Islamic Terrorism Is Anti-Islamic

Read this article entitled "Government renames Islamic terrorism as 'anti-Islamic activity' to woo Muslims".

Having read it, I think we have a new phrase to add to George Orwell's "War Is Peace", "Freedom Is Slavery", "Ignorance Is Strength" and that is "Islamic Terrorism Is Anti-Islamic"

It appears that "Ministers have adopted a new language for declarations on Islamic terrorism. In future, fanatics will be referred to as pursuing "anti-Islamic activity"...

"Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said that extremists were behaving contrary to their faith, rather than acting in the name of Islam."

As "Robert" says on the web "Ms. Smith, your statement that "there is nothing Islamic about the wish to terrorise, nothing Islamic about plotting murder, pain and grief" certainly expresses a mainstream view. I have just a few questions. How do you propose to counter the recruitment among peaceful Muslims that is being conducted by these "anti-Islamic" Muslims, who quote the Qur'an, Sunnah, and Islamic law to portray their "anti-Islamic" behavior as not only Islamic, but the only true Islamic position? Wouldn't combating that call for a searching and honest examination of the actual contents of those texts? Aren't you making that examination a bit more difficult to do by pretending that it need not be done, and that the strife is already o'er, the battle done, and the "moderates" have beaten back the ideological challenge of the "extremists"? How can sincere Islamic reformers prevail when you act as if there is nothing in Islam that needs reforming?"

The Daily MAil's editorial on this subject included this line ""It's like describing the Nazis as being engaged in 'anti-German activity'. Goebbels would have been proud of such double speak.""
