More on Michael Nazir-Ali

I have blogged quite a bit about, The Rt Rev Michael Nazir-Ali, the Bishop of Rochester's saying that people of a different race or faith face physical attack if they live or work in communities dominated by a strict Muslim ideology, the first article of mine being this one. The attacks came in fast and furious; some such as Hazel Blears denied these areas existed whilst others including BBC commentators wanted to know where these areas were.

Thanks to Pub Philosopher we do now have some examples.

1. This from the BBC themselves where "Asian gang members who boasted they had killed a white man have been found guilty of murder...Sajid Zulfiqar, 25, Zahid Bashir, 23, and Imran Maqsood, 21, of Ilford, east London, will be sentenced on Thursday. The court heard that after the attack Zulfiqar shouted, in Urdu: "We have killed the white man. That will teach an Englishman to interfere in Paki business."" These delightful men were given life with a minimum tariff of 15 years.

2. Maybe this document written by Bradford's Principal Race Relations Officer from 1984-90 might be of interest. "There are three other areas for concern. They cannot be definitely proven but there are growing indications that they are real. They are the desire for Muslim only areas, the change in attitude from immigrant to colonist and the apparent collapse of family control over their young men...there is a drive amongst the mosque-attending older generation who would like sharia areas. There is also the minority of highly disaffected young men who want to control their patches. These two opposite ends of the spectrum desire the same thing albeit for different reasons and it is likely that they will support each other in order to attain their goals...There are significant groups of young men who are heavily involved in drug dealing and abuse, gang activities and crime. They are often abusive and threatening to white people in their areas and appear in significant and intimidating groups in the town centre area. No-one within their own communities seem prepared to challenge them or call them to order. However, these same young men, for the most part, profess their belief in Islam, do not drink alcohol and the vast majority will accept the arranged marriage. Their parents claim to have no control over them yet these young men do not kick against certain fundamentals. I believe that the parents do have some control, that they have a tacit agreement with their young men which basically requires them to accept the strictures on drinking and the arranged marriage in return for no interference in other aspects of their young men’s lives. This simply reflects their priorities:- the commitment to Islam, the prohibition on drink and the arranged marriage are more important than other aspects. There is a parental fear, no doubt well-founded, that if they exert pressure in other areas then they will lose their sons’ commitments in those three vital areas. It works for them but is a recipe for chaos in the rest of the community."

3. Maybe this article from the Daily Mail might provide some illumination. "Three Asian racists were convicted at the Old Bailey today of shattering a man's skull because he was white. Sodrul Islam, 23, Delwar Hussain, 21, and Mamoon Hussain, 20, were found guilty of attempted murder for the attack on John Payne, 33. Up to 30 Asians set upon the victim and his friends for drinking in a pub on the Clichy estate in Stepney, which the gang considered to be their turf. They shouted insults including "white honkies" at the five people who dared to walk through. Mr Payne was then felled with a machete and the gang repeatedly punched and kicked him as he lay helpless on the ground. The gang continued as Mr Payne's sobbing girlfriend tried to shield him. He suffered a severe fracture of his head and bone fragments penetrated his brain. Surgeons at the Royal London Hospital battled to save him. He continues to require constant medication and suffers severe epilepsy, nightmares and flashbacks." I have been unable to find out what sentences these "men" received for their vicious attack.

I wish that there were no such no-go areas, but wishing something doesn't make it true. Maybe Hazel Blears and people like her should wake-up to what is happening in this country before it is too late for the country.
