

Spotted a blogger who approached the Fire Brigade today and asked them what anyone should do in a similar situation - and they said you should call 999: http://trannyfattyacid.blogspot.com/2008/12/tory-calls-for-end-to-emergency.html

I think I'd rather go with their judgement than Brian Coleman's :-)
