A trifle worrying but I find myself on the same side of a debate as the SNP for another time. This time it is over holding a referendum on the EU Constitution/Treaty. In December it was reported that a debate was held in the Scottish Parliament as the "the SNP believes that the UK Government should hold a referendum on the EU reform treaty". A poorly attended debate by all accounts but IF the Scots could hold a referendum and the DUP could carry the argument in Northern Ireland for a referendum then do you think we English might be allowed a say?
Whilst Gordon Brown and David Miliband witter on about the importance of democracy in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, Sudan, the Palestinian Territories, Kenya etc. etc., maybe they could explain why they are less keen on allowing democracy in their own country.
