Is it a "depression"

Gordon Brown at PMQs today said
"We should agree as a world on a monetary and fiscal stimulus that will take the world out of r... depression."

So does that mean Gordon Brown thinks we are in a "depression" only weeks after he admitted we were in a "recession"?

After PMQs George Osborne said:
"The prime minister must personally and urgently clarify whether his statement today that the world is in 'depression' was a slip of the tongue, or whether he knows something that we don't know... For the sake of confidence he should clear up this confusion. Prime ministers in particular need to be very careful about their use of language to ensure they don't undermined confidence."
Obviously relishing taking revenge on the man who accused him of "talking down Sterling".

What of the Prime Minister and his highly efficient team? The BBC report that
"the prime minister's spokesman told the BBC Mr Brown did not think the world was in a depression. Asked if it was a slip of the tongue, the spokesman replied that that could be inferred."

Gordon Brown really is moving from "jinx" to disater area; but who in the Cabinet will have the nerve to tell him it's time to go. He and his team have suppressed all opposition for years and now there is no natural replacement - David Miliband, Ed Miliband, Ed Balls, Andy Burnham? I think not.
