"Best placed"?

Gordon Brown's boast that the UK was "best placed" within the G7 to weather a recession has been shown to be as factual as much else that he claims. The IMF has produced a report that has laid bare how the UK's levels of debt has left it unable to provide the stimulus the economy needs, and Gordon Brown has promised, over the next 18 months. It seems that every G20 country apart from the UK and Argentina has budgeted for temporary spending increases or tax cuts next year to help drag their economies out of recession.

So that's it the UK is now at Argentinian levels of economic woes. When will the UK have to drop out of the G7? Will we be allowed to move to the G20 or is there a third ranking organisation we may have to join, this is like watching Leeds United FC fall from being in the Premiership top four down to the First Division.
