Something missing from this BBC report?

The BBC report that:
"The man behind the 2002 sniper attacks in and around Washington DC has been executed after a final appeal was thrown out.

John Allen Muhammad's lawyers say he was mentally ill, but Virginia Governor Tim Kaine rejected a plea for clemency.

On Monday, the US Supreme Court quashed an appeal for a stay of execution. "
There is no mention of motive for the killing so I was interested to see the above picture on Biased-BBC, it's a drawing made by John Allen Muhammad's accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo that was presented in evidence (exhibit 65-057) at their trial. Any ideas as to the motive for their random killing of white targets in the Washington area. At the trial Malvo testified that Muhammad, had been driven by hatred of America because of its "slavery, hypocrisy and foreign policy" and his belief that "the white man is the devil", planned to kill six whites a day for 30 days.

Absolutely inexplicable and I fully understand why the BBC seem incapable of ascribing motive to the murderer.
