"No motive has been identified"

The BBC's reporting of the failed terrorist attack on Times Square is the usual mix of misinformation and missing facts. Neither this report or this one manage to use the word terrorist or terrorism, except once. I am not sure why it is so hard to ascribe a motive, let's see what the BBC carefully place right at the end of each piece, so as to be able to say 'we mentioned it' but ensure that a large proportion of readers never get that far in the articles and so have their minds sullied by facts:

Najibullah Zazi and Zarein Ahmedzay, hmmm; and separately four New Yorkers went on trial accused of plotting to bomb synagogues in the city and fire missiles at military aircraft. I wonder if they could be Islamists, could jihad be a motive?
